We spent 3 nights in Villa # 3 and could not have asked for a better long weekend getaway. As soon as we walked in, we were met with a bright, airy and welcoming space. The view was stunning and right in the middle of all the wildlife action - kangaroos, deer, emu, birds galore! We even had one kangaroo who came right up to our patio for a visit every day, munching on one of the small bushes in front of our window. Watching the sunset each night was definitely something special. Each villa was separated enough that we literally never saw another person during our stay. The peace and tranquility was more than we could have asked for. The care that Jörg, Iris and Katrina take in preparing each villa for a visit is so evident - to begin with, everything was CLEAN, even by my standards! There was not a single space or item we used that felt like it had been used by someone else before us. It felt like they literally pull everything out and give it a once-over between each visit, it felt so well-maintained. The shower and bathroom were spotless, as was the kitchen and appliances - the stove was in such great condition, we almost felt bad to use it ourselves! We did though, and it worked great. We pretty much cooked for ourselves the whole time, only venturing out to lunch at Parker St Project once for my partner’s birthday (well worth the visit, food was amazing). So many thoughtful touches and provisions too - champagne, chocolates, bread, condiments, butter, milk, coffee pods, tea light candles, all the cookware, crockery, cutlery you could need, toiletries and even cleaning materials were provided! There was nothing we wanted for during our stay. In fact, next time we visit we’ll be sure not to stock up so much at the Woolies on the way! The compendiums of information about the property, the local area, things to do, hiking maps etc were incredibly useful and really helped to plan our days and our activities. Again, so much care and thoughtfulness put into this and so helpful to have someone else’s experience to guide us. The spa was the perfect way to unwind after a day of hiking around the Grampians. You can watch the sunset and all the wildlife while enjoying a glass of wine, surrounded by tea light candles and some beautiful music (which was really easy to AirPlay to the villa stereo too). We followed this with a late dinner out on the patio and honestly, we could not have been more relaxed if we’d tried. Thank you so much, Jörg, Iris and Katrina, for such an incredibly relaxing stay. We felt so at home and well-cared for, worth every cent and then some! We cannot wait to rebook our next visit with you, hopefully for a longer stay next time!…
Beautifully presented accommodation with luxury fittings & everything you require for a most comfortable stay . Immaculately clean & your room has full glass surround to enable you to enjoy both the light & of course the abundant wildlife that visits . Kangaroo , Emu, Deer & beautiful birds come so close you can enjoy an amazing experience of the natural world . Would certainly recommend Boroka for a relaxing & peaceful getaway.
This is one of the most well presented properties we have ever stayed at. Quality fixtures and amenities abound. Situated on a former sheep farm, the wildlife abounds and comes right to your back door. This is the place for luxury, peace and tranquillity with utmost privacy. The welcoming treats were lovely. An absolute pleasure to stay and congratulations to the proprietors for presenting the place as they do. Will stay again next time we visit.
As COVID has limited our travel options, we’ve stayed at Boroka several times over the last few years, with our last TA review in Jan 2021. As all the reviews have said, this remains a simply stunning setting enjoyed from the comfort of a fabulous five-star luxury residence. Our routine here remains the same - head out in the morning to explore the magnificent Grampians returning by mid-afternoon to enjoy the views and the wildlife with a few gins and nibbles. Within an hour we watched kangaroos, deer, emus, foxes and echidnas wandering past us. Several wallabies came up to drink from the water bowl, just feet from us. With so many native plants and bushes around the properties, the birdlife is incredible. As the sun sets behind the ranges the kookaburras start up and the stars come out - incredibly bright with no light distortion to spoil things. Three shooting stars tonight and a couple of satellites kept us entertained and distracted from the schnapps that we’d moved on to. Enjoying a very early morning spa bath as the animals wandered just metres from me took my relaxation to new and improved levels - equally grateful for the wonderful coffee machine (well done on moving to biodegradable coffee pots), fresh bread and local honey that’s provided to help me cope in the bath. Boroka’s had new owners for the last six months or so but the incredible standards and quality remains. The place is spotlessly clean with a few new introductions - plants, some indigenous touches and those coffee pods I mentioned. Everything you need is here, everything has been thought of. And if you do think of something then the wonderful Katrina will assist - she’s been an absolute delight to deal with as we prepared for this visit - and lovely to meet her this weekend. As my previous review said, we’ve been blessed to stay at some stunning places around the world. Nowhere makes us as happy as this place. Leave the TV off and the phones on silent and just enjoy this magnificent place.…
Another great stay... 4 night went by so quickly, so relaxing... basically you could what more... except a longer stay.... There are new owners and all is great.. everything it what you would want.... this was our 13th time at Boroka and we are all ready thinking of our next stay... We have tried over the years to find somewhere like Boroka, but to no avail... so we will simply return there..... maybe for a week next time.... you can just sit adn watch the wildlife in luxury it is great
We managed 3 days here in August just before the latest lockdown in Victoria but would have been happy to have been lockdown here. The location is superb. You are totally isolated from all the other guests and your only visitors are the mobs of kangaroos, deer and emu's that are constantly out front. The view of the nearby hills with the mist was enchanting. The units are large open plan and although we were there in winter we were perfectly warm. The facilities are absolutley top class and more than enough coffee, selection of teas and breakfast provisions. So good in fact we prepared our evening meals in the unit every night rather than eat out. Having a bath with just candles and that view was great. Looking forward to coming back in summer with the longer nights.
As everyone says. A perfect getaway. Highly recommended. Sparkling clean. Modern appliances. Including washing machine and dryer. Beautiful view. It was all the little touches that really made it stand out. Fluffy bath robes, selections of herbal teas, coffee machine, selection of spreads for breakfast toast an excellent bottle of red and so on. Wished we had booked longer
Our holiday was as advertised by Bob & Stephanie. The residence we stayed in was sparkling clean, modern and all of this things one would expect of a five star holiday home. Baroka Downs is remote and all one can see in the morning are the wildlife and magnificent mountain range. So quiet which is a welcome change from the city. Plenty of things to do in Hall Gap and the surrounds. We will surely return to enjoy such a modern, clean and exquisite place. Thanks…
What a fabulous secluded spot Boroka Downs is! Nestled on a Landcare-acknowledged property well off the highway about ten minutes from Hall's Gap, the five units are at least 100 metres apart from each other for quietness and privacy. Our unit faced across the paddocks towards the mountains and we gazed at the kangaroos, wallabies and emus that wandered past. The unit is very well appointed and thoughtfully so, with items such as local wine, jam and honey provided, along with fresh bread during our stay, and a star map and binoculars to make sense of the Milky Way that we can't see from Melbourne. And on our last day, our hosts Bob and Steph kindly let us stay a little longer while I finished a work Zoom meeting. Oh, and did I mention the silence at night? Sssshhh...
Cannot overstate how amazing this place is. As soon as we walked in, we were struck by the beautiful view and the immaculate accommodation. It was sparkling clean, and there were so many thoughtful touches that made us excited to settle into our 3 night stay. I proposed to my partner on the first night and it was perfect. Not another soul in sight, just us, the birds and the gorgeous kangaroos. You feel totally alone in nature here, even when all the rooms are occupied. There are so many fun things to do in the area but make sure you allow some time to sit in the spa and really ‘soak’ up the views! Thank you Stephanie and Bob for creating such a magical place, we will be back!
