Detailed Reviews
This hotel is amazing in every respect. The hotel radiates an old time welcoming atmosphere as soon as you walk in. It’s like a step back in time. The staff made us feel like locals straight off the bat. The room itself was spotless and the bed very comfortable with lovely touches like locally made fruit biscuits waiting. Finishing off the evening with dessert (made to a standard I have only seen in very expensive Melbourne restaurants ) and cocktails in front of the fireplace made the whole experience relaxing. The hotel is very well priced and you certainly get more than you pay for. We will be back for sure.

Jackie was very helpful over the phone, Patrick was very cheerful, welcoming and very accommodating on arrival.
The room was cosy, the bed very comfortable, nice to sit on the balcony and watch the world go by. Having your own toilet and shower was good but if you are a bigger sized person I think it would be a bit tight as it was very small. The beer garden looks amazing and would be a very relaxing place to spend an afternoon with drink or 3. The meal I had was nice but lacked in size, there is no air conditioning in the room so could get very uncomfortable in hot weather but there was a ceiling fan. For a first visit, I was very impressed and can’t wait to go back for another night or 2. Thanks to all your staff.

Located in the heart of Alexandra, this small hotel caters to those who want a more intermate experience than a motel. Be warned that the rooms are small with very small en-suites, but clean and tastefully furnished. The restaurant is popular with locals, so book ahead - its worth it and the breakfasts are also a delight. IF you are doing the Victorian cycle trail, they also provide a cycle lockup with charging points for the ebikes - we would stay here again.

+1
My husband & I arrived in the early evening on Friday the 17th of November, no one was willing to help us with the check-in process. A young waitress took us into the main front bar and the Head Barman didn’t want to assist. He told the young waitress to pass it onto a young lad at the other end of the bar. He took our names, gave us the keys, quick directions and that was it.
We booked the Queen room out the back of the pub, $160 per night $320 total stay. The room was not anything like what it was described on your website. I was never told it was near the main kitchen where it was so noisy. It was Room 6, and pictures of our Queen Room on the ground floor have been provided. It certainly was not worth $320.00,
it was an absolute dump.
Our entrance door was surrounded by cigarette butts, overflowing ashtrays on the side, dishes left on trays outside other doors which did not get picked up for 1 1/2 days. There were no Toiletries provided and no desk either, yet it stated it on the features of the booking on the hotel website. Your website description of the Room says, Lovely Queen Private Room, it was not lovely, it was disgusting. THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING.
Nothing had been turned on, the minibar fridge was filthy inside, dirt and brown stains appeared in all parts of the small fridge, the microwave was dirty on all 4 insides, the cutlery and glassware were dirty, there was a white filtered cigarette butt on the rug and nothing had been vacuumed, your windows sills had dirt n dust and had not been wiped down, the mirrors in the bathroom had rust on the bottom of the base and there were splash marks on the mirror over the sink. The only clean items were the white towels, and the sheets on the bed. Didn’t want to use your shower, as the place had not been sanitised or cleaned properly, we didn’t want to take a chance.
On both evenings when we left to go out for dinner, your Head Kitchen Chef was always sitting outside our front door, smoking his cigarettes and drinking his VB cans. He was too close to our Front Door. Each time we went out &/or returned to our room, he would give us a disgusted look. Why he was doing that, I have no idea, yet his continuous smoking was seeping through our front entrance door and it was very unpleasant.
We won’t be coming back.

Our stay at the Alexandra Hotel was excellent. Jackie was welcoming, helpful and accommodating. Our room was cosy and comfortable and we made good use of the sitting room and the courtyard. Dinner options were varied and we thoroughly enjoyed our choices of kofta, Dobson’s chips and duck ragout pasta. The dessert cocktail finished off a delightful dinner. Would highly recommend.

Enjoyed the most delicious lunch in a relaxed , welcoming atmosphere.
I had the lamb which was cooked to perfection , served with a salad that was delicious. Home baked bread was the best I’ve EVER had. My husband said his chicken was absolutely amazing too. Deserts - outstanding!
We have been here for breakfast , lunch & dinner and every visit has been delicious. 10/10!

We stayed at this hotel in 2022, when it was owned and run by a beautiful young couple. The husband was the chef and wife was front of house.
In 2022 it was the most beautiful stay and the most beautiful dinner!! A memory we will never forget!
Upon arrival today, we were shocked of the state of this beautiful hotel, it is very much like a public bar that has lost all its charm.
After checking in we walked up the dark dreary stairs, opened the door of our room that had not been made up from the previous guests and filthy.
We did not stay and asked for a refund.
The entire website represents what the previous owners created, it is now nothing like it was!
So disappointing!

We enjoyed the three course option on a recent trip to Alexandra. From the beginning our experience was incredible. A phone call to confirm our booking, the option to sit inside or outside, accommodating our two year old child, attentive and friendly staff, wonderful atmosphere and the food was stunningly beautiful. Thankyou to the staff for making us feel so welcome and for ensuring we had a memorable experience. We will be making the road trip back very soon.

Greeted by a friendly, welcoming team - Jackie, Patrick and Dan. Stayed 2 nights in the Queen room with clean, comfortable surroundings. You need to stay so that you can enjoy the delicious, innovative cuisine (with local wines) that is an absolute highlight of the visit. Treat yourselves - you won't be disappointed.
Definitely for adults - kids welcome but really would they appreciate such quality?

No kids menu
Overpriced for what you get. Veggie sides have to be purchased separately.
Disappointed in the variety available and food took a long time to come.
The kitchen did make some effort to accommodate my kids.

Hi Lydia, thanks for the review. As per our response to your review on google, we've never had a designated kids menu. Saying that, we do love to see families and children enjoying each others company, celebrating family moments and enjoying good food. Our team will always do our best to adapt the seasonal menu and assist with choices for children, and people with food allergies and dietary requirements. Our menu can be found on our website and all social platforms that we participate in. Thanks for visiting this beautiful part of Victoria
