Nestled in the heart of downtown Dallas, the Magnolia Hotel Dallas Downtown is celebrated for its prime location, with easy access to local attractions, dining, and shops. However, guests have mixed feelings about the service, with some encountering exceptional assistance, while others report frustration with service lapses. The historic character of the hotel garners appreciation, even as opinions on its atmosphere and décor are divided.
Reviews often describe the rooms as spacious but in need of modernization and better upkeep. Value perceptions are marred by billing discrepancies and questions over cost justification. Amenities are deemed adequate yet not luxurious, and while cleanliness is generally satisfactory, some guests miss more rigorous housekeeping.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed 2 nights at the end of a 3 week trip. The room was spacious with a good size bathroom with a soak tub that was lovely. The beds were comfortable. The staff at reception were mostly helpful 2 out of the 3 we spoke to were very helpful with answering all our questions ( the other one wasn’t and just gave me a book with a map in it ). The other 2 were great with offering suggestions on how to get to the airport and sight seeing tips. The lounge was great for breakfast and dinner and the cookies in the evening were a nice touch. There is also coin operated washers and dryers that were very handy. Snack machines were also available. There is also a shuttle bus that will take you any where with in 3 miles of the hotel. We were not actually told about this on arrival, but over heard others talking about it.

Let me start by saying that there was a lot to love about this hotel. Nice staff, nice lobby, happy hour, location, large rooms., comfortable beds.
With that being said, this hotel needs a lot of updates and needs to pay more attention when cleaning. Lights flickered on and off, the rack in the shower was coming off the wall (I find it hard to believe the maid did not notice this when placing towels on it), something was splattered across the kitchen wall. There was a leak under the sink also.
In the kitchen, there were 2 of everything- 2 cups, 2 plates, 2 forks, 2 knives, but you had to share a spoon and steak knife. There were lots of pots but the only utensils for them was 1 slotted spoon and a potato masher?? We at least got a laugh out of that. There was also a dishwasher, but not enough dishes to fill it up and no other things provided to hand wash what we used. Kind of a big deal to me.
Also, if you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs because the windows are basically paper thin. You hear everything and noise machines only add more noise. It doesn’t drown anything out. We also only had 1 remote for both tv’s.
All in all I loved the bathrobe offered, the beds were comfy and I slept well once I sandwiched my head in between the pillows. There are wonderful restaurants and bars within walking distance, and everything else is just a Lyft ride away.
We would stay here again if they cleaned better, made improvements and updates and stocked the kitchen in a way that made sense.

My dad surprised my mom with a night away for her birthday at the Magnolia in Downtown Dallas. I wanted to surprise them with a treat delivered up to their room for when they arrived. When I called up there I spoke with Sonia, who was more than helpful. She gave me all the amenity options within my budget. After she realized it was for my moms birthday (because of the note I wanted to leave them) she took it upon herself to book my parents in a corner suite with a view of the city! THEN, she calls me back to confirm that they are going to cover the cost of the surprise and delight items I requested to have delivered!!
I work for a private hotel that has very high standards of service, so when I interact with other guest service operators I find myself catching small details of things that could be improved.
Y’ALL. I was so impressed with the professionalism and real-ness that Sonia (I’m sorry if I spelled your name wrong and you’re reading this) exhibited. It was like she even got excited for me about my moms birthday. Thank you to all of the staff that have directly and indirectly positively impacted my parents stay. This team has also made my night by seeing my parents so well taken care of before they even set foot in this building.
THANK YOU MAGNOLIA!

We had a nice stay here until about an hour before checkout. When my husband shaved in the morning, the sink was slow to drain. And when it came time for showers, the tub would not drain. After a while sloshing my feet in 6 inch-deep soapy water, I decided it was like taking a shower in a dirty gutter... It was certainly not an option to change rooms at that point. When we went to check out, we informed the clerk about the problem, and since our room was "prepaid" (we used points to pay for), she couldn't offer any kind of concession. She made a point of taking my cell phone number and said the manager would be in touch. Well, it has been 3 weeks and no phone call, letter or email. I am very dissappointed...

Our Daughter sent my Husband and I for my Birthday.
When we arrived there was absolutely no drinks no cups or anything. When we arrived the a/c wasn’t working but we were not told upon checking in the room was hot so went out and returned by about 8 pm when we opened the door we were hit with a blast of cold air we tried to adjust it even tried to turn it off but nothing because it was so cold we were very cold. So I called the front desk and was told to try a couple of things nothing worked. Finally the front desk said they would send engineering up after a hour and a half still freezing no engineer I went to get ready for bed and when I flushed the toilet water came flying out and was running into the floor. So we called the front desk advises that now not only were we still freezing their bathroom was flooding. She said she would send engineering up i asked if he was really coming she assured me he would. I told the right thing todo would be to move us it would be a pain but it would be better she refused and followed with and we discount nothing. I would advise you to choose another hotel we live in the area it was a small staycation so I know we will never stay there again nor will I book it for any members of my family or staff.

The hotel is in a great location downtown across from the ATT exchange plaza with the giant building size digital screen. Lots of security in the area as there are homeless people that frequent the area. Always felt safe no issues. The outside of the building is beautiful . Walking distance to everything downtown . 5$ Uber to the Perot Museum . We did not rent a car. Uber from hotel to DFW approximately 40$ 30 minutes away. Room #917 faced out over the ATT building across the street. The room was clean but outdated and needs to be upgraded. Carpet was dark and made the room feel dark. Room had two queen beds , a closet to hang clothes a desk to work at and a tv stand and night stand between the beds. The mini fridge and coffee maker were in the closet so if you want to make coffee you take the coffee pot out and set on desk. The black out curtains work well. No microwave in the room. There is a laundry on the 25th floor for 1.00 wash and 1.00 dry that the front desk will exchange your dollars for quarters . You must bring own soap for washer they don’t have a vending machine for that . There is a microwave , soda machine and ice machine in laundry room. Hotel lobby has free coffee daily. The flying horse cafe is connected to the hotel and has good coffee and breakfast sandwiches and pastries . Would stay again . Price for 4 nights over the weekend was 600.00 total with taxes and fees.

Unfortunately, the hotel is still using the excuse of covid to provide no services. No servicing of rooms, no bar, no restaurant, and not the previous offer of nightly cookies that was a nice touch (there was also an excuse of the hotel apparently being in the middle of a refurbishment, but I could see no sign of works, and that's still no excuse for not being prepared to clean a room at all during a 4 night stay).
This, together with the dirty and run down room means they are providing at best a 2 star service. They only have 2 slow lifts working to serve all 29 floors, though the hotel was eerily lacking guests on even Friday night. And there was seldom even a receptionist on duty. Once, after waiting for 5 minutes at reception I had to call out for someone to come as there were no staff at all, though someone did shuffle out of the office when I shouted. Maybe they should have a bell if they aren't providing a serviced reception?
In the room the windows were filthy, the cover on the duvet was thread bare and all pulled, carpet was stained, paintwork was cracked, marked and chipped, skirting board was damaged, while the furniture was cheap, damaged and marked, and the sofa was ripped, and stains where it hadn't been cleaned. The bathroom was better and a coffee drip machine was provided along with a fridge, which was helpful. The aircon only pumped out very cold air, irrespective of the temperature set. When we arrived the light in the bathroom wasn't working, which I would have expected basic housekeeping to pick up on. Even the bedside plug would only work when the main light was switched on! Overall nasty experience, as even with a budget hotel you'd expect it to be in good repair and clean.

Horrible customer service. The room was old and dirty (blood on the sink and hair in the sheets). There was only a single towel in the room in a double room, and when we asked for more (3 times) - we were told they didn’t have any because of “supply chain issues”. Same when I asked for a single pen. There was also vomit in the elevator that wasn’t cleaned up for hours. Do yourself a favor and book at Hampton Inn and Suites down the street. We switched hotels after the first night, and the staff here couldn’t be nicer or more helpful.

The experience started poorly and went down from there. There is an early check in charge of $50 which the valet explained to me, causing us to have to change our plans.
When we checked in at 10:30 p.m. and requested face soap and towels and offered to come down to pick them up, they told us they would be delivered. 15 minutes later, we called to check on them, and were told they did not have the staff to deliver them.
Check out was not better. No folio provided to the room or via e-mail. Valet was rude.
Not a good choice for a hotel in Dallas in my opinion.

This hotel is extremely dated, dark and not functional. Rooms do not look like they have been updated in 20 years. This hotel looks nothing like its photos! We were EXTREMELY disappointed by this hotel and would NEVER stay there again unless it undergoes extensive renovations, including it heating, cooling and hot water systems. From the minute we checked in our room was freezing, we had no hot water, could not get basic housekeeping, clean towels, etc. They also have closed the restaurant for renovations right before our large group arrived for a cheerleading competition!! And they knew they would have issues with hot water and closed restaurant but took our group anyway! So there was no food & beverage at hotel. Because we were there for a cheer leading competition and are on a very tight schedule, it makes it difficult to add in time to walk around town and try to find food to feed my daughter before our early morning meet time. Overall this experience was unacceptable and ultimately forced us to have to leave the hotel early and move to a hotel next door. To add insult to injury, when I checked out, I was told by the manager that I would receive a full refund. The Magnolia has not honored that and charged my credit card anyway for the full stay. I am still fighting with them to honor their word and ultimately will have to contest these charges with my credit card company. This hotel has proved to have unethical business practices from beginning to end. The only positive about this hotel is its location. It is right downtown and in a good location. However, there are too many other great hotels in same area to suffer staying here. Never again. We moved to The Adolphus hotel next door and it was perfection! Night and day differences!

It looked like the bar/restaurant was open. I check in late at night, so not sure if the pool area was open.
Hi
Don’t think they have the shuttle service , have used the Uber most of the time
Thanks
I actually live in the DFW metropolitan area. We had an UBER car from our house to the hotel.
I can’t help you out with airport or train transfers.
Sorry 😐
I cannot help you there as we didn’t use the shuttle. I would suggest calling the hotel directly if you are going to be using the shuttle services.
