The Courtyard Galveston Island hotel garners accolades for its cleanliness, with well-kept rooms and attentive housekeeping, though isolated incidents of room-readiness have been noted. Nestled in a prime location, guests relish the close proximity to the beach and stunning views. The rooms are commended for their comfort and views, yet some suggest they could benefit from updates. Travelers regard the hotel as a good value, with reasonably priced offerings and a complimentary breakfast, despite occasional room service hiccups. The amenities, including a picturesque pool and family-friendly atmosphere complete with an outdoor bar and fire pit, receive high praise, as does the warm and efficient service.

Courtyard has great staff starting with front desk Jazz and Zack the security very nice always making sure we had all we needed, going above and beyond for us.Sandra the morning girl was awesome , coffees were great she was always smiling and great service we loved her.
I have to say at the beginning we were upset because I called 3 times to make sure my room reservation was still going to be there since I was arriving at 1 am. I get there at 11pm and the guy at the front was very rude to me, Dj whatever. He said my card had declined so he had moved my reservation to TownePlace suites, like are u serious nobody called me about it or notified me when I called many times to check on my reservation .

We go to TownePlace hotel was not great for the price I paid over $400 sum thing dollars for one night and looked very bad conditions for price. And we had booked double queens and only received 1 kind bed, Zack the security guy was so nice to bring me 2 rolling beds for my kids, he was so kind. Breakfast was great. We then requested to continue our reservation at courtyard.

We moved to courtyard Jazz made sure my room was ready w ocean view and then We seen Zack at this property again and he was very kind and honest to take us my sons Nintendo switch and phone and charger. And gave my kids some s’mores. Like I said staff was great all over except my arrival experience.

I was supposed to pay $685 for 3 nights when I booked at courtyard, ended up paying $658 for 2 nights at courtyard and $420 at TownePlace. Makes me not trust on this type of reservations again .

Thank you again, Jazz Sandra and Zack and the other lady that was working with Jazz I didn’t catch her name. ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️

Prior to our visit we received numerous emails letting us know about the property amenities and renovations.

We felt like communication was great. Using the app I was able to request for extra Linens and towels to be sent to our room.

We checked in and was pleasantly surprised to see all my requests were waiting in our room.

Rachel at the front desk who also happened to work the pool bar was so pleasant and professional. She made sure to tell us about all the pool amenities.

We also interacted with Jessica at the front desk and was pleased with her smiles and service.

Jason at the pool bar was knowledgeable and fun to talk with. He gave us great service.

We saw the property manager, Sam, running around constantly attending to guests needs, fixing a phone at the pool. He seemed to work nonstop.

Lots of good things to say about the service.

Renovations are needed but you can see the new owner has been making improvements. Can’t wait to see the place in six months.

The mattress is one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on. Wish I could have packed it up to take home!

As a Marriott ambassador elite member, I’ve spent over 150 nights annually with Marriott for the last two years. This hotel stay has by far been the best experience, my husband or I have had to date!! Where do I begin? The beds are the most comfortable we have ever slept in at a hotel, the cleanliness of this property is superb and the service from employees on all levels from Travis at the front desk, who was extremely personable to the bartender at the pool Who suggested some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had !! The drinks and food are 5-Star with very reasonable prices.

We spent Mother’s Day at the grand Galvez resort a few miles down the beach the day before, and had a horrible experience with everything from the poolside bar to the check-in process, etc., which caused us to relocate and thankfully our three day vacation was redeemed 100% due to The Courtyard! Travis secured an upgrade for us without my even having to request it.

This hotel is 100% family, friendly, conveniently located, beautiful ocean views, and the most amazing pool I can recall all my years of travel!! The property is extremely well maintained, and I can’t say enough about the staff and the facilities. Five stars doesn’t even begin to do these guys justice!!

We stayed at the Marriott Towne Place Suites which are directly behind the Courtyard. The room was small but the bed was comfortable. The rooms facing the field had somewhat of a view of the Gulf and a green field. We, however, were on the opposite side which faced the parking lot and another resort. Breakfast was nice and included precooked eggs, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, yogurt, breads, oatmeal, & waffles. The outstanding feature was the staff, who were all friendly and efficient. The young man who cleaned up the breakfast dining area was super diligent in his work and friendly. The hostess of that area, Dana, was very friendly and eager to serve us well. We ate once at the grill in the adjoining Courtyard property and thought the food was good. They share a nice pool with the Courtyard also. Overall, though the room and view were mediocre, it was clean & comfortable. The attitudes of the staff made the stay enjoyable!

I received an email from Marriott concerning a long awaited stay at the Galveston Seawall Courtyard this past weekend. No alcohol license, no pool bar service, no YouTube or Netflix on the TV. It also stated that a guestroom furniture upgrade was in process but it was not impactful to the guests. We arrived to a room with nothing but a rolling desk chair and a bed for seating. No couch or side chair. The front desk upon arrival made no mention of it before we opened the door to the room. We called the front desk twice, no answer. Rolled the luggage back downstairs. The front desk guy never apologized and just kept saying we sent you emails. The email said the the furniture upgrade would not be impactful to the guests yet we were being charged the full 40,000 Marriott points for the room. Still no apology. We did not stay and got our points refunded. Front desk guy was very rude. We had to then search for another place to stay at 5pm on a Saturday. Called the hotel today and talked to the Assoc Gen Mgr. She talked on a speaker phone. I told her twice thst I could not hear her name clearly and yet she would not talk on the phone directly. She apologized for the experience with the front desk but offered nothing to comp us for the inconvenience. Again, poor customer service. We won't be back. FYI, Stay at the Best Western Suites a few door down. They were very nice and all rooms have an ocean view.

We checked on Monday for a much needed vacation and checked out on Wednesday, 2 days early, to move to a new hotel. When we arrived the front desk couldn’t find our reservation and were very rude. They finally located it after we showed them our loyalty status tier and were friendlier. We got to our room, which was a handicap accessible room, to find our bathroom flooded. Ninety minutes later, and many power tools, maintenance fixed the plumbing issue. I wish they could have fixed the smell.

During that wait we noticed that our “comfy chair” in the room must have been used at a “red light district” hotel in its previous life. We were not getting anywhere near that thing.

Now the real fun begins. We booked our hotel using points because we had plenty. We opted to pay cash for one night and points for three. It’s something we’ve done many times with no issues. When we checked in they put a $100 hold on our card, no biggie. Overnight they put an $80 hold on our card. We spoke with the front desk who told us that was to cover incidentals. I’m still not clear what those could have possibly been. We left the following morning to go do vacation stuff and came back in the evening to find the sewer smell had gotten worse. Still no other rooms available so we just dealt with it.

We soon learned most of our plugs didn’t work and the lamps made an weird humming noise. Meh, who needs lights anyway? So back to sleep we went. Woke up on Wednesday morning to find they had charged our account another $100 dollars. If you’re keeping track, that’s $280 so far. We went back down to the desk where they told us they would hold the daily rate on our card in case our points didn’t go through. Keep in mind, we were using Marriott branded points from their loyalty program. They got really rude. We got our stuff and checked out but not before they decided that since they had already held those funds, they would apply the cash rate instead of points. We fought their poor choice but alas, they would not honor the points and were rude.

We’ve stayed at Marriotts all over the country and never dealt with the rude customer service we encountered here. Spend the extra money and stay someplace else.

We inspected the room multiple times and cannot verify your remarks about “red light district” furniture in the room . We take all feedback very serious and appreciate you sharing your experience. As far as location and comfort of the hotel, it was excellent. However, my issue was with charges. I booked a state government rate of $99. Before checking in I get a text message they charged my card $140 then an email for a $20 charge. When I checked in the employee asked for my card which I didn't have with me as I have never needed it before. She asks the other employee did she need to change the rate but never informed me she had changed the rate to $139. She stated the text was not a charge just a hold and the $20 would be refunded in 3 to 5 days if I didn't use any extras from the room. What extras as there wasn't anything extra in the room to be charged for. At 12:30 am on day of check put I get an Email with my receipt showing the $139 rate. When asked at front desk they said their policy now requires them to see state ID card to allow the rate. I get that but why not explain to the customer. They didn't even offer or ask if we would be eligible for another discounted rate such as senior citizen and both my husband and I are gray headed and he is 64. Too, the website needs to explain the $20 charge. Not sure I will stay at Marriott hotel any time soon.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and bringing this to our attention. Yes, every hotel does have an incidental policy. They can range anywhere from $20-$200 a night just depending on where you book a reservation at. Our policy is $20 a night. As for the rate change you are correct. This should of been handled differently and communicated to you. I apologize for that incident and have discussed this with our team so it does not happen again. Thank you for your time and hopefully this does not deter you from staying with us again! Have a great weekend and we are here if you need anything!

Well Staffed and Well Kept Property. However, over the 4th of July, they scheduled ALL DAY concerts at 11 am all weekend, leaving no place and no time for those of us who chose the site because of its pool. We understand the business need to boost their $$ with alcohol sales, but there should have been designated quiet hours for those of us who do not party into the night. When complaining, they became defensive and unsympathetic and frankly rude. “What did I expect on a holiday weekend?” We did not expect 1000 decimals thrown at us every morning at 11 am. We were not the only family that were not partiers. Many left when the noise started.

Additionally, they overcharged us by adding a day to our bill. It took three phone calls to admit they had made a mistake. It took them ten days to correct their error. Taking $500 from someone’s account that they didn’t budget is harmful to the guest. They did not even apologize.

We stay at Courtyards for business and pleasure often. Avoid this one, it’s management truly needs some customer service training from Marriott Corporate.

The staff is outstanding! The checkin, housekeeping, and pool staff are all friendly, attentive, and go out of their way to make sure guests are happy. We were greeted every time we passed any of the staff. The pool bartenders, Jason, Maria, Morgan, and Megan did a great job keeping the pool area clean and organized while also serving us food and drinks. They were all amazing! We ended up spending most of our time at the pool instead of the beach because of the outstanding service from the bartenders.

The rooms are modern, roomy, and comfortable. We like our a/c cold and our room a/c worked great. The bed was comfortable but next time I will ask for firm pillows as I don’t care for the squishy ones.

There is plenty of parking both in front of the hotel and in the parking garage. The hotel is just steps away from the beach, which was nice for the convenience as well as no parking fees. The beach area in front of the hotel wasn’t crowded either.

Overall it was a great stay! We will definitely be coming back to the Courtyard for our next visit.

I’m not one to write reviews, in fact, this is a first. Ahreona, Guest Services Manager, was absolutely incredible. I’ve been a Bonvoy lifetime member for years and this has been the best service I think I have received. She emailed before my trip and asked if there is anything she could help with. Turns out we were taking a trip for my wife’s birthday and I had asked for a consideration for an upgrade. She was unable to help with that but did put us in a room with a view. Ahreona was very helpful and when we arrived, there was a card, small bag of snacks and a happy birthday banner in our room. It’s rare to find this kind of follow up based off an email. The entire staff was great during our stay. Truly, a great experience! Great job!

There is a bar inside, though it’s not staffed at all hours. At the same bar area, you can order food from a bistro style menu (they keep better hours than the bar). There is plenty of seating in the common area around the bar.
