Detailed Reviews
An overnight trip to get away and wow it really did the job. We felt like we actually got away. While all covid protocol was in place and made you feel comfortable; you did not get the feeling that there was a pandemic at all besides seeing people in mask. From the minute you walked in you felt important and welcome like you were the only guest there. The attention to detail was superb. The hotel is gorgeous and an incredible place to explore with all the sitting rooms that made you feel you were at someoneās expensive home. The decor was both classic and modern and made me want to go home and redecorate. The huge king beds and crisp white sheets were magnificent. The Spa was the best I have experienced. Top of the line facilities and omg the masseuse were the best I have ever had. The roof top pool was very inviting and very spacious for a downtown rooftop. Views of the city, the layout of the cabanas and chairs made you feel like you were not at a public place. The food was amazing too along with the service. Every area of the hotels staff made you feel so comfortable, not stuffy, rather āwe are so glad you are here ā it was my daughters birthday and I mentioned it to the front office prior to arriving and they went out on their own and put decorations in the room upon arrival. It was way above and beyond. I not only will go back here, I will recommend it to all. The beautiful decor of the lobby and all areas were pristine and truly made you feel you were away from the worries of the world. Other hotels I have stayed at this summer there was a Big presence of the effects of covid, but not here. Kudos to The Adolphus for following guidelines without making you feel like there is a pandemic. I will return.

Beautiful hotel in good walking location for downtown. Rooms and common areas were renovated. Gym was amazing. While it was too cold to use the 7th fl pool, it would be a perfect spot to rest after a day in Dallas. Elevators need refinishing and for the lights to tell you which of the 5 to scurry to were not working. I didn't give it a perfect score because the helpfulness of the staff was inconsistent.
To be fair we arrived on New Years Day late evening. But I booked the hotel because they have 24 hr room service...what they meant was we have 4 cold things you can choose from. The front desk staff did try to be helpful and recommended a sports bar close by. We decided to head to our room for a limited room service, but stopped by the bar to grab a drink to take up and were dismissed by the bartender intent on closing up the bar. Leaving empty-handed for our room, we called down to order the cold chicken salad sandwiches, and were told we couldn't order a cocktail from room service (who also sounded a little put out). The chicken salad sandwich was inedible, gross flavor and way too spicy for someone one about to retire for the night and not wanting heartburn.
DO NOT allow them to put you on an alley side room. The noise from the alley to our 12th fl room woke me every night at 3am as the dumpsters were being emptied. On check-out I mentioned this to the front desk, and she said she would make note of it....wow, that made me feel so much better!?!?
As my heading says "remember its historic" and that can come with some things to think about.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
I spent three nights here as I had not been to the hotel in 25 years. It was amazing. It apparently underwent a renovation in 2017 and it shows. I had a corner junior suite with a great view. The room was large and the bathroom was a nice size as well, especially for an old hotel. There were masks worn and elevators were limited to avoid contact. There is a nice upscale shop in the frort and a nice coffee shop in Otto's. The old bistro is now City Hall Bistro and I enjoyed the meal I had there. The French Room was closed for dinner, but likely will re open soon. I found out that there is a pool on the 7th floor with a pool bar. The valet parking is a bit uch at $37+ per night and they pad the price with an $18 (+ tax) resort fee that has wifi, free coffee at Otto"s, and free beer at the bar. There was daily maid service despite the virus issue. The front staff was very good and very nice. The valet's are friendly and fast runners. The Adolphus has many good memories for me and this trip did not disappoint. I hope to be back.

When you first step in you will feel transported in time. I wanted to start this review by addressing a common complaint among the reviews on here. A lot of people were complaining how slow the elevator was. It does appear to be a vintage elevator that has been refurbished to modern standards. However slow would not be the word I use to describe it. If anything it went very very fast. The first few times I used it my ears actually popped as they didn't have time to adjust. There was never a wait for the elevator either, they seem to have more than 1 you can use.
I booked this trip with the help of Whitney at the concierge desk, she was wonderful and essential in making this a splendid christmas surprise for my significant other. The flowers were perfect, the french room knew about my allergies and was able to work around them creating a stress free dinner. There were strawberries and champagne in the room. Everything was perfect and whitney went above and beyond.
The corner king was spacious and had a lot of natural lighting. We chose the one with a separate tv in couch area which whitney precautioned was next to the service elevator, but honestly I didn't notice any noise or foot traffic. The whole hotel was calm and serene.
The bed was quality. Sheets and linens felt luxurious, I was expecting a softer bed, but that's my preference. My SO, he loved the firmness. Said he slept really well. I assume it's all a personal taste thing. I just wanted to mention it because nobody seems to ever mention the type of mattress.
The room service is fast, friendly and you do get quite a bit of food. We were pleasantly surprised.
They go all out with decorations for christmas. You'll truly feel like 10000 bucks and a little like Eloise at Christmas time. It really is a wonderful experience. Delicious cookies near their grand christmas tree!
All in all I'd highly reccomend staying.

On the evening of Jan 1st, my family had the opportunity to enjoy the igloo winter wonderland experience at the Rooftop of the amazing Adolphus Hotel in downtown Dallas. This spectacular hotel makes one feel like you've entered a different world away from the challenges we are facing in these unprecedented times. On arrival, Sam from reception greeted us with open arms and made the check-in process seamless and quick. The bell gentlemen made their presence known to assist us with whatever we needed. Also, the Adolphus had CDC guidelines in place from signs, social distancing, hand sanitizer on every floor/entryway, and masks available, if you did not enter with one. Our room was beautiful, sparkling clean, huge bedroom, living room and modern bathroom. We then entered the rooftop, into a winter wonderland design of igloos, curling, cabins with fireplaces surrounding the pool, with a dj and a bar. It was absolutely gorgeous. Quincy our host for the night, helped us secure the special night which was the surprise engagement my son had planned for his girlfriend. Quincy and her team helped us set the music, the videoing and pictures for the magical moment. It turned out to be the most spectacular engagement in history of the Adolphus rooftop. Champagne, cocktails, small groups of guests cheering on the new couple to be and not to mention the amazing igloo experience of hot fondue, crap dip and Mac and cheese balls. We all agreed as a family that there is no need to stay anywhere else in downtown Dallas, this has officially been named our staycation for years to come. Thank you to all the staff for the best night of 2021 thus far and it was only the 1st!!

This is a beautiful hotel and the staff was kind and helpful. Hand sanitizers were available in the lobby which was appreciated. The store inside of the hotel was amazing with carefully curated items that was fun to check out and purchase. Unfortunately due to Covid, the spa, main restaurant and afternoon tea were all closed/not offered. The morning my husband used the gym, he was surprised that there were no wipes available to wipe down the equipment after use. There was also no attendant there to do so either. I also wished the little go-to food shop that was open in the hotel offered fresh baked goods in individualized bags (which we did find at a nearby place called The Commissary). Instead, they offered the kind similar to ones offered on airplanes. Yuk. Also, there are a lot of homeless hanging out on the streets just outside the hotel. But not the fault of the hotel obviously. The only reason I'm not giving an excellent to the service was because they seemed to have too few workers on some days of our stay where sales and concierge people had to fill in as bellhops. The one who came to take our luggage was unable to lift anything so my husband ended up having to lift everything onto the cart himself. We would definitely stay here again though despite small drawbacks. It's a very lovely hotel.

We stayed at the Adolphus for NCAās last week.
Great hotel overall. I travel quite a bit for business and the character & customer service Is excellent here. Everyone tried to help if there is a need and the attitude if everyone I dealt with employed by the hotel is great.
2 small downsides. The Valet was not great if youāre parking. I think a lot has to do with the employee running the valet stand, not the valets themselves. I waited almost an hour for my car the first time and asked her 3 different times what the wait was. I finally went to an actual valet driver because I was pretty sure she had messed something up and sure enough she had pulled the wrong key but never checked it on any of the 3 occasions I went back to her. The next time it took 35 minutes. After tent I just went straight to the Valet drivers rather than call to the stand.
Second is the cost of room service. I donāt mind paying for a good meal but by the time they add delivery & all the surcharges breakfast can be $50 - $60 for just a few eggs, toast, and coffee.
Luckily the downstairs restaurant and sitting areas are very nice so if you are there for enjoyment and are not pressed for time itās a great atmosphere and the price becomes more reasonable.
Overall, itās a beautiful hotel in the midst of many cookie cutter national brands. If youāre there for work and are looking for everything to be fast and efficient this may not be the first choice.
However, if you are integrating the hotel as part of your experience in Dallas itās hard to beat.

Absolutely a wonderful weekend experience. The French Room - amazing dinner and the room, my gosh you feel as if you stepped back in time.
The Executive suite was perfect for the three days. A sectional couch, large desk and plenty of light. The bed was one of those experiences when you wake up, you really don't want to get up:)
The customer service was exceptional and given a huge wedding was occurring as well, it makes it that much more impressive.
The in room breakfasts were amazing as the eggs were fluffy and hot, 3-4 pieces of bacon and potatoes that melt in your mouth with wheat toast
To the Amy, Valene and Jenn of the Adolphus Spa, you all were amazing and you treated your guests as if we were all dignitaries visiting your luxurious environment. So special for us.
But most of all, a shout out to Andrew Milke, the Concierge. A very special thank you for all that you did to make my lady's birthday weekend so special. The arrangements you took care of so seamlessly culminated in 3 wonderful days we will never forget
Just an aside, the French room calls for formal attire on their web page and in the welcome package. But that was certainly not the case here. While we were dressed according to the French Room standard, the general appearance was overall casual.
Either they should remove the criteria or have a selection of coats for the men to wear if needed.

I did not realize that The Adolphus and The French Room has undergone a complete, tasteful renovation and update since the days of floral chintz...the hotel remains lovely in an understated, modern way while retaining its historical character. They did save the creaky, very charming old elevators...our room for two nights was in the more modern addition, and everything was clean and comfortable, with every amenity you could want. Our group of four ate a dinner and two breakfasts in the Bistro downstairs, and everyone was impressed with every entree. The duck confit omelette and eggs Benedict with tomato hollandaise were favorites. They allowed us to order a magnum from the French Room wine list, which we appreciated. The concierge Andrew took great care of us, and assisted with dinner reservations off the property-he even escorted us to his favorite neighborhood Italian place. You will be well taken care of at this historic hotel. If you are looking for a good hang-out, the bar and lounge areas were hopping at night!

The hotel is lovely and the rooms are well appointed. My problem was an instance of some missing clothes. While leaving the clothes in the room on my first night there is entirely my fault, the reason for switching rooms was something I had zero control over. Upon noticing soon after check in that the toilet did not flush, I called down to the front desk on my cell to alert them that I could get the phone to work and the bathroom toilet was not flushing.
I went to dinner and returned at 8:30 to find a note on the phone with directions on how to use it ( apparently Iām a moron and thereās actually an ON button) the toilet was still not working so I used the phone in the room to let them know. They assured me that someone would be right up. My friends and I went to the pool. We returned to the room after midnight to find a man in the bathroom. We had completely forgotten he was coming to fix the toilet because who excpects to find a strange man in your hotel bathroom after midnight. After we were done screaming he assured us that he was done and the toilet was working. It was not. He hadnāt even given the toilet a ā test flushā
We had to call the front desk and actually ask to switch rooms since 3 of us couldnāt go all night without a toilet. After packing everything up We were moved to the 18th floor. The room was dirty and there was a large pillar in the middle where it was impossible to see the TV. We were moved again. The hotel room was just as lovely as the first and the toilet worked!!
Upon waking the next morning I realized that I had left clothes in our first room dresser. I called the front desk at 10:30 am to let them know exactly where they were. They told me they would bring them to me ā in about 15 minutesā 15 minutes turned into about 50 hours. Sheridan was combative when I asked her if I could look for myself in the room or lost and found and assured me I hadnāt left any clothes. No one seemed to know who Maureen was who the put in charge and she never called me back.
I called again Saturday morning and spoke with Frank. He took an itemized list of what was exactly missing and promised me he would follow up. In a last ditch effort to have clean clothes on my early morning Sunday flight I called once more Saturday night and spoke to Payton who told me he would go look as soon as he could. I head a knock at my door that night and Frank had my clothes! Thank you Frank and Payton.
I called the hotel today to let them know that I travel to Dallas on business and while itās a beautiful hotel I wonāt be staying there again because they never once offered to āmake it rightā with me. When my clothes were finally returned they were wadded up in a plastic bag. I wasnāt even offered a glass of champagne or a free appetizer for all my trouble and time
I went to dinner and returned at 8:30 to find a note on the phone with directions on how to use it ( apparently Iām a moron and thereās actually an ON button) the toilet was still not working so I used the phone in the room to let them know.
