The resort is a great place to relax and enjoy nature. There are lots of outdoor activities, such as, canoeing, biking, walking, and swimming. The grotto hot tub is a pleasant relaxing treat. Dinner at the restaurant is delicious. The carriage ride to breakfast is charming. The cabin bath, bed and kitchen are clean. The air exchange and ceiling fan...

I can't say enough good things about this retreat located about an hour north of Houston. We just got back from spending the weekend and had so much fun! We had an all inclusive package which included a two bedroom suite cabin (with whirlpool tub), dinner Friday night, horse drawn carriage ride to breakfast, breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner Saturday night...

We spent a Friday-Sunday at the Sam Houston Cabin. The accommodations are great. The Reception center is very nice. We got there late in the night and Security provided our registration. They were very polite and helpful. The cabin was well situated with very nice scenery and allowed for easy access to all the facilities. Well equipped with basic accommodations...

I am giving this resort a 3 star rating....1 star if you have small kids and 5 for adults. The positive: awesome resort which is a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of life. Lake is nice, premises are well maintained and the house we stayed in was amazing. 1 star if you have small kids: the alligators. As...

Let me start with the positive, the outdoor activities such as pool and swimming lake were very nice. The kids also enjoyed renting the canoes and exploring the grounds. OK now the indoors was the total opposite. The William B Travis was nothing short of disgusting all the way around. The cabin was filthy! Hair was found in two of...

I recommend calling for reservations. Small town Texas usually has a limited choice of eating out and rarely anything noteworthy. This restaurant is a hidden gem tucked in a beautiful secluded private property. The food is fresh with only a few options offered each day which are chef prepared. The on site herb garden ensures fresh ingredients and fresh flowerpot...

The Retreat at Artesian Lakes was just the place needed to get away from the city life for the weekend. Although the rain was hit and miss, we really enjoyed our cabin and the numerous activities available to participate in. Personally I would recommend choosing the canoe/boat rental over horseback riding because you can enjoy on your own schedule and...

Beautiful place with nature all around. The pool is gorgeous but with 100 degree temps the water is warm. Would be a great place to fish but too many turtles. The highlight of our stay has been the alligator that visits our deck every day. This is a great place for R&R because theres not a lot to do.

This place is truly one of my most favorite places in Texas!!! This was our third visit to Artesian Lakes and it won't be our last. It was our first time renting a house (Hall House) and we will definitely rent a house again! There were eight members of our family and we were comfortable in this house. The house...

We had a wonderful stay in the Big Easy cabin at Artesian Lakes. The cabin was very clean. Our group consisted of 18 people, including 10 teenagers, and never felt crowded. The cabin was far enough away from other cabins that the noise of having 10 teenagers wasn't a problem for anyone else. For other renters, here are some things...
