This is a beautiful old hotel built in the 1880's. The decor is true to the Victorian era and the rooms are charming, although the bathrooms are a little tired. We stayed in an upstairs room with a huge, comfortably furnished balcony with a view to the harbour. The bed was large and very comfortable and the drapes completely block...

We visited on Mother's Day for what was supposed to be a Buffet style High Tea. My Mother in Law purchased the voucher for me as a gift... 2 x $90 per head. We had previously booked in October but it was cancelled last minute by Vue Grand and we had already booked a weekend around the High Tea and...

Nice welcome greeting at the Reception. All staff were lovely. Room was nice but very tired & the bathroom vanity was peeling and lumpy showing through the padding under the timber veneer in large chunks, shower missing tile, bathroom door handle nearly came off in my hand, unsafe rickety bentwood chair, filthy balcony plaster with floor stain flicked onto plaster....

The Vue Grand Hotel is one of those iconic Victorian buildings that are so few and far between. I was keen to visit as I had heard new owners had recently taken over. Rooms are still being renovated gradually and the one I stayed in was large with enormously high ceilings. Felt like I was a queen! The dining room...

After booking a weekend away on Red Balloon we were looking forward to spending a weekend away and enjoy a beautiful degustation meal served in the historic dining room. Well that is not what we got! We checked in to our very old, very tired rooms, I felt like we stepped back in to a "bad taste" 70's room with...

We had a dining delight. As part of our package, we sat down to a 5 Course Tasting Plate Menu. What we were served up was nothing short of spectacular. Great food complimented by the expert wine matchings by Duncan for each course and the top service by our waiter Lachlan , made for a very memorable dining experience. All...

We have stayed here on numerous occasions because we love the heritage building. Also to mention the beautiful balcony views. Sleeping with the balcony doors open and smelling the sea breeze at night is divine. The new owner was extremely pleasant and hospitable, along with all the other staff we encountered. Buffet breakfast was excellent, and sitting in an historical...

I love old hotels and was keen to stay here. The receptionist was very friendly and efficient at both check in and check out. The room was comfortable with good linen and towels but the bathroom fittings are 70's plasticy with chipped finishes and bits missing or broken. Everything just felt tired and shabby. The kettle was awkward as it...

We had a disappointing three night stay at the Vue Grand. I'll start with the good things. The location of the hotel is brilliant. The room was scrupulously clean and housekeeping did a great job of trying to make this very tired room scrub up ok. The staff in the hotel (when you can find them) are friendly and very...

Admittedly Easter Saturday is a busy day but......... The front bar of the Vue Grand serves bar meals in a casual street-fronting environment. What was bad; the food order took an incredible time to place from a friendly wait person who seemed totally overwhelmed by the process. The drinks order took an age to arrive and the drinks that finally...
