Night three of our trip. When we pulled into the driveway we thought how beautiful the premises and gardens were. Plenty of parking too. We received a nice welcome and also asked if we wanted to book a table fir a meal, which we did. On the way to the room I noticed a few cobwebs on the light fittings. On first glance at the room it looked light and airy and had some nice touches. On closer inspection there were a few areas that needed some tlc such as the bed frame and the carpet. Another observation is that there were not enough sockets or an extension socket, but they did provide a hairdryer. I found the bed very hard and therefore did not sleep very well. The bathroom was very small but they did provide nice drinking glasses. Unfortunately we were unable to take a shower as the shower door would not shut.
The bar/restaurant area was very busy and lively and we were kept entertained by the bar staff who were all very friendly. We felt the food was a bit overpriced, but it was tasty. Breakfast was average and again, instant coffee offered. “Problems with the supplier” was offered as an excuse, but surely the local supermarket sells it? At £89 a night and £10 for non residents I don’t think this is acceptable.
However a fairly reasonable stay apart from the bed

We stayed here Monday to Friday with our little dog. The room and shower room was compact but spotless and cosy. Full marks to the daily freshen up, perfect to return to after a day out exploring.
The bedding was quality, the furnishings and fittings were fresh and the breakfast ample, fresh and hot. They provided gf toast too
The bar area is busy and friendly used by both locals and guests as well as visitors from other places who had booked into the restaurant., again it was good quality food, very generous portion and tasty with gf options for my partner .
The gardens are large with lots of outdoor seating.
They are totally dog friendly, however dogs are not allowed in the restaurant to allow for those who are not pet owners. Dogs are allowed in the bar areas where food is also served
We had a lovely time and thorough recommend

Had a nice welcome, when I arrived. Got to my room, which was a small double, fine for me. Everything was fine, the bed was good and very comfy. There was a good tea tray. The shower room, whilst being small, was just right, with good quality toiletries and good soft towels. My only gripe with the room was the kettle, to use it, it had the be perched on the corner of the windowsill. I thought it was really dangerous.
I ate in the restaurant, the menu, although small, covered every taste. I have the chicken & mushroom pie, veg and new potatoes, it was really tasty, followed by a caramel apple pie.
Breakfast was good, plenty of fruit, yoghurts, cereals and good coffee.
The gardens were extensive and my dog loved running round.
The staff were friendly and I'd definitely go back

The bedroom was nothing like the photos. The room was smaller than my bathroom at home, the tele was smaller than an iPad, the plugs that had the tele and lamp plugged in you had to unplug to plug in the kettle, then unplug again to plug in my straighteners, then plug again the lamp was a nightmare. When running a bath the water didn’t fill above your ankle the water just falls down the drain even though it’s “supposed to be closed” no holder for the shower so had to sit in an empty bath holding a shower head over our heads, the final morning we woke up early to get on the road before traffic, 6:15am no hot water, no heating for the entire stay. Had to leave with no shower even when we rang to ask for hot water (which we shouldn’t have to ask for hot water) it still didn’t come so had to leave the shower. Walls all cracked and dusty and dirty, mould on the stand that the tv was on, lamps battered, 1 light on the wall didn’t even work, ceilings so low had to duck every time we were in the room, no signs saying mind your head, my partner hit his head that many times it was beyond a joke. Door didn’t feel like it was safely shut, while room was bodged. When leaving at 6:30/7 we were greeted to a lovely lady whom we told her we had an awful stay the food was delicious and I am paying them £78 less as the hotel personally shouldn’t have even got £100 off me but I paid that anyway. No way was I paying the full £178 for the worst stay of my life. When visiting the local amenities we put the hotel in the map which took us to the middle of nowhere an hour away; this happened TWICE!! Clearly no one is in charge or marketing the business as having their location on the map where it should be would be the first thing to do. The desk was falling from the wall. The mirror was being held by 2 stupid screws on show. Whole room was tatty and tiny for a double room. Massive dead spider on the floor also. Location and beach was nice.

On a plus - the bar evening meals were delicious the best we have ever tasted, also the breakfast was lovely as well.

I’ve waited three weeks for a response to my email complaining about the awful meal we had at this place. As no response has been forthcoming, now is the time to state that this was one of the worst meals we’ve had for a very long time. Fish pie that had three pieces of fish and two prawns in it, and was basically mashed potato. Medley of vegetables turned out to be a spoonful of peas. Curry that was both expensive and awful all in the same go - £14 for having half a portion of chips and rice added £2 to the price of what tasted like something poured out of a bucket of gloop.

From the publicity, and the lovely look of the place we’d expected more, and came away feeling we’d been robbed.

We booked a table for 2 adults 1 dog when we arrived no table was available however we were OK to sit outside and a table was wiped down for us and it suited us nicely.
We had 2 main meals which were perfect , enjoyable and well presented followed by two deserts waffles and icecream which were fabulous.
All the staff we came across were pleasant and the meal was definitely a 5*
We will be returning without a doubt.

My dog and I had a lovely welcome, we had our usual room 6. It's a single room, with a 3/4 comfy bed in it. The room isn't large, but big enough for me and my dog. The shower room is small, but adequate. The bath towels could do with being replaced by bath sheets(personal choice) they were nice quality toiletries too. The hospitality traywas good, with a packet of biscuits. There was a large fan available, which was appreciated. My dog is allowed everywhere but the dining room. We sat outside on the veranda, overlooking the extensive gardens. She was made to feel very welcome. Breakfast was nice. We've booked to go back next year.

Myself and 3 friends stayed at Ty Mawr, we were meeting an ex colleague whom we had not seen for several years. What a fantastic welcome we had on our arrival, nothing was too much trouble. After settling in our spotlessly clean rooms we went into the bar where the atmosphere was second to none, we met some lovely locals and the barman was so friendly and again nothing was to much trouble. We had food in the evening which was gorgeous and brilliant value for money. The breakfast the following morning was perfect with many choices and again the staff were friendly and went the the extra mile for us. Can't wait to stay again.

From start to finish our stay was faultless. Jane and all the staff were so welcoming, friendly and accommodating. They didn’t bat an eyelid at all alterations to food orders (8 children so a lot of fussy eaters!!)

We were there for World Cup and rugby internationals and the bar was amazing, great atmosphere and friendly locals, wouldn’t have been anywhere else! The local beach walks and waterfalls are beautiful to blow away the cobwebs the morning after!!

Thankyou so much everyone at Ty Mawr for making our family holiday so unforgettable

We booked this visit at the last minute as we were in the area and it was one of the only places locally that would let us stay with our dogs. We weren’t disappointed. It’s a lovely place with a lovely setting. The hosts were brilliant and we will definitely go back here next time we’re in the area.
How it’s only AA 2 Stars I have no idea.
