Dam View Cottage was built in the 1880's, a beautifully restored former shop, bakery & post office, converted into a tasteful & comfortable B & B which overlooks Lake Vyrnwy Dam wall, woodlands, moorlands and the valley. We offer 3 double bedrooms, all en-suite. It's a place to enjoy peace and tranquility, or to be out enjoying activities such as sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, fly fishing, cycling, abseiling, the children's wild play park, archery and many hiking trails. The famous Glyndwr's way National Trail passes our front door, so come along & explore!

The name of this B&B does not kid - it really does have great dam views. The location is great and a lot of activities are available walking distance if you don't feel like driving - there is access to nice hiking trails, little marina where you can rent stand up paddleboards or kayaks, a nice restaurant in the nearby hotel, and more. The owners are super nice and have lots of local knowledge so they could give us advice on where to go and what to see. Breakfast was included in the price, and you can also book dinner if you feel like staying in. They have some nice options on the menu, and after eating deep fried pub food for a week, it was so nice to have a healthy home cooked meal. They also do packed lunches if you like, which is very handy if you want to go for a hike or spend the day outdoors. All in all we had a very relaxing stay and enjoyed our first visit to Wales.

Dam View Cottage is positioned with uninterrupted views of the beautiful dam on Lake Vyrnwy. We drove down from Bala after visiting Snowdon and were treated with epic valley views on approach to the lake.

Free parking is available directly opposite the B&B and host David was really helpful in the lead up to arrival, allowing us late check-in at 9pm.

Our room was a king sized double with views of the dam. The room was fresh, cozy and well equipped with all the essentials you’d expect. We were particularly pleased with the teas, coffees, hot chocolate and biscuit treats! As well as the smart TV and monsoon shower.

For breakfast, David cooked my partner a delicious full English, made to order. I chose yogurt with fresh fruit and muesli. We both sampled the local cloudy apple juice, as well as having unlimited tea and coffee. During breakfast we enjoyed a socially-distanced chat with the other guests and our hosts David and Pauline. Both of whom are new to the area, yet already have a wealth of knowledge on local activities, trails and the best viewpoints to get spectacular photos.

We couldn’t believe Dam View Cottage has only just opened to guests - it felt like David and Pauline have been running it for years based on the quality of the accommodation, enthusiasm for the area and welcoming hospitality. We can’t wait to return for a longer stay so that we can make the most of all Lake Vyrnwy has to offer.

The fact that Dam View only has 3 bedrooms means you’re guaranteed a tranquil stay and we felt that the Covid measures were more than sufficient.

The accommodation is set at a stunning location. The rooms and overall cleanliness were spot on and I cant thank the hosts enough who went far beyond my expectations and out of their way to make us feel comfortable and even arranged special Halaal meats just so we were not limited to vegetarian options. This is something no other host did.
I love staying at B&B`s and frequently book in various locations around the UK and this one is definitely made the top of my list.

Thank you Pauline and David

A friend and I had booked in for two nights in June as we were attending a friend’s wedding at a hotel nearby.

David contacted me with directions as he stated it could be tricky, the directions were spot on .

We asked the hosts if there would be a local taxi firm however they offered to take us and pick us up from the venue for a very small fee.

Upon arrival we were greeted by Pauline, who took my bag to my room and even put our prosecco in the fridge to chill!

We had an evening meal I had the lamb shank which was delicious and even came with a side of mint sauce and the cheesecake for dessert.

The twin room was lovely and comfortable. We had a cooked breakfast each morning which was delicious.

We walked each morning with suggested routes from David and interesting information about the local area.

We were both sad to leave the Dam View Cottage, it was quite literally a chocolate box cottage I would 100% return, thank you!

We had such an incredible time staying at Dam View Cottage! You can’t beat the beautiful location right next to the lake, and with all the hiking paths and picturesque forest on your doorstep, there are so many wonderful things to do and see. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and the the hosts were extra accommodating whenever we needed anything. And just when you think it couldn’t get any better, the cooked breakfast was served to order. We also opted in for additional packed lunches and dinners which were home cooked and delicious. We can’t wait to visit again!

We had an amazing stay at Dam View Cottage for the weekend. We had room 1 which had a beautiful view of the dam, was spacious, clean, cosy, felt very homely, and such good value for money. There was a fridge to store goodies and wine etc which was ideal. Breakfast was lovely with lots of choice and the owners David and Pauline were perfect hosts, nothing was to much trouble and they were also very informative about the local area.
We went to Rhiwargor Waterfall which was 10 minute's from the B&B, what a lovely walk and an amazing waterfall. If you like the outdoors there's so much to do at lake Vyrnwy including walking, bike riding, watersports, shooting, fishing and much more.
We'll be going back very soon and would definitely recommend a stay at Dam View B&B.

The Dam view b&b gave us the perfect base to explore the mountains, lakes and coast of that region of Wales. From the moment we arrived until leaving after four wonderful nights being looked after by the lovely Pauline and David we felt completely at home and very happy.
We had a splendid room with a view over the valley to the dam and the forests and hills beyond, it was large with a super king sized bed, a two seater sofa and a well appointed en-suite, to top it all off it was immaculate and very clean.
We chose to eat at the Dam view each night and were delighted with the delicious food on offer, all at a very reasonable price too.
Our hosts were welcoming and attentive to our needs throughout our stay, we arrived as guests and left as friends.

We have just come back from a wonderful 2-night stay at Dam View Cottage and we have enjoyed every second of it! The location is perfect and the view of the dam from the house couldn't get any better. Pauline and David have been the perfect hosts! They are super friendly, very knowledgeable of the area and always happy to recommend things to do to make sure you don't miss out on anything! Home cooked breakfasts and evening meals were exactly what we needed after a long day of exploring! Always served with a smile and friendly conversation :) We stayed in bedroom 2, which had a fantastic view of the valley and dam wall. The room has a private ensuite, seating area, a TV with internet connection and a comfy double bed. The house is beautifully decorated, making you feel at home and everything was spotless! We definitely recommend this - this is the gold standard of a Bed and Breakfast break in the countryside! Thank you Pauline and David for your hospitality! We will be back for sure!

Nothing is too much trouble for Pauline and David at this stylish, but supremely comfortable B&B. Wet hikers are more than welcome and we voted their shower the best in our 9-day hike through Wales. Amazing attention to detail in every aspect of the room. Great food and company - and yes, it was like staying with old friends. If you are thinking of staying somewhere for a few nights on your trip around Wales, then you could not do better than Dam View Cottage.

This is our second visit to Dam view cottage,. To celebrate our Pearl wedding anniversary we wanted adventure and relaxation. The location is perfect to visit the lake and waterfalls in the surrounding area.
David and Pauline are the most charming hosts and will go the extra mile to help you any way they can. They have great knowledge and advice of the area.
Our room was fresh, clean and cozy with an amazing view of the Dam wall.
Breakfast and evening meals were delicious with a great selection to choose from, pack lunch was also available should you choose to adventure further.
We have enjoyed our stay so much we plan on booking our third visit in the summer.
I can highly recommend Dam view Cottage, thank you for your hospitality and look forward to seeing you again soon 😊
