Detailed Reviews
We stayed at this motel making our way from NSW during the summer bushfires and we literally booked this on the road. We received a warm welcome while booking and on check in. The hosts were amazing and the room was spacious and spotless. No hesitation in recommending this motel.

The owners are amazing.
Fantastic spacious and very clean modern room.
Service at reception and the
BIRD N BIKE Cafe run by them which is
attached at the front of the Motel is second to none.
Friendly, bubbly nature and fantastic food.
Locals and travelers like ourselves where constantly dropping in.
I had a delicious big breakfast and the coffee was awesome.
If in the area you must drop in for food or accommodation.

We have stayed at the Lydoun Motor Inn on several occasions over the years. It has remained very good value in a handy location for visiting nearby towns like Rutherglen, Beechworth, Albury/Wodonga and Wangaratta. Our room was very clean and very well set up with a microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge, cups, glasses, plates and cutlery. We will definitely stay there again.

Lydoun Motel Chiltern is the classic Aussie rural motel, and does it exceptionally well. Beds are comfortable, with options of doona or blankets, with soft and not so soft pillows. Rooms are spotless, including the bathroom. Coffee and tea making facilities and a toaster are already in the room, but a request at reception gets you additional crockery and cutlery if needed. I was there in winter, but the heater kept the room comfortably warm. It is close to the Hume Highway and a rail line, but I heard nothing of them when I had one of my best sleeps ever.
This is my new stop-over spot on the Hume Highway.

Our cycle group stayed here at the start of our 5 day cycle ride. The motel is good, if a bit close to rail crossing with many freight trains sounding their whistles during the night. Facilities very good and service excellent. Easy walk into town for shops, cafes etc, and around Lake Anderson.

Needing a bed for the night in the way back to Melbourne, I searched for a place close to the Hume Highway, and couldn’t have been happier with the experience at the Lydoun Motel.
Arriving about 7pm having given only 20 minutes notice of my arrival, I was greeted by the very friendly owner.
The room was spotlessly clean, and the aircon already turned on for my arrival.
The bathroom is modern, and again spotlessly clean. There is a fringe and items for tea/coffee making .
There is a cafe which opens from Wednesday to Friday (not open when I stayed)
The cafe/bakery in Chiltern is open from 8am and does great coffee and food.
I found the Lydoun a high quality example of a traditional motel, and would definitely stay there again.

Unit was very clean, located near Chiltern's main street. Unfortunately no breakfast is available and Chiltern is pretty well closed for business on Mondays. There is an IGA open until around 6pm where you can scrounge up supplies for breakfast. Trains passing nearby are very noisy. The reception people are very friendly and helpful.

Booked ahead and even when we crossed the railway line didn’t realise it was so close: right next door. Our first realisation was when the first train rumbled by, so noisy, but there were only three between 7 and 10 pm and only two after until 7am. The two after 10 didn’t wake me so it must have been not too bad.
The room was clean and comfortable and otherwise quiet. As we were distant from the office the wifi was a bit fickle but ok. The bed was comfortable and we slept fine.

Stayed only one night.
Clean and cosy room, with everything that you need.
Very nice service, very helpful and kind. Close to motorway and easy access.
I can highly recommend it for everyone who wants to take a good brake and rest when traveling in the area.

We stayed for one night and it cost $120
Pros
Spotlessly clean
Comfy beds
Friendly owners
Well kept gardens and pool
Cons
A bit far from the main street
Very close to the railway line, but incredibly, we slept well
Chiltern is a charming little town but there are very few eating options.
We drove 20 minutes to Rutherglen which has lots of great restaurants.
Highly recommended but bring your earplugs.
