Needed a one night stay before cruise. This hotel is within walking distance of several restaurants, but was quiet for the night. I had read some pretty awful reviews but decided to go anyway. Yes, it is in need of some paint here and there, but was clean. Our room had been updated recently. They are in the process of renovating all the rooms. I did not see any bugs as others reported. The breakfast was adequate, continental. Didn't use pool or fitness room.

When we first arrived in our room, it was nice and cool and smelled clean. I’m the type of person who always checks the bed before anything else. When we pulled back the blanket there were crumbs and hair all in the sheets (not just small amounts) I called the front desk and asked for clean linens for both beds. The person at the front desk told me she would have them ready for me and that I would have to go down to pick them up. When putting the new linens on the bed we noticed that there were stale chicken nuggets and fries underneath the beds. Carpets had not been vacuumed in our room or in the hallway. We ended up using Lysol on everything so that we felt more comfortable in the room. The next morning when we went to start our day there was a housekeeper in the hall and I asked if she would mind changing the linens again and vacuuming our floor. When we returned she had cleaned the room and it looked so much better. This would be a good hotel if the employees/owners took more time to make sure rooms are cleaned thoroughly before letting guest check in.

The pictures on the website look like nice rooms. The pictures must have been from 10 years ago. The room was not very clean. I don't think the room had been vacuumed or shampooed in a very long time. Also, the bathroom toilet still had pee stains from previous tenants. The locks on the room door were missing. I would never stay here again. I expected more for the high price.

We booked this hotel keeping an open mind. We called the hotel months before we booked and they said they were renovating the hotel and should be done by Aug '21. When we arrived at the hotel there was no one at the registration, since we had a long drive I went to find that both restrooms off the lobby were out of order.
Went back to check in and after about 10 min someone showed up. (I do understand that companies are short staffed, but at least have a restroom available).
It was not until we checked in that we were told there was no breakfast, even though I made my reservation by phone and the website indicates they serve breakfast. We arrived just before noon and were told if we wanted to check in then, we would incur an extra $45 charge. We travel a lot with Hilton, Marriott, Holiday Inn, etc and NEVER have we been charged to check in early when our room was ready.
When we entered our room, we found a ripped up desk chair and a stained sitting chair. I have pics I can post.
The location of the hotel was good, but I did research and found out that the other hotels, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn in Galveston were serving their complimentary breakfast.

I booked this hotel well in advance of our trip to Galveston for the night before we sailed on a cruise. I spoke directly with the manager to make the reservation. We needed transportation from Hobby airport to Galveston and she told me the could provide a ride for us for $95 for us both. That driver, Nick, turned out to be the only good thing about the hotel. I spoke with the manager, Dee, when I made the reservation and told her that my traveling companion was disabled, and did they possibly have a wheelchair we could use getting her to and from our room, she said yes, they had a wheelchair she could use. That was my first clue that things were not going to go well. No wheelchair, and the person at the front desk practically laughed at me. He had the absentee manager, Dee, on the phone and she denied she ever told me that. On our way to the room, the hallways smelled musty and dirty. We got to our room and the first thing was a trip to the bathroom. It was filthy. The sink was the only clean thing. Hair and dirt all over the floor, and hair in the tub. I wiped down the toilet before I used it. No soap in the shower, no spare roll of toilet paper, towels old and thin and dingy. Carpet was dirty, there was no clock, linens were old and yellowed, some pilled and torn. The beds looked like they were made by a 3-year-old. No switches on the lights by the beds. One didn’t work at all, and the other one had to be turned on and off by tightening and loosening the light bulb. There was dust everywhere. The window screen was torn. They had a breakfast room and the breakfast schedule posted, but there was no breakfast. We didn’t have the option to change hotels, but I strongly encourage people to NOT stay there. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, you’d think that hotels would take extra steps to assure cleanliness of their property. Overall, it was disgustingly filthy.

Checked in, the first sign was the front doors were dirty and couldn’t see thru them, it gets worse, walking to the elevator you notice that the ceiling is falling, dirty carpet all around, we opened the room door and you notice right away that the king size bed is totally worn with the edges broken down and lumps in the middle, And oh my the sheets were thin, wrinkled and smell....
Booked the reservation thru Agoda, I fell that I would not have gotten a refund from Country Suites,
after checking out , our CC was charged $150, I will go by there and see what they will do about it.
So sorry but this place should be closed down, its a health issue!

We checked in to our room and found toilet paper in the toilet bowl, a filthy sink, the bed looked very lumpy and the balcony was filthy. I went down to ask for another room and they moved us a few doors down. That bathroom was dirty, the beds looked like a 5 year old had made them and there was a huge stain on the carpet between the beds. We pulled back the comforter and found hair on the sheets, what appeared to be blood drops on the pillow cases and proceeded to pull back the mattress pad and found a HUGE stain that appeared to be blood ( see attached picture). We went back to the front desk, I showed the pictures to the guy and told him we would not be staying there. I asked him to find us another hotel in the area and he said he needed to call his manager— he went into another room, came back & said the manager was busy and couldn’t talk to me but would call me in the morning. They did nothing to help us find a clean place to stay and even the 800# was unwilling to help us out.

First off as soon as we got to the motel, the front desk staff was extremely rude. Once we entered the room, it was like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. Blood stains on floor, body fluids on bed and what looked like bed bugs on mattress. We were there 5 minutes and immediately found somewhere else to stay. This location needs a complete overhaul to be able to charge what they charge. Don’t waste your time or money

The receptionist was very rude. They will only give you one key and will argue with you if you ask for a second and ultimately charge you a another deposit for a plastic key. This is additional to the $150.00 deposit you already paid. The parking lot is full of trash, the elevators are dirty, the corridors were dirty. The rooms were big but the furniture was outdated.

Checked into hotel only to find a filthy room. Blood on a towel in the bathroom, furniture in shambles, a disgusting wet spot on the couch, complete filth. I checked out immediately and found a different hotel to stay at with my family. The hotel refuses to refund me my money only offer me a “complimentary stay at any Radisson hotel”, I wouldn’t stay at another one of their hotels if somebody paid me to! Find any place else to stay, don’t make my mistake!

Don’t stay there!! Filthy and unresponsive. Hopefully my pictures are still posted. If you do stay there check the sheets and mattress for blood stains and hair!
Holiday Inn down the road is awesome!!! It’s also right across from the beach- great staff and beautiful, clean rooms!
Yes we were disappointed to learn the pool was not well maintained and no hot tub available. With it being Galveston your going to have difficulties finding a heated pool.
I do not know about port shuttles, but a parking permit is issued upon check in
