We were going to a gig at the Hordern Pavilion and phoned the Hughenden who had two rooms left, it was a very busy weekend for Sydney. Decided on the 'cosy' room as we were literally just going to be sleeping there before leaving early in the morning. Still, everyone wants a nice room, if only for a night. On... More

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We have been completing our renovations in stages, we started with our Deluxe and Standard Plus rooms initially and most recently we have been working on the common areas and restaurant. We are steadily working our way through all the rooms. We do also have Terrace Apartments across the road... More

This is the first time I have written a negative review. Usually when you have a bad experience at a hotel the manager apologises profusely and tries to make it up to you. This was not the case at the Hughenden. When I discussed the issues below with the manager his response was "I am sorry you feel that way".... More

I've stayed at the Hughenden several times. I like the location in Woollahra, just off of Oxford Street, Paddington. There is upscale shopping and restaurants on Queen Street and more prosaic shops on Oxford. And, Centennial Park is just around the corner for a bit of green open space. There are frequent busses on Oxford into the CBD. Nearest train... More

We stayed here with friends much against my better judgement. I had read previous reviews and was certainly not impressed. However our friends said no you'll like it is slightly shabby without the chic. Well I think it is a little more than shabby. We were allocated a pet room which had tiled floors - absolutely freezing to walk across... More

We selected this place for a two-night stay because of its location and beautiful front facade. On arrival, we felt happy with our choice as we walked into the building and past the classic looking lounge, until we saw our room and our hearts sank! The contrast between our room and everything else about the hotel was jaw-dropping. What a... More

We stayed here for three nights on a business visit to Sydney - so booked an inexpensive room Pros - never had any noise, exceptionally helpful and friendly service, genuinely authentic feeling home from the Victorian era, with lovely bits and bobs around the place - the Hughendef does cottage very well. The hotel is clean, functional and sweet. I... More

When one hears the term "boutique hotel" you immediately start thinking about a cute little get away. Don't. The Hughenden is more basic than a Motel Six. The only redeeming feature is the lobby and bar, but try as I might I couldn't spend all my time there. The rooms are basic. My television didn't work. When I asked where... More

The Hughenden hotel is situated in the inner Sydney suburbs, a short ($3.50) bus trip from downtown / circular quays. It's a lovely homely place, with loads of antique artefacts to peruse. Many paintings, drawings and pictures adorn the walls, which all have a story or connection with the hotel. They add a different perspective & the bar/lounge is like... More

We recently stayed in room 22. My first requirement for accommodation is a clean room, so we were immediately disappointed. Our room at the Hughenden was shabby, with a lot of mould in the bathroom and windowsills, and the bathroom floor needed a good scrub. I could write my name in the dust on the bedside lamp base. The wardrobe... More

We stay here occasionally when the rugby union is on at the nearby stadium as it's a short walk from the hotel. Woollahra town centre is also nearby, offering plenty of dining options.
