I don’t know the reasons for all of the negative reviews. I arrived expecting to be slightly disappointed. This hotel is very nice. New carpet, new Smeg refers, nicely furnished, Keurig coffee makers and really efficient, kind and helpful staff esp trainee Jacquelyn! I would love to come back and enjoy this little beach town and hotel again!

We came for a quick summer get away, and we had a really great time. This hotel is definitely at the quieter end of the seawall. The beach was a quick walk across the street where beach umbrellas could be rented for $30 for the day, or you could bring your own. The umbrellas were spaced a nice 30 feet apart, and the beach was never crowded. The view from the top floor was fantastic, probably one of the best hotels on the island for a view with a small balcony.

The hotel had a nice big pool with a bar attached to it where you could get a drink and some snacks. The bar is currently open until 10 pm. The hotel restaurant is closed but they did offer a small room service menu. The room and bathrooms look like they have been recently redone.

A couple of negatives, for some reason only 1 elevator is working, and after looking at past reviews, it seems this has been the case for some time. It wasn't really a problem for us, but it could be annoying if you are in a hurry. They do charge a $12 parking fee an top of your nightly rate. Ice machine was out on our floor, so had to go down 1 floor to get ice.

We really enjoyed our stay and the staff checked on us several times via text to make sure everything was good. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

This hotel only has rooms facing the Gulf and all the upper floors have private balconies. The hotel has a unique decor designed for a beach front location. The rooms have refrigerators and Keurig coffee makers. There is only one elevator, but that was not a problem because the hotel is not that big. Check in was a little slow, but I use the app to check out, which couldn't be any easier. If you have a car you'll have to pay $10 a night to park in the lot behind the hotel. The lot is pretty well lit and very convenient.

They have a warm/cold breakfast bar every morning that is free if you have Gold or Diamond status with Hilton. Otherwise it is $12. If it's not free I would suggest going next door to Millers for breakfast. You get a better meal for about the same price.

I travelled to Galveston with my mother at the end of May, and we opted to try the Doubletree, as we always enjoy a balcony view of the Gulf in the evenings while sipping on wine. The Doubletree did not disappoint! There was plenty of space in the room and on the balcony. Our room had a walk-in shower, which really made my mother happy, as she sometimes has difficulty climbing in and out of tubs. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and breakfast was huge and good! Plenty of parking. I think we will stay here again on our next trip to Galveston.

The hotel located on Galveston beachfront has great potential to be a 4.5 star . PROS : Very nice pool with swim up bar and poolside snack bar , lobby is clean with good restaurant area, great location. CONS: rooms need updating including new carpet and beds . Usually you can count on a Doubletree to be superior with attention to detail however this hotel does not meet those standards. The hotel does have the potential to meet Hilton standards.

I would not recommend this hotel. It is NOT a good hotel for families. We had my sister, myself, a 13 YO, a 11 YO, and a 7 YO in a suite on the first floor. The room was outdated, the refrigerator was too small, the headboard on one of our beds was messed up. The "headboard" on the sleeper sofa was torn. We asked for the maid service to take out our trash and pick up the wet towels one morning and they did, but failed to leave ANY clean towels for us. So we had to go ask for clean towels. There is no balcony on the first floor so our view was of the pool not the ocean or sea wall. The shade on the window had holes in it. Other guests that were staying at the hotel were using loud profanity and security didn't do anything about it. One girl at the Longboard bar was stradling her boyfriend while sitting at the bar and neither the bartenders or security (70 year old man) said nothing. Several patrons were wearing string bikinis which isn't what visitors with young kids wants to see. Don't waste your money. Also, upon arrival we had to pay for our hotel room in full. OK, no problem. We paid up front when we checked in. After checking out 5 days later I noticed an additional charge on my account from the hotel. When I called the hotel to ask about it, they said they hold one night's worth of money on your account in case you don't show up, yet we showed up, paid in full and the "extra" charge didn't get released on my account until the day I checked out of the hotel! 5 days after I'd already paid my full hotel bill. WHY?! It's a ridiculous policy. I can understand being charged for one night if I fail to show up or fail to cancel in time but why would you hold more money on my account when I've already paid for my entire reservation??? We were highly disappointed.

My family and I booked 3 rooms here for 3 nights each. I will tell you in all honesty that was the worst $3000+++ that I have EVER spent! Our amazing vacation began with a stop by the hotel at 12:30 to hopefully check into our rooms. The lady at the desk was very nice and told us that our rooms were ready but that check in was not until 4pm. She said that she could early check us at 2, and requested we come back then. We thanked her for that, and said we would return then. Well at 2, we returned to find out that our rooms were NOT ready after all. My family and I returned to our car to sit and wait. My wife stayed in the lobby to wait to be told that we could check in. Finally, at 4pm, after having to get a little aggressive due to my overwhelming frustration, our rooms magically became ready. When we booked this hotel, we did so because the pool and swim up bar looked so inviting, but upon entry we found that the floating debris and dirt floating around in it from the decaying tiki hut were anything but inviting! The pool was so cloudy, due to lack of proper chemicals that I could not see my feet (GROSS). The AC in the room dripped water all over the floor, and ultimately onto our luggage. Room service was non existent! Getting extra coffee and towels took 3 separate requests before anyone would bring any. We asked for our room to be cleaned and fresh bedding, but those requests were ignored. In conclusion, in case its not clear enough by now, I urge you not to stay here... spend a couple more bucks and upgrade from this hell-hole!

I’m disappointed writing this review. I thought Hilton would have higher standards. I read other reviews before booking and it seemed like a nice place. Sadly, the experience was lacking. First of all the price is wayyyyy to high for what you get. I guess the only reason they’re allowed to charge that much is because of the location. The location is the one good thing. Their indoor cafe is closed, probably due to Covid, which I understand. The swim up bar was closed due to Covid. Again, I understand, but just an inconvenience. The carpets were filthy in the whole place. Our shower was so disgusting, I wore shoes in it to take a shower, and I feel like in a hotel, that should not be the case. It was very slimy and needed a super deep cleaning. Our room had a terrible sewage smell, so they actually switched us rooms, which was okay, but the new shower was disgusting as well. There were 2 elevators in the hotel, although only one was working. During the covid crisis, this seems very irresponsible. Yes they have signs that say 2 people per elevator, but that creates long lines just to get to your room. For a hotel of this size, they should have at least 4 elevators. They did not have coffee downstairs due to Covid, so they do have keurigs in the rooms. The only problem is they don’t provide very much cream and sugar. The balcony was nice. All in all, I would only come back to this place if it was the only option on the island between this and a roach motel. Otherwise, I’m finding a new place to get my business.

So 1st time staying at the DoubleTree and I have mixed reviews. 1st let me say the staff at check-in was awesome and very friendly. The check-in process went smooth and quick. There's only 1 working elevator the other has been out for months waiting on parts so you'll have to deal with that. The room was nice and colorful but could definitely use some updating. The carpet is dingy especially in the 1 only working elevator and various rust and stain spots in different parts of the room. I know since you're so close to the beach 🏖️ this is probably normal. The Balcony view is great and on a side note don't go for the extra upcharge for the beach view they all have great beach views. The Pool Is not and let me repeat IS NOT HEATED so that's a bummer but otherwise it's ok the Loangboard bar was ok kinda small inside and watered down drinks of course. They have an outside seating are which is really nice with a firepit. The location is really good so your not overly populated with the busy side of the beach but on more of the relaxed side. On a final note the DoubleTree 🍪 cookie's are to die for and it's a must try. I will definitely return to this place again.

Since this was my first visit in this location, I decided to use my coveted Hilton honors points that I have accrued over the past year and a half for a nice room with a beach view. I used 50,000 points to pay for my room with a view.
The hotel was very nice and clean and the customer service representatives at the desk were extremely warm, welcoming and courteous.
Unfortunately I have two complaints which I rarely do when leaving a review. The first is that I feel like I did not get a room that justified the amount that I paid for. I say that because my beach view was almost entirely blocked by a palm tree. I definitely would not let the palm tree cut down I just feel like the rate for that room should have been reduced I’ve stay at much better Hilton honors beach view rooms for equal or less than what I paid for this particular trip. I probably should not be bothered since I did not actually spend money but I was holding onto my points for something special and I thought this was going to be it.
The only other issue I had was a text message I got from the hotel concierge. It was a wonderful text message checking on my room and making sure everything was OK. I would have really appreciated this if when I texted a reply with a question I would’ve received an additional reply but I never did. I mentioned how I wanted to figure out how to turn the mirror light on in the bathroom and I never got a reply back from the concierge. It was a little odd to me because if the concierge does not have time to reply, why text the initial courtesy check message to begin with?
In summary, unfortunately this is one of the poorest experiences from Hilton that I have had with the brand. Definitely will choose another Hilton location next time.

No... and I'd be careful of letting your young women/girls swim alone. The pool is right next to the main street and the hotel bar. Several times I've seen 'pervs' taking pictures of the young women in the pool. When reported to the hotel staff, they refused to call the police to have the person removed for lewd behavior in front of minors.
