Lovely friendly couple run this very clean and perfectly formed B&B - the views are stunning and surroundings just lovely. The breakfasts are yummy and served with a big smile and great conversations. Information about local activities are available along with a fab mini car tour designed to help you see it all. Couldn't of asked for a better location - fab long weekend for us.

This place and our hosts were superb - we regard them now as friends and hopefully we will return often.

The view across to Portmeirion and with Snowdon in the distance is fantastic. Next to the railway line and Talsanau Station, but train noise is nil and the passengers wave back as we sit on the porch. An ideal spot if you have no transport - trains to Pwllheli (via Porthmadog and the Ffestiniog Railway); south to Harlech, Barmouth and beyond to Machynlleth, Tywyn even Aberystwyth.

Bob the train and his Station Mistress make sure you want for nothing when you stay, tea and biscuits on arrival, fresh filter coffee and Soya Milk if required.

Choice of two rooms - both ensuite and within walking distance of the Ship Aground pub and restaurant - good food but slow service at the Ship decent beer though!

Clean, rooms and excellent breakfast with a lovely bed that makes for a good night's sleep. We enjoyed a nice long walk across the line and to the water's edge overlooking Portmeirion collecting slate souvenirs.

I highly recommend this place, an excellent B&B to leave the car and use feet and train to get about (or bus) to use as a base for seeing the whole of North Wales. Please disregard any bad reviews you may read - their rival in Talsarnau is part of the dirty tricks brigade and make up their own reviews in an attempt to dissuade visitors to the Estuary - some sad people about.

In all - ardderchog. We will definitely be back - time and time again. Thank you both (and the cat)

We stayed in this lovely B and B for 2 nights. We found the owners to be very friendly and welcoming. The location was just perfect for a relaxing break. We found that we had everything needed for the stay and the recommended visits to the local restaurant/pub were
much pleasing

Nice views but the accomodation was more like a garden shed than garden room as described, so when it rained, as it does in Wales, it made a real din!
A previous review said it was handy for the train but didn't mention that it was actually on the side of the track and everytime a train came it hooted, during the day not really a problem but the first one was about 6 in the norning and the last closer to 11 at night.
Bob and Ann are fine but Ann does talk at you a bit, sometimes my partner and me just want peace so you need to go for a wealk to get away from her.
The road comes out in the middle of the village on a bit of a hill and it's a really hard to see, if the traffic is busy its a nightmare to get out, specially if you're going towards Harlech, more than once we turned out the other way, turned round and joind the Harlech trafic.

All in all not what we expected so that is why I decided to do a review. All the others seem to say it's the best thing since sliced bread, but it has some drawbacks, more than the plusses.

Spend more and get a proper Hotel/B&B

The rooms are ok, ours was basic, they are quite clean, but not perfect. The noise from the train was to be expected, but not the noise that carried in from the house where the owners lived, it was awful, and when we mentioned it the next morning, it was dismissed with a 'it can't have been'.

We were lucky enough to spend a short two-day break at Estuary Cottage. The welcome and attention received was fantastic, as was the breakfast. We will return again for sure. Thank you Bob and Anne for a lovely stay.

My wife and I returned for a second stay at Estuary Cottage having been well satisfied before. Ann and Bob couldn't have been nicer, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast were excellent, the 'Chalet' was spotless, well presented and comfy. We stayed in the 'Garden Room' previously and that also was pleasing. The railway passes close but this presents no problem (only 2-car units) in fact to me it is a feature to be enjoyed. The local pub, The Ship Aground, serves excellent evening meals, a varied menu, large portions and at a very reasonable price.....no point in going anywhere else I doubt it could be bettered. There's plenty to go and see locally with bags of advice from the hosts. A great place to unwind and 'do your on thing' for few days. Well recommended. 5*'s

First class welcome from the moment we arrived. Anne took time to ensure we knew where everything was in the room. Anne and Bob were extremely knowledgeable about the surrounding area and there were also plenty of books and leaflets on hand to provide ideas of where to visit. The room was very clean and comfortable. The garden was a joy to sit out in. The views were stunning - in one direction you could see across to Portmeirion and from the other you could see Snowdon. We always looked forward to our breakfast and it certainly set us up for our day trips. There was ample parking at the property. A thoroughly enjoyable stay and certainly a place we will return to in the future.
