I have been here numerous times camping beside the bubbling brook and cooking on my open fire whilst being able to use the good facilities within the hostel itself> A warm welcome always greeted us and what a fab spot to embark on the Cader walk through meadows and woodland filled with foxgloves and daffodils depending on the time of...

lovely location, friendly host who made us feel very welcome.will definatly stay again when we are in the area. the family room we had was ideal, private and with en-suite, the heating which made it feel nice and comfortable. we had a 'light breakfast' which was a very good price, and was more than enough; and we kept getting offered more! will...

Great location for Cader Idris and Mawddach Trail, but hostel and grounds looked a bit dreary and down-at-heel to my eye, and hopefully will get a good spruce-up soon. My room (No 7) in the annexe smelled very badly of damp making it unpleasant to sleep in, but shower was hot and beds comfortable. Kitchen very clean and well equipped....

Dave Dimmer and Mick were very hospitable. Nothing was too much trouble. Dave was a wonderful host and Mick was lovely, helpful, and cheerful. They both make what Kings is - great fantastic and welcoming. I recommend whole heartily to visit. Thank you Dave and Mick and it was nice speaking to Claire too.

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Good facilities - for a YH. Good breakfast. Adequate and filling dinner. Rooms basic but clean and fine for our purposes. Good lock up shed for our bikes. Picturesque setting up a quiet valley near a rushing stream.

After a hard freezing day riding the 'Beast' at Coed y Brenin (10mins away) we were greeted by the attentive Dave who take care of our needs! He even offer us buckets of warm water to wash down our bikes which we politely declined! There was no need to purchase alcohol from a local convenience store as the Hostel is...

Remote, but well located for Cadair Idris, this is one of the better maintained and equipped hostels. The critical difference is Dave, the competent and friendly manager of the facility. Some 20 of us arrived for a weekend stay and he was very attentive to ensure we were all settled in and enjoying our stay. Remembered everyone's names and was...

Each Easter our family has a youth hostel trip, normally staying 4 nights and this year we booked at the Kings Youth Hostel, Dolgellau, for the first time. We knew it was remote and it certainly was! Great for us! Didn't know what to expect of the hostel except there were many favourable comments about the warden. I could now...

We stayed at Kings for one night as our family base to climb Cadair Idris and visit the nearby Welsh coast. We had a warm greeting and nothing was too much trouble. The family room was large with an en-suite and met our overnight needs well. Food was great, we had fish and chips in the evening and a cooked...

I stayed here recently with a friend on a mountain biking weekend, we chanced upon this place and it's a great place to stay. The cooking facilities are plentiful, but I highly recommend trying Dave's Fish n Chips! Dave is a great guy and awesome company, he made us feel like we were at home! Laid back, peaceful atmosphere. Especially...
