We are rewards members. We stay at Choice hotels all over the country and have stayed at many during the coronavirus pandemic. It seems some sites take this as an opportunity to slack off rather than to do better. I realize a full breakfast buffet may not be an option, but a bag with a muffin, an apple and a cereal bar is a little sparse, in my opinion. At this location, ALL chairs have been removed from the pool area. We found trash on the floor our first night. Rooms are not serviced at all, for the first three days of your stay, from what I read. I dis ask for clean towels on our third night. We enjoyed the gulf view balcony room.

My husband and I have used Comfort Inn and Suites on several occasions but this was the first time in Galveston and the first hotel during the pandemic. Our room was spacious and well furnished although some pieces looked worn. We found that the room didn’t seem 100% clean, the sheets appeared to be well worn also and all creased up. When the bathroom mirror got steamed up there was a love message written presumably by the previous occupant of the room. So I presume the mirror had not been wiped down before we came in. I had a cold shower one afternoon after coming in from the beach. Then there was breakfast. The coffee was not very good, the sack breakfast less than inspiring and juices not always available. All in all a disappointing visit.

Karen F, Thank you for sharing your experience, and we are very sorry for the inconveniences that you encountered during your stay. Your very detailed negative review of our facilities and cleanliness is rough to hear because our goal and our efforts are directed to bring the opposite results from what you describe. We will forward your review to management for their attention and action. We hope to see you again and that you'll finally be truly impressed with our improvements.

The room was nice enough. It smelled like it had recently been painted. It was large and the bed was comfortable. Very nice towels in the bathroom. It was nice having a balcony so you could open the door and get some fresh air. Very easy access to the beach just across the street.

The sign in the lobby said check in was 4pm. So, at 4:01 pm I rang the bell and a young man came out of the back room and I felt like I had interrupted him from whatever he’d been doing. No welcome greeting from this person. I gave my name and said I was here to check in. The only words this person spoke to me was “down the hall,” when he handed me the key cards.

After we settled into our room, we discovered that the desk chair was broken. When I went back to tell the young man about this, without saying a word to me, he got on phone and whispered something to someone, then asked me “do you need it?” I forget what he said when I said yes. A few minutes later someone knocked on our door with a different chair.

The breakfast was pretty basic, Not bad, but nothing fancy.

The things I liked the best about this motel was the towels in the bathroom and easy access to the beach.

We stayed here for my birthday weekend. The room was clean and spacious. We were expecting a room with a view but got a view of a building we were let down by that but everything else was ok. The bathroom was big. The breakfast was nothing special but that was no big deal.

The front desk staff was so nice and helpful in moving us to 3 different rooms. The first room we stayed in was so moldy, we were coughing and sneezing that 1st night...until 3am, we couldn't take it anymore. They moved us to another room at 3am. The 2nd room had little tiny baby roaches everywhere. One was crawling on my arm under the covers. On our 2nd night they moved us again because the roaches kept coming. We showed them pictures because they thought we were pulling their leg. Upon checking out, the front desk said they would credit us 50%, then a manager called in and said no discount. After arguing, the manager then agreed to credit us $55 off our $230 bill.. We just wanted to leave at this point. Days later, we checked our bank account and they did credit us the $55, but also charged us twice for $230. Still arguing with the manager. The front desk staff is nice and helpful. Manager doesn't care much about customer service. The breakfast was a brown bag that consisted of an apple and muffin. I would never stay there again!

Galveston hotels have jacked up rates in unprecedented fashion. This hotel costs 294 dollars a night tax included for a king with a fold out bed. We'll start with the balcony, no view and there were toenail clippings on the balcony floor. A discarded face mask was left on the ground from 7pm and was still there when I checked out at 10am the next day. The blanket for our fold out bed had a cigarette burn hole in the middle of it. We did not have a toilet paper spool for dispensing toilet paper. For 300 dollars it was horrible. I will never stay there again and I am a Choice hotel member.

I only needed a bed to stay on for the night so I wasn't going for anything fancy, but I feel like I would have been better off at a cheaper hole in the wall motel! The only good thing was that the sheets were really soft, but put on a terrible mattress that felt like it was a box spring with no mattress at all. I really didn't have a good sleep. The elevator was torturous with how slow it went, it was uncomfortably small even with 2 people in it, and it was practically an oven. The entire grounds were COVERED in trash, almost like people threw everything out over their balconies and no one ever cleaned any of it up. Overflowing trash at the main entrance, in the parking lots, and even trash left out in the hallway all day. The musty smell of old A/C filled the whole building and was even worse in the room. I don't think the A/C in the room really even worked like it should because I kept having to turn it down, all the way to 65, to feel cooler anywhere in the room other than sitting right in front of the vent. Overall, did not feel clean or comfortable and will not be staying again or recommending.

So disappointing, won't be staying here again or recommending to anyone. We stayed in a two queen room for one night. The front desk staff was rude and treated us like we were imposing on them. The elevator had the up/down lights taped on with scotch tape. The parking garage had trash and construction debris everywhere. The door to the room looked like it had been pried open with a crowbar and the room door did not have a seal and you could see the hallway light around the door. Balcony door was difficult to shut and the door handle had to be pulled hard to latch. The outlet between the beds did not work, so we pulled back the bedside table to find the only working outlet on that wall, of which only one socket worked and no cover on the plug so wires were exposed. The bathroom a nightmare in itself...dirt piled up in the corners, with loose tiles and rust stained ceiling. But don't worry, if you hate your stay, you are out of luck because the management does not care how bad your stay is. Thanks for nothing...back to Hampton I go.

Dirty, tub has actual rust, pictures missing hangers are still there & furniture missing! That’s just the room. Parking area is filthy and lights are out! Buckets block unsafe areas! We booked last minute and nothing else was available. Paying $110 a night, at check in she said it’s supposed to be $140! No way. I’ve had not stayed at a choice hotel a couple of times before in a small Texas town where it was that or super 8. On slightly better than sleeping on the dirt!
