A completely restored 17th century Welsh longhouse in it's own dell close to the Pistyll Rhaidr waterfall and Lake Vyrnwy. Hotel quality at bed and breakfast prices. A peaceful haven for all.

Sorry, but it is impossible to add anything that has not been said before - simply first class in every respect. Every review has awarded this establishment five stars, and for good reason. The location is idyllic, the facilities superb and the company outstanding. Plenty of (recommended) eating places nearby too.

I spent 4 nights at Rhyd Hir, which is a fantastic B&B, hidden among the Wales hills. Diane and David could not have been better hosts. Diane's breakfast were among the best I had in Wales (and UK for 20 years). David's advises on the best things to see and to do in the region were really valuable. In 3 days, I couldn't follow all of them and will certainly be back. The room with the en suite bathroom was spacious and in my opinion deserves more than 5 stars, like the B&B itself. Such a peaceful spot! Even my Bonnie was welcome and safely parked under the room window. Thank you and congrats to both of you for having created such a high level B&B with a real "feel at home" atmosphere.

David and Diane are very welcoming and cannot do enough for you. Our bedroom was a good size and very comfortable with all the usual facilities - apart from a TV, which did not really concern us. To make up for that there are blackcaps and willow warblers singing outside the bedroom window. The breakfast is excellent, including Diane`s homemade marmalade and jams. David has plenty of recommendations of places to eat in the evening and provides detailed instructions of how to get there. If you want to enjoy the Welsh countryside and are not bothered about watching TV whilst you are away then this is a good place to stay.

Response from Dafydd_G, Owner at Rhyd Hir B&B
Responded 6 Jul 2015
Thank you so much for your lovely comments. We decided years ago after consultation with many guests that the majority came to Rhyd Hir B&B to "get away from it all" which included the TV. However, if any guest wishes to watch TV while they stay with us, we are happy to provide them with a laptop to enable them to watch live or TV on Demand from the various providers. We also have free WiFi throughout the house and Mobile Phone base stations for EE, Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone smartphone users (mobile phone service is very poor here).

We had a most enjoyable visit. David was a great tour guide taking us on several sight seeing trips. He has an extensive historical knowledge of UK. Diane is an excellent chef and the meals were of delightful epicurean distinction. Anita did her tai chi in the beautiful gardens. The accommodations were excellent. This was a warm, comfortable and homey place to stay.

Lovely spot, plenty to do in and around the area, with David's knowledge of the area. Even provided with personal maps for whatever tour required, walking or motoring, or a bit of both. Wonderful welcome each time we visit, bed sooo comfortable, lovely room. Breakfast delightful and also evening meals provided by Diane, along with tasty homemade jam and marmalade. Lovely restaurant not too far away in the village. Re-visit at least once a year, if not more.

We have stayed at Rhyd Hir several times at various times of the year. The hosts, David & Diane offer a very warm welcome. They are extremely knowledgeable about what is available locally and David even provided us with guided tours of nearby attractions.
The breakfasts are second to none and the evening meals are fantastic. They even provided a special themed birthday meal/party for my partner. Diane makes the most delicious jam I have ever tasted.
The rooms are tastfully decorated, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable and all this at such a reasonable price.
Rhyd Hir is an excellent place to relax, a great base to go out walking or an ideal focal point to go out & explore the nearby attractions.

Peaceful, comfortable, lovely clean room and shower room, friendly hosts and great breakfasts - what's not to like! We slept really well. Diane makes and sells wonderful jams and marmalades and David's local knowledge is second to none. A hidden gem, well worth visiting and re-visiting.

I was staying at Rhyd B&B on November. Autumn time was at it's best and surroundings were excellent. Good and enjoyable stay with friendly hosts couple David & Diana. I felt like home even though I was 1000's miles away from home. I warmly recommned this B&B for the people who enjou quiet time off in Wales.

I can highly recommend this B+B. We only had a two day stay but would gladly have stayed longer. The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed with brand new en suite bathrooms. Very friendly hosts, and lovely breakfasts. We didn't have any other meals.
There is plenty to do on the area and the local countryside is beautiful.

Do you have any downstairs bedrooms?

Hello and thank you for your enquiry. No, unfortunately we do not have any downstairs bedrooms, the farmhouse is based on a 17th century Welsh longhouse and there was (and is) no provision for bedrooms on the ground floor.
