Towneplace Suites Galveston Island is often celebrated for its comfortable and clean accommodations which many guests feel provide good value, despite a few reports of issues. The hotel's cleanliness receives consistent commendation, and the inviting atmosphere is boosted by the friendly service and enjoyable events. Its location near the beach and local dining, along with convenient underground parking, is particularly popular. While the daily room cleaning, breakfast variety, and family-friendly amenities are appreciated, some guests note the limited gym size and occasional noise. The service is generally well-regarded, although an isolated incident of rudeness was reported. Guests enjoy the spacious, well-maintained rooms with kitchenettes, yet there are mentions of sporadic maintenance and service inconsistencies.

A Titanium bonvoy member here, so I have a decent amount of hotel experience under my belt worldwide at many different level of hotels, and in Galveston since I grew up in Houston. So let me summarize:

Room: We booked and got the 2 bedroom suite. 3rd floor was mostly quiet as we only heard a neighbor one morning. No one above and size worked great for our 2 adults and 2 kids. Kitchen worked well for our 3 nights and we even baked a pie for a family Thanksgiving celebration, which turned out great.

Food: Kuddos to the property for still offering breakfast, although modified a bit. Mostly individually wrapped and some hot items. 1 of the three mornings (Friday) they struggled to have available items and this barely fed the family after some waiting, but the next morning (Saturday) was fully stocked for all.

Covid Info: Of course many people have different opinions during the pandemic and some guests were not adhering to the Marriott-wide policy, local and state policy of wearing masks inside. An area of improvement would be to offer these guests masks and remind them of the policies. All staff were consistent with their mask wearing. All sanitizer dispensers were filled each time I needed to use them, so this was also appreciated.

General info: Staff was nice and accommodating. 3 night stay so no housekeeping, but everything was available quickly upon request from the front desk. Property is on end of the island, so you may need to drive a bit depending on where you are going on the island. Parking garage underneath, which worked great since it was raining our last day to avoid getting soaked while loading the car. Property is also showing some wear after ~7 years. I hear they are renovating the Courtyard so maybe this one is next as some stains could be seen here and there. As well, TVs are small for 2020 standards. Also, pool was stated not to be heated, which was a bit disappointing. We had enjoyed in the summer previously. Overall, there aren't many hotels in Galveston that offer larger rooms and many properties are run down, so we would consider returning here or the Courtyard in future.

Thank you for letting us know about your previous experience! I am glad to see for the most part we met all of your expectations and as a Titanium member it is clear that you know what those expectations are. I am sorry to hear that some of our guests were not adhering to the Covid19 Policies we do our best to uphold and will make sure to reiterate to our staff that these situations must be addressed each and every time they are witnessed. We do have masks available to any guests who do not have one available complimentary but we must be diligent in offering these at all times. As you stated the Courtyard is undergoing property improvements at this time and there are plans to do the same to the TownePlace Suites over the coming months and are excited to share our refreshed hotel experience with all of our guests once we have brought our hotel to that next level. We would be honored to serve you in the future should your travels bring you back to Galveston Island!

My friend and I planned a trip to include our two teenage daughters (who are also friends). The staff at this location was great - both friendly and helpful. The free breakfast had your typical waffles, muffins/breads, eggs, meat (even had vegetarian sausage), fruit, coffee/tea, etc. The location is a bit down from the main action, but only a short walk to a sandy beach option and a short drive to the "main" pier and the other places to see in Galveston. I think this helped with the quietness of the place. Behind the Courtyard, which may also block road noise. Room was a good size, bathroom counter a little small for 4 people to maneuver. Kitchen area was nice and large with almost full size fridge. We had a partial view of the water. All and all a nice place to stay with easy access to sight seeing.

We had reserved a room at a local resort for a week, after a 9 hour drive we arrived and were given rooms which were not in good condition. Thus we went looking for another place to stay at 7pm on a Sunday with our dog; we reached Jerry at the front desk who bent over backwards finding us a room with a discount. He put us into a studio which was beyond our expectations. Afterwards he continued to check in on us to ensure our stay was going well, he was our hero. ALL the staff was very friendly and accommodating with standouts being Rachael at the bar/pool looking out for us, Sebastian fixing a great Manhattan, Shelly at front desk answering questions and directing us to good places to eat. These along with many others made our stay enjoyable.

The place was very clean, someone was always working both inside and outside to keep the place in tip top condition. The pool was a fun place to be at with a DJ and waterfall over the weekend. Location was ideal being it was right across the street to the beach, and close but not too close to the hustle and bustle of main seawall tourist activities. At night was quiet, no disruptions for sleep.

Overall it was a fantastic stay, they saved our vacation, we will be returning. Very appreciative to all that made our stay so pleasant.

Thank you!
Jim, Teri and Jaxon

If you’re looking for a 4 or 5 star hotel, Keep looking because TownPlace Suites Galveston is not it. I would actually rate a 2.5 star but that’s not available.

Positives:
1. Great location; walking distance from Seawall
2. Courteous front desk
3. Upgraded to larger room upon request
4. Free covered parking available
5. Good water pressure in shower
6. Fair rates on weekday

Negatives:
1. Long waits at the front desk; understaffed
2. Dirty room
3. No towels at the pool. When we requested pool towels we were given what I can only assume are wash rags.
4. No hand soap in the pool bathrooms and given the C19 circumstances- this is unacceptable, pool bathrooms needed to be swept
5. Only 1 roll of toilet paper in the room, really??
4. Dated and smelly elevators
6. People smoking in the pool area when clearly there is no smoking policy
7. I literally had to fix the fire alarm in the room as it was dangling from the ceiling.
8. Called the front desk numerous times and busy signal.

Should have went to San Luis Resorts.

TownPlace Suites at Galveston is a great place to stay. It has a decent pool and outdoor bar. I booked for 6 nights for the 4th of July week. When I arrived my room was not ready yet, I waited at the bar and had a couple of drinks and visited with Sandra the bar tender. I didn't like that the manager was pushing dirty dishes by me but it was a very busy day.
Billie and Jovanni have great customer service. They are very friendly and they do everything they can to accommodate your stay. Billie went above and beyond and picked me a very nice room with a wonderful sea view. The bed was very comfortable and I loved the feather pillows.
They usually have a live band and food vendors at the pool for the 4th of July week end. I was told the band would be there but the day I arrived the band was not there. This hotel is at the end of the seawall strip. It is located at a secluded end and it is quiet at night away from the busy crowded area. They offer a lot of options for breakfast. The beach is right across the hotel. There are stores and a Jimmy's restaurant at the pier within walking distance.
Housekeeping staff could improve service, sometimes they don't want to service your room. I wasted half the day waiting for a lady who took 2 hrs at the end at one particular room only to come.and quickly wipe the bathroom in 5 minutes. She didn't make the bed or stocked the kitchen. The next time this person came by I handed her the towels and trash so I wouldn't waste my time. The tub was clogged and maintenance had to unclog the drain the first day we used the shower. He left the tub full of hair that was not mine.
I spayed the tub to wash off some of the hair before housekeeping came in that morning. There was this housekeeping lady with dark shoulder length hair, that on one of the days I stayed she did a good job cleaning. She folded the towels like a fan very artistic.
The graveyard shift front desk (young girl) agent will ignore you and treats you as if it is your fault she is there. She looked very unhappy to be there. There was a problem with the way they charged my card when I arrived and when I checked out. I think it's because the new clerk did not include my address on the folio. I didn't notice until I arrive home days later. This hotel holds a deposit based on the number of nights you stay. Overall I do like the place and more importantly there are no bugs at this hotel.

The room was clean and had plenty of towels. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were attached to the shower, so no need of worrying about running out. The water pressure of the shower was perfectly strong and spread out. We had a kitchen with plates, silverwear, and an oven in it which helped with our late night frozen pizzas. Victor assisted us with our room and was extremely helpful with everything we needed, including telling us that we could go to the connected hotel to find some more snacks.

The service at this place leaves a lot to be desired. My wife and I planned to stay here a couple nights and enjoy some relaxing time near the beach, only it turned out pretty bad from the beginning.

When we booked this place the listing said they had a hottub and a pool and we called prior to booking and told the pool was open year round. Turns out there is no hot tub and the pool isn't even heated which means it really isn't open year round.

My wife injured her knee right before arriving at the place. We called prior to arriving and also checked in online so she didn't have to walk far. When we got to the place I went in to get our key and find out where the room was. The lady at the counter told me that I would not be able to check in for us my wife would have to do it as it was in her name. I explained that since my wife was injured she could not walk very far at the moment and gave them her license and card and explained we checked in online already. She again told me my wife had to come in. I then went to the car and spoke with my wife who called in trying to explain it was difficult to walk because of her injuries, the lady at the front put us on hold to speak to her manager and sure enough we can see them staring at us through the window. We were then told she would have to come in anyway. All other places were cool and one place the person walked outside to my wife to accommodate, this place not accommodating at all.

The room, it turns out was up two flights of stairs which we were not told about even though the lady can clearly see my wife struggled walking and needed me for support. and the heater/air conditioner wasn't even working. At this point we were done. We got dinner and started looking for a different place to stay immediately. We will not be back to this place at all.

One of our rooms was ready when we arrived a few minutes before check in and the other was not ready until after 5:30pm only because I went to the front desk and was waiting there until a room was cleaned and available. It was spring break but they were behind in cleaning rooms. Even the day we checked out the cleaning people kept asking if we were checking out already anytime we were in the hallway that morning. Felt pushed out when we should have been given more time or money back for not getting the complete stay.
As for the status of the rooms the King room with pull out couch was ok. The pull out couch is not an acceptable bed. You can see the springs through the mattress. The Holiday Inn has more comfortable pullout couches if you have to sleep on one. Marriott needs to update the pull out couches. Otherwise the rooms were decent and worked for our two night stay.

We stayed here based on trip advisor reviews, and saying we were disappointed is an understatement, The room was not ready at checkin, luggage carts were not available. The elevators were extremely slow, and the hallways were hot and smelled of mosquito repellant. The room was not clean, smelled of mildew, and when I looked at the coffee pot , the inside was covered in a black moldy substance, We had nowhere else to stay, so we spent a very restless and depressing night, and got up at 5am and checked out. On a positive note , the staff was very nice and apologetic. We only stay at Marriott facilities and this was by far the worst.

Great location, nice amenities, away from the noise but convenient enough to get to everything. The 2 bedroom suite worked perfect for us. We usually try to rent a condo, but was very happy with these accommodations. The price was less and it was nice having housekeeping on the days we wanted as well as having the option of a free continental breakfast in the morning.

Yes, they can provide a shuttle to the port. It cost $40 per room. You schedule it with the front desk. Be sure that they have the right day and time. It takes about 20 minutes travel time.
