Had a very relaxing and peaceful week in the Grass Tree Eco Lodge which is comfortable, well-equipped and has a beautiful outlook on to a delightful treescape. The Victoria Valley and Mount Abrupt can be glimpsed in the distance. There was plenty of wildlife, including birds, and the walks on the property are very good. Further afield, the walks up Mounts Sturgeon, Abrupt (Mud-Dadjug) and Bainggug took us to wonderful views and were well-worthwhile. The Wonderland escarpment is also within reach for a day trip. Harry and Iwona are lovely hosts and this is definitely an accommodation and location to return to!
We had a great time at Aquila Eco Lodges. We stayed in the Cherry Tree house - beautiful outlook in to the trees, and amazing hospitality from Harry and Iwona. We definitely recommend ordering a breakfast hamper (with freshly baked bread!! ) . The lodges are right next to the Grampians National Park and there are hiking trails a few minutes drive from the lodges - we hiked up Mount Abrupt which was 10 minutes drive from the lodge although there are other walks which are even closer. The lodges are fully sustainable too with an eco tourism accreditation. Highly recommended.
We have just spent a relaxing midweek break at Aquila Eco Lodges. Greeted by kangaroos at reception and our hosts Harry and Iwona who made sure the fire was blazing and port decanter full on our arrival. The tree house lodges are well equipped and bushland views are spectacular from every window, even the shower ! Iwona’s home made bread and breakfast hamper was amazing. Thankyou so much.
Where do I start. We were given a great reception by our host Harry and his amazing wild Kangaroos! My Husband and father in law and I were very impressed. Our accomodation was clean and comfortable and spacious. The fire was lit before our arrival making it so inviting and the kind gesture of a glass (or two) of port to warm us up.. The views of the bush was in it self divine with the added bonus of the kangaroos All in all we can certainly recommend Aquila. Harry and Iwona are lovely humans and great hosts Thank you! The town is also well worth a visit lots of beautiful walks to do at every level of fitness and the old bakery YUMMY food though the lady doing the coffee a lilt bit grumpy though her staff made up for her lack of front of house politeness
Lovely people - Harry and Iwona... and the accommodation was spot on, just beautiful. The bush setting was great to explore with walking tracks and animals to see, especially kangaroos. Dunkeld was only a short drive away too. Thank you
My family and some friends stayed in Lodge 1 at the Aquila Eco Resort. Set against the ancient crags of the Grampians, it was beautiful, peaceful, removed and yet comfortable. Harry and Iwona were very welcoming (lighting the fire well before we got there) and extremely hospitable. They're also tremendously big hearted people, as they rescue and hand-rear many kangaroos and wallabies, all of whom are semi domesticated, and always happy to come up to you for a pat and a nibble of any almonds you may have in your pocket! This is a special part of the world, and the proceeds from the lodges go towards conserving the flora and fauna, which makes holidaying here so much more meaningful and rewarding, especially when you get to interact with the creatures that benefit from your hotel charges. Some lovely strolls around the 100acres of native bushland is also a big plus, as are the conveniently located hikes, amenities, and the world famous Royal Mail hotel. Aquila Lodges is well worth it and a place that leaves you richer than when you arrived. …
The described accommodation is true to its word, we stayed in treehouse No4, the cleanliness and presentation was the best I have ever experienced for this style of accommodation. Harry and Iwona are the resident hosts and are a so very welcoming and are both very passionate about their retreat. They both work tirelessly to maintain the buildings and interiors so they are comfortable and ready to simply relax into. The peace and tranquility was absolutely fantastic, from the warmth of the timbers and the Bush land and distant mountain views from every large window was just so relaxing. I highly recommend a stay and will be back again for a longer visit next time round.
This property is Devine! Hosts are so lovely and laid back. You are not a number or guest 823, they treat you as if you are family coming to stay, so chilled and relaxed its so warming to receive such genuine customer service! They cabins are wonderful with great views, comfy beds also. Would definitely recommend this place to couples wanting a weekend getaway, this is not a family 'resort'
The hosts Iwona and Harry were absolutely incredible. So lovely and helpful. The lodge was breathtaking. It was so good to shut off from the world surrounded by gorgeous nature... Will definitely be back and highly recommend.
What an amazing property and even better hosts, We stayed in the treehouse lodge and it was absolutely beautiful to wake up surrounded by greenery and trees and just completely relax. The wood fire made for extra comfort and the hosts made sure every single one of our requests and questions were answered and went above and beyond. we can not thank them enough for our beautiful stay. Hint- if you go to the golf course just before dusk, you will be surrounded by kangaroos and wildlife.
