I have been going Shell Island for past 30 years and have seen all the changes going on. You can now book on line....there are now actually nice tiolets and shower facilities, and there are even porta loo's out in the camping area. The sand dunes area is where I always go to pitch....love the stunning views and is simply...

First off this is a very good place to come camping... NO DISPUTING THAT... their own beer, Schnell is amazing... customer service is second to none. The views are amazing... the only 2 problems I have with the campsite is there are not enough toilets dotted around the place, but the ones they have are clean and tidy... showers too......

What can I say it's always a great trip to shell island. Though there were some noisy campers close but playing music to the early hours would of been nice if they'd stopped a little earlier. Can't be helped I guess, with the freedom that shell offers wouldn't want to change it.

A stunning location with wide open sandy beaches, mixed with sand dunes and large boulders on the beach. Great views across the bay and convenient base for Porthmadog and Barmouth day trips. Camp site had good facilities, the varied fields, meant that it was possible to find a spot that felt like you were on a much smaller and intimate...

Pros: Great location, supermarket, camping shop, games rooms, beach, pub, new shower block, friendly reception. Cons: Finding a pitch on a busy day is very stressful. The noise rules seem not to be enforced. The loos around the site are inadequate and, at night, can be hard to find. My wife got lost in the dark and took an hour...

We had a great stay in August 2016, it had everything we could wish for. However, the toilets would put me off going back again. There are not enough facilities to accommodate the amount of people there in high season and they were not cleaned often enough to provide a clean and hygienic environment. Had the toilets been better, I...

Well my trip started with the bad news that my dad was being rushed to hospital in an ambulance, as there was 6 of us going we decided to go ahead set up the camp and see what happened. Unfortunately, we left before even sleeping one night there and we had to leave the tent up as it was so...

Absolutely massive camp site but did not feel overcrowded. Gorgeous views of the coast and Harlech Castle. You have the choice of pitch which on first arrival is a little daunting, spend some time driving around first before you jump at the first one. The centre of the island has a supermarket, gift shop, camping shop and bar/resteraunt, we only...

Shell island is great for what it is. A easy going beautiful place camp where you like, spread out loads of space, camp fires allowed. New toilet and showers excellent. Fishing trips that run from the harbour very good. Two new rules for this season. 15 yards apart instead of 20. No apparent difference and no noise after 10. This...

Stayed here for three night with my family and friends. Lovely and clean, kids had a fab time and would definitely come again. Wish we had better weather as was raining for most of the time but still enjoyed it! Beach was lovely and clean. Shower blocks and toilets also clean. Takeaway pizza was good!
