Second Rutherglen visit and once again ate dinner there two nights in a row , delicious salmon, local beers, wine and cider, really friendly staff and a dog friendly outdoor dining area. A credit to owners and staff including the excellent chef

Had dinner here with family. The food is good country pub grub with the usual standards and some daily specials - not a huge variety but suited us. The Kiev and the Steak got good wraps. The servings were very generous and service fast and friendly. The locals were welcoming and the pool table and darts provided some amusement. The... More

Had dinner here with family and friends and hotel has had a complete turn around. Dining room was extremely busy which was pleasing to see. Warmly welcomed by host who took our orders, with ample time to view a good menu. Everyone served almost at one time. Meals were very good with good comments from everyone.Have no hesitation on returning.

We both had the New England clam chowder, which my partner said is the best clam chowder he has had since years ago in Boston. Generous and tasty with just the right balance of creaminess and shellfish flavour, this was a delicious meal. The staff are very friendly, and the pub has a lovely warm atmosphere.

This place was packed for lunch on Sunday afternoon. Meals were good price and huge serves. Even more important was that they were delicious and fresh. Homemade chicken Kiev was beautifully cooked and every mouthful very tasty. Steak sandwich was massive and perfect!!!! Only criticism was the young girl working in the restaurant. Did not greet us, did not offer... More

Dogs welcome on leash in the courtyard, with good patio heaters making it cosy even on a wet winter day. Log fire inside. Lovely friendly staff and food which was well above normal pub standard and great value too. I had the salmon and Mum and Dad the clam chowder for which the chef is famous, having trained under a... Visiting Rutherglen for the first time, we saw the dining menu outside the hotel that looked appealing. Entering the hotel we receive a friendly greeting by proprietor Dave Wilson. The dining room was very cosy. The main menu of 'crowned calamari' prepared by chef Drew was the best calamari I have ever tasted. We topped the main off with a... More

We sampled another local venue tonight. It's usually thriving with young people in the courtyard but on a cold night in Rutherglen the yard was empty and the dining room was full. The fire kept us warm, the conversation with the neighbouring diners gave us good company and the food filled us up. We had vegetarian lasagne and Atlantic salmon... More

A historic pub on the main street of Rutherglen, serves good size pub food. We wanted to watch the footy on the TV so we were set up at the counter rather than the restaurant out the back, no problems. Great hospitality from Dave the publican, good for a chat, who has just taken over the ownership - he should... More

We dropped into the Victoria Hotel for lunch when driving through Rutherglen on a vacation. It's a great country pub now undergoing restoration by its new owners Hannah and Dave. This brave young couple have been there for 6 months and are bringing the once splendid establishment back to its former glory. The place first opened in the gold rush... More
