Fantastic location, great service and facilities.
We stayed for five nights during early August 2020, just as the country was coming out of lockdown.
Our host Julie and her team were utterly professional and diligent - not just in the necessary post lockdown activities but also in the routine aspects of running a healthy guesthouse.
Our rooms (we had a double and a twin for our two children) were perfectly furnished with everything needed and great wifi.
Cleanliness was perfect, breakfast was excellent.
Criccieth itself was lovely, and the castle and coastal views - well, one can never tire of looking at them.
All in all a brilliant stay and we will certainly return.

Response from Julie Key, Owner at Glyn-y-Coed Hotel
Responded 30 Aug 2020
We are really grateful for your comments at this time as we are all trying hard to change our routine that we have had for the last 20 years. I am really pleased that you felt comfortable here and that you enjoyed our beautiful area. Hope to see you all again, if you come back this way. Best wishes to you all. Julie.

We've just returned from a two night break at the Glyn-y-Coed Bed and Breakfast at Criccieth and wanted to share our experience with everyone. What a little gem of a place. The host Julie greeted us with a warm welcome and then offered us a pot of coffee while we got over our long drive.

The room was bright, warm with a stunning coastal view and direct view of the castle, it was breathing taking.

Breakfast: High quality butchers best sausages, bacon and organic eggs. This followed our starter of fresh fruit, yogurt, granola and freshly squeezed orange juice.

Bed: Superb mattress, with high cotton thread duvet covers and sheets. Beautifully comfortable pillows to accompany a light but warm duvet.

The location: A stroll away from the waters front and a short stroll to Dylan's restaurant which was also up there with the best service and food.

We loved it and will be returning soon.

My friend and I stayed 3 nights at this impressive B&B.Julie the owner couldn’t have been more welcoming. She offered to help with our luggage and then made us a pot of tea which we enjoyed in the lovely lounge overlooking the sea and castle.
She gave us a big map of the area and marked out a circular tour with places of interest for us to visit from beautiful beaches to areas of outstanding beauty. She also showed us an album containing photos she had taken of these places so you could see exactly what they were like.
The house is furnished to a high standard and is immaculately clean. All the rooms we were shown were lovely. We stayed in room 7 which overlooked the sea and castle, it was really spacious with 2 chairs and a small table in the window.
The breakfast was fantastic with locally sourced produce. We were served every morning by Danielle who was friendly and efficient. We can’t recommend Glyn y Coed highly enough and will definitely return in the future.

Recently stayed as wanted a break before any further lockdowns.
Choose Criccieth as not visited this part of Wales for a long time.
B&B is extremely easy to find, with sea views & parking.
Temperature checked on arrival, ample hand sanitizer in use & details taken for “track & trace”.
We were in room 7 at the top of the house with lovely views & lots of space.
Perhaps the bathroom was slightly dated but very clean with nice toiletries.
Breakfast is not available for all guests but as we had booked direct & in ample time we were able to have breakfast which was of a very high quality.
Area is stunning which was helped by the gorgeous weather we had.
Would definitely recommend.

I cannot praise Glyn-y-Coed enough. My sister and I have stayed here each year for the last few years. It is superbly run, beautifully presented and nothing is too much for the owner. She has thought of everything and more that a guest could ask for. The breakfast is always delicious, there is an open bar with an honesty box and a pot of tea or coffee always available, despite there being facilities in the rooms. The hotel and rooms are spotless and the staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful in every way.
Thank you Julie for another comfortable and enjoyable stay. Here's to the next time!

Just back from spending 6 nights at Glyn y Coed. Julie, the owner kindly gave us a free upgrade and couldn't have been more attentive to our needs. Room was extremely comfortable and beautifully furnished. There is a delightful lounge where we were served complimentary afternoon tea on several occasions. Location is very convenient for the beach, Portmeirion, Snowdownia and heritage railways. Will definitely return.

This is our second visit to Glyn-y-Coed. Having visited a couple of years previously we were looking forward to going back again and weren't disappointed. Julie was welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room was large, comfortable and spotlessly clean and the breakfast was delicious. Julie handled the Covid adjustments delicately and with tact so it never felt intrusive but we always felt perfectly safe. When we arrived Julie mentioned that dolphins had been seen in the bay, so we kept a look out for them and on our final evening we spotted a pod out in the bay which we watched from our room.

This is a beautifully presented B&B accommodation which is tastefully decorated throughout. My room had sea views as well as a brilliant view of the castle. Julie was an exceptional host and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was plentiful and excellent value for money. I would highly recommend this guest house to anyone wanting visit the beautiful town of Criccieth and surrounding areas.

I booked with this hotel for next April with booking.com.
I then received a curt response from someone to say hotel is being taken over and the new owners wont be taking bookings. There is NOTHING to suggest this when you try and book so something appears very dodgy!
Just dont book!!

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a weekend away. We've been visiting the area for years and decided to try a b&b in Criccieth this time, and we were not disappointed. Julie was extremely welcoming and friendly, the room was comfortable and clean and then breakfast was superb. However the best thing was the view from the room - our room overlooked the castle and beach and was just perfect. We will definitely return and recommend!

I am really sorry, Simon, that we do not take dogs. Try Abereistedd Hotel in Criccieth. Thank you very much for considering us though - and have a great time in Criccieth - it really is a beautiful small coastal town. Julie

Why is it that every review on trip advisor, apart from mine ,gets a "thank you", most disappointed
Answer from Basilfaulty43
Criccieth, United Kingdom56 contributions61 helpful votes
I am very sorry Jon. I really am most grateful to anyone who takes the time and effort to comment on their stay with us. Nowadays, however, we get comments on Trip Advisor, Late Rooms, Expedia and about 20 agencies. I do not see the reviews unless I try and look for them and then I have to have a password to go into the site to reply. This is why I have only spotted your comment now. It has now become a full time job! I hope you understand Jon, and I really do appreciate your time (and I hope we haven't put you off). Kind Regards Julie
