I have mix feelings about this one, I want to love this place, but it is a hit or miss. Stayed here the night before the cruise, and the day we got back. the first night was good the 2nd time not so good.

Pros:
Nice comfy beds
water pressure great for the shower
breakfast was decent.
has a shuttle to take you to the cruise lines,
Parking for cruise line passengers.

Cons:
older building, needs Maintenace. Outside lights were hanging as an example
2nd floor room as holes in the floor size of a foot under the carpet.
rooms were nice, but the furniture outdated and scratched.
Lace of staff and not around, have to ring the bell for front desk services all the time.
Bathtubs are slippery, get the bathmats they offer.
One shuttle driver for multiple drop offs and pickups, may have to wait awhile for a return shuttle ride.

I will probably not stay here again.

Although the suite furniture and bathrooms are needing an upgrade the rest of the hotel is very nice and kept spotlessly clean. Great breakfast selections including egg, sausage, waffles and cold items as well. The staff and especially Kim is attentive and accommodating and as friendly as can be. Access to the beach is a short walk. Keep an eye out for the kites flying between the hotel and beach.

We stayed here the night before our cruise. I cannot say enough about the patience and customer service of the front desk staff. I witnessed other guests requiring extra patience with their inquiries, and the front desk delivered with a smile without hesitation. Their shuttle driver for the cruise port was hardworking, pleasant, helpful, and a safe driver. No, the hotel is not new, nor is it a 5-star resort, but it was clean, with great staff, and in a good location, walking distance to the beach. There is a movie theater to the side of the hotel across the street, and a small shopping center one block from it toward the beach. It was a 2 minute walk to this shopping center that included a small restaurant and a gas station with a min market that sold sunblock, summer clothes, water/sand toys, as well as snacks/drinks. Within a 3 minute wals, across from the shopping center on the beachside, is restaurant Jimmy's on the Pier, which also has a gift shop.

The hotel is in disrepair, and in need for major repair and cleaning! The hotel rooms were not very clean. They still had the Covid pieces of plexiglass when you checked in with terribly tacky pieces of white paper all over yelling at you not to do this, not to do that. The door on the far end of the hotel was broken with another sheet of paper letting you know, not that big of a deal except for the fact the parking lot was so full you had to park way back by the garbage cans and walk around the whole hotel to get in. They offer a shuttle to the port, for 25 per person, it was way cheaper to take an Uber. The continental was the worst ive had in a long time. I stay at a lot of hotels and this was one I won’t ever go back to.

Stayed for 2 days on a business trip. Although they advertise a “business center” neither the computer nor printer worked. When asked the front desk they mentioned that it has been like that for months.

Had 2 phones in the suite — neither of them were operational.

Wi-if in the room didn’t work.

Vending on the first floor didn’t work.

What’s ironic — there was an advertisement on the desk in the room for wireless printing — it didn’t work

The room was clean and comfortable.

A no thrills breakfast was provided.

The hotel has begun offering a “cruise package” providing free parking and shuttle to the ship. We have stayed in this location visiting family for years and since this started, there is no longer a place to park our car. I can’t recommend this hotel because of the lack of available parking.

My wife and I came to Galveston for a family wedding over Labor Day weekend. The weather was hot and there were visitors everywhere for the holiday. I had heard the hotel was completely booked.
After walking out to the beach to get some sun and some food in the afternoon, we came back to the room to get dressed to discover our air conditioning had gone out! So we got ready for the wedding and I went and told the front desk about the issue. They said that maintenance would take care of it right away after they finished up work in another room. We left for the wedding right after.
When we came back, our room was nice and cool! They had replaced the whole unit while we were gone. I really appreciate that they went above and beyond to help.

The staff at the front desk and the breakfast bar were super nice all weekend, and I appreciate them for being positive in what had to have been a busy and stressful weekend. But I especially appreciate the maintenance man for saving me from the heat and taking care of it quickly. You’re the MVP of this story!

We stayed at the hotel on Saturday night before we went on a cruise on Sunday. We chose this hotel because they had free parking and a shuttle service for a fee. We had a nice stay, great breakfast and had great service to the Cruise ship.
The shuttle on the way back was extremely busy and we had to wait over a hour for our ride. It would have been better if they would get a bigger shuttle bus as this one only held about 6 adults and luggage.
Overall we had a nice stay and it was clean and well ran.

Hotel room was in poor unkept condition. Mold and rust in Bathroom, peeling wallpaper, hair in sheets, carpet pulled up, ripped comforter, cigarette butts left on room patio, and more. We asked for clean bath towels but were given pool towels because they said they didn't have anymore.

We rented 2 rooms for our family. We were leaving the next morning on a cruise . When we get there only ine person is working, so we waited 15 minutes to get waited on. Then we find out the computer was down. My husband had our reservations and everything. We had already paid for both rooms. We finally got to our rooms. At 1:30 a.m., the man that checked us in banged on the door, my husband got up and he said we only paid for 1 room. We took our reservations and where it said 2 rooms paid in full. After all that , he said I thought your last name was Grimes. Never offered an apology. Never will we give them our business again.

Hi; The shuttle is $15 and it does stop running at 3pm I think. If you call the Hotel, they can give you a more up to date schedule. If you have to be at the Port by 2pm then there may be some things you can do, I would suggest walking over to the beach.; I would allow at least 30 minutes for the shuttle. The front desk people are very helpful at this Comfort Suites. .

How far is the beach from the hotel?
Answer from navel007
Springfield, Missouri59 contributions32 helpful votes
Hi; This hotel is just a short walk from the beach. I would say about a 5 minute walk. When in Galveston it is my opinion that most people would like to go to the beach. This hotel is close enough that walking to the beach and allowing you to have your car parked in the parking lot is an economical way to do it. Parking a car along the beach, next to the highway, is not an economical way to see the beach in Galveston. Other than the short walk the experience of walking on the beach is always great, so much to see.
