The location of the hotel was soo beautiful especially at sunrise. We were fortunate to find this great room in a short period of time , at a GREAT price. Thank you for your hospitality Candlewood in Farmers Branch, I will definitely be staying here again in the future !

There are only very few parking lots at the entrance, most guests just have to park along the street on the other side of the road. There´s a strange fenced platform in front of the entrance and the curb insn´t lowered anywhere along the parking lots, so it is very difficult to get your luggage from the car onto a baggage cart and into the hotel. There´s actually a parking garage at the east side of the hotel which could be a huge advantage, if it weren´t so tricky to access, both by car and from the hotel. Of course, all eastern hotel rooms face the garage, too. On the other side, at the moment there´s still a meadow, but it will most probably turn into a construction site soon.
The location near Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway and DFW is convenient, but there´s hardly any restaurant in the neighborhood; in about ten minutes you can reach a Whole Foods Market or an ALDI.
Obviously the hotel was booked out, so I couldn´t get an upgrade, despite of my Platinum status. That I obviously got one of the worst rooms, facing the parking garage, was another thing. The kitchen had the poorest equipment I´ve ever seen, not even a flipper, 2 plates, 2 cups, 2 glasses etc. - in a room meant for up to three people! The furniture was very basic and run down, the desk chair extremely uncomfortable.
The room and the dishes weren´t clean. The kitchen sink was leaking. I found stains on my pillow and a long nasty hair wrapped in the bath towel.
A very condescending employee tried to offer me an „upgrade“ in the same room category as apology and explicitely mentioned that, allegedly, most guests here were Platinum and Diamond members and stayed for several weeks, so I was not eligible for something better.
I was really happy to leave.
There's free laundry - 4 washers and 4 dryers, but you have to bring your own detergent. The dryers run quite hot on the High setting (I suggest using Low) and default to 75 minutes, but my loads of laundry were always dry in 25-30 minutes.
Parking is in a parking garage right behind the building.
The WiFi is super fast for a hotel, 30-40 megabits/sec according to speedtest.net. Google hangouts with the family worked well over it. There are Ethernet jacks in every room and I tested the speed on them with my laptop, but it appears the hardwired Ethernet is throttled to 5 megabit speeds (which is odd). WiFi could have been fast due to staying at a time of low occupancy, can't say how it performs when the hotel is full.
Only mishaps during my stay were a power failure only in my room one evening, but the staff corrected that in about 20 minutes. I wasn't cooking or anything like that, so it was a mystery what caused it.
Another night the fire alarm went off on my floor at 1:30am from someone smoking in their room, but the staff didn't know how to shut off the alarm so it ran for 20 minutes or so while they contacted someone off-site. I don't chalk this up to the hotel, just that the staff need to be better prepared and trained for things like this. It's not their fault, it's that the owners/managers need to train better.
I'd definitely stay here again!
Although this hotel was built in 2019, it felt much older. The toilet handle was loose, and you had to hold it down to get it to flush properly. The shower diverter was very loose, and the bathroom wall had a large, unpainted patch. The in-room phone didn’t work, and every time we turned on the bathroom sink, it smelled like rotten eggs, although the odor did fade after a minute. I’d still like to know why that happened.
We had to take out our own trash, which was frustrating, especially since the bin was located in the stairwell. We were only in the room at night, but the fridge made a constant sound like it was leaking, which was distracting. On the positive side, the beds were comfortable. There’s a covered parking garage, but it’s not connected to the hotel, so if it’s raining, you’ll get wet walking between the two. The staff were all very nice and pleasant.
