After managing a local pub and hearing one of my customers rave every week about the Carverys in the George i decided to book for my partners birthday.Booked for 7 adults for 1-30pm. It was extremely busy and all the staff were doing their best. We were told our table number 14......where is it,? I had to ask a staff...

We had lunch and dinner at this property. Nestling on the estuary with great views over the estuary and into the hills. The property is very attractive. Being next to a wooden toll bridge makes it fairly unique.

I booked a table for a carvery on mother's day. I've been previously and enjoyed the beautifully cooked food and friendly staff in this picturesque location. The hotel was incredibly busy with several sittings booked, we were given table 9 which is in the carvery room, the views are superb however we had the never ending queue for the carvery...

We have just returned from a 5 day stay, it should have been 3 but the weather was perfect and as ever the accommodation and food was excellent. We have stayed here on numerous occasions and always return home looking forward to our next visit. Even after many visits we found new places to explore, returning to the hotel to...

Booked this through Booking.com as the rating was very good. A 2 night business stay I arrived quite late but was still able to order food which was very good. The reception staff and bar staff were very helpful. Being rather pleased with my choice I went onto TripAdvisor and was astonished to find such poor reviews. After a 2...

Visited this place 1st April. Took ages to be served. Staff couldn't be bothered. Expensive compared to places in Dolgellau and Barmouth. I see other people have reported this. Shan't go again and recommend other people steer clear.

Not an opinion, just a report. Pint of bitter £4.10 (way too much for this area). I was kicked out of downstairs bar at 4 pm saturday, as it was closing;why? Upstairs bar was ok however, but I was left with the feeling that this place is more concerned with the convenience of the staff than that of the clients.

So dissappointed in this place..what is going on here? They have a stunning location, great old building, perfect setting so they can't be bothered to get welcoming staff or good food because they think people will return anyway because of the aforementioned..??. Wake up owners!!! Barman diabolical, surly, unwelcoming..fish and chips ok, rissotto was NOT a rissotto..salmon and pea rissotto...

We were sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your visit on Saturday. I can assure you all of our staff work incredibly hard and take great pride in their work so find this sort of review very hurtful. Whilst this may be no comfort to you, I can promise you our risotto is and will always be made...

We recently stayed in a wonderful holiday cottage across the road from the George, the cottage it's self was amazing and thank goodness we could cook and buy our own drink and enjoy our holiday! We were made to feel extremely un welcomed by the barman that looks like Elton John, he was rude and miserable and obviously in the...

Recent family birthday lunch.been going to the George for over 40 years. Food and service very good with the exception of the miserable gent behind the bar. He really needs to buck up.whether he's the owner or not.
