The Travelodge Cardiff M4 Hotel is frequently commended for its welcoming service, though occasional staffing concerns do arise. Its strategic location is a hit with guests, offering convenient access to attractions despite some traffic noise. The atmosphere is generally appreciated for its tranquility and modern touch, while the rooms are deemed clean and practical, yet experiences with upkeep and noise dampen the satisfaction for some.
Amenities, including diverse dining options, are well-received, though there's room for enhancement. Overall, the hotel is seen as providing good value, particularly for brief visits.

Detailed Reviews
Hotel was basic but our room had all we needed for a 3 night break, was quiet considering it backed onto the lorry parking area and well maintained, 3 types of chargers in the car park meant I could charge on the Low Charger overnight at 45p/kWh rather than 79p/kWh on the fast or medium chargers. 2 low, 2 medium and 12 new fast chargers in the car park! Location was perfect, right by the M4, easy for access to the valleys and Brecon Beacons, close to Cardiff and the Bay and not far from Barry Island (what's occurring?) and Porthcawl/Swansea. Spoilt for choice for days out! Costa, Greggs, BurgerKing and WHSmith all in the complex. Breakfast is a box - so don't let the website picture of a cooked brekkie fool you.... If I stayed again I would bring an electric coolbox for my milk etc as I love a cuppa or two in the evenings and when I wake up! Would happily stay there again for the price we paid and because charging was cheap, Win win!

We stayed here as we were going to a wedding nearby and it was fine for our uses. Lovely helpful staff on both days and a spotless refurbished room with twin beds . I have stayed in a motorway hotel before and this was much better - not busy at night (we overlooked the carpark so this helped ) new windows which contained the outside noise too. However - the corridors desperately need a lick of paint - feel like they haven’t been touched since it first opened - not got the brand feel at all. The biggest thing it needs is new doors to the rooms. We were told (when they were sitting out out lock which had stuck ) that the new doors were due last Christmas but hadn’t arrived so this whole concern may well be sorted soon (hence my 4 rather than 3 stars). With this area updated it would make the whole experience much better and improve security bad the doors would not need a visit to the reception desk to get them to lock. . - it’s not the ritz and not ritz prices - but for a couple of nights enroute where you just want a clean place to sleep it does the job. Tv in the room , new shower and taps, kettle in good order and new windows /beds/linen.

There is always a friendly warm welcome from Ethan and all the staff as soon as I arrive. I have got many bookings throughout the year and even on my second visit I was remembered and greeted like an old friend! Beds are very comfortable, lovely pillows (no need to bring my own with me as I sometimes do). The room is very clean with plenty of towels and coffee making items, and hotel staff are more than happy to provide more whenever you need them. I particularly like the updated rooms, with multi charging sockets, and relaxing decor. I particularly like the large long desk area for sorting my things out or writing/using laptop. There is ample storage for everything you might bring. There is a WHSmith, Greggs, Costa Coffee and Burger King for food, drink and bits, which some are open really late - very helpful! Nothing to not like actually!

Hotel is under staffed. The place seems to be falling apart considering it's had a re vamp. Stayed last week and had to be moved due to shower water wouldn't knock off and got moved to a room which lacked some facilities. Stayed last night and no TV working on any of the rooms which management knows they had gone the day before and wouldn't call maintenance out to fix them due to cost. The manager of that hotel must be walking around with his eyes closed and can't see what I could that two staff to clean all rooms wasn't enough no matter how hard I saw them working and rooms showed things being missed like no soap in dispensers and floors that had not been hoovered especially bathroom area. People are not going to go back as I'm not any longer due to it twice on the go that problems with the room. The woman on the reception was sorting out my room issues while guests were kept waiting for to the place being under staffed. That woman deserves a lot more respect for the issues that she's got to face every day with dissatisfied guests which she has to face as the manager never seems to be there who needs to hear and stay in one to see how poor the quality is in staying there and pay the staff a proper wage and so staff will work there and can at least double up as it's to much for two people and one receptionist to handle.

My stay was made awesome due to the fact that Laura booked me in and was so warm and welcoming and was very helpful.
Laura went above and beyond making my stay a joy be giving me pointers on where to go to visit and places to eat and her knowledge of the surrounding areas was helpful.
I had a couple of issues with my room and Laura made every effort to assist me with the issues and sorted them out with a smile on her face.
Laura is a truly dedicated member of staff and a true professional.

The bathroom toilet had used sanitary products from previous guests. The shower soap dispenser did not have any soap inside. The other room we booked for family opposite ours was also in the same condition. Never anyone in reception to raise any issues.

I have used this M4 travel lodge a few times and I will say it’s the best place to stay for a cheap budget overnight price and the staff are always friendly and always willing to keep there customers happy. I asked Laura from the m4 travel lodge to provide me with extra sugar coffee and milk for my overnight stay and she was happy to hand over enough to last me a few days thank you kindly but any left over I will be sure to put them to good use when I am in work. Thank you again Laura your a star 5***** from me

Ok stay, we attended a wedding and it was close to venue.
Hotel was very basic and average and cleanliness needs to be improved. The bed had blood stains on the sheet. We used the fan and as soon as we turned it on all dust came out of it. Friendly staff but very very basic.

Stayed for 1 night with my daughter as we had tickets to see Billy Joel at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Easy to find right off the motorway at the services. Rang the day before and staff really helpful with advice on early check in and taxi services to get to and back from the concert. Check in smooth. Stayed in a family room that was well aired, spotlessly clean and comfortable. As 2 women travelling together felt secure and even though the accommodation was full due to the concert was very quiet and we were not disturbed. Room had kettle and plenty of supplies to make tea and coffee. Proper toilet rolls (not paper dispenser) and nice fluffy white towels in bathroom. Shower over bath nice hot water. All staff very friendly and helpful. Nice Costa coffee on same site for drinks and breakfast, also burger king and a WH Smith. Plenty parking free if you register your vehicle at reception. Easy access into Cardiff by taxi - reception will advise on services they use regularly.

I stayed there for 2 nights as I travelled for work.
They have very nice & friendly staff, I felt very welcomed.
There is a big car park which is very convenient.
This Hotel is good value for money but as it is close to the motorway you can of course hear the noise. I would stay there again
