I booked Seabank over the phone and explained that I had a 2 and 4 year old, who I was assured would be most welcome. Unfortunately the lady owner (who was very pleasant) clearly had no experience of small children and after showing us to our room said that in actual fact she was not happy for us to stay with her.
To be fair the kids were on the edge as it was teatime and they had been on the beach all afternoon- but when my 2 year old was screaming because she wanted to bounce on the bed, the lady looked genuinely horrified and asked "is she always like this?"! . Well no, not always- but as she is 2 let's face it, she does have her moments. My 4 year old after sneaking past us also for a quick jump on the bed (HIS bed he thought- there's some child logic there, although I know it was annoying for the nice owner) then tried out the light switches which added to the case for our eviction, and the owner said she didn't feel comfortable about us staying. Fair enough I suppose as it's her place but it did rather shock me! She was very apologetic and even had a change of heart just as we were going out of the door and said we could stay afterall but I felt so disappointed and upset to be asked to leave (they are not horrible children, I promise we are decent!! ) that I didn't feel comfortable staying.
Anyway the room , for the briefest period that I stood in it, was immaculate and I must say that this B&B is probably one of the 'higher class' in Criccieth. The beds are bouncy :) ! The one 'poor' review on here is almost definitely about the wrong place. However, if you have kids under 5, unless they are amazingly behaved-lucky you- in order to save yourself the stress and disruption of having to find alternative accommodation at the eleventh hour, I'd look elsewhere. We ended up staying in a lovely place at the top of the hill( can't remember the name now sorry) which was less posh but very friendly and I felt much more at ease.
So in summary, I think Seabank is a lovely but should probably just say that children aren't welcome, thus avoiding others being put in awkward and stressful situations.
Sorry for long review, it's probably clear that I was a bit upset about the experience.. it's been therapeutic writing it !!

We stayed at the Seabank for 2 nights in August, and I would recommend this hotel. The owners of this hotel are very nice and helpful, and it was a pleasure to stay with them.

We decided to stay in their spa room with sea views (55 pounds per night), and the room was fantastic, it was well worth it. The room looked lovely, and had 2 armchairs at a bay window with great views. The bathroom is very large, and the spa bath good, although a little small for 2 people. There is no shower, but a detachable shower head was provided. The only issue with this room is that the curtains are very thin, so it gets light very early in the morning.

A friend stayed in a regular double ensuite room (about 45 pounds), which was also a very nice room. There are also tables and chairs outside, which are great in the evening to sit and watch the sunset over the sea.

The hotel is walking distance to everything (although there is not much to do in Criccieth except visit the castle and the beach). There is one fish and chip shop in town which has long lines and the food is horrible. The renowned ice cream shop in town is worth a visit.

We spend two nights in this nice place ran by a lovely couple. Amazing view to castle and coast, first line two the beach. Rooms and facilities were over cleaned with tasty decoration. They offer a well prepared and abundant english breakfast with additional fruit, yogurt, cereal, etc. 100% recommendable.

Staying two nights 23/24 May 2015, No. 6 bedroom, what a beautiful view, you can't shut curtains, even when in bed watching TV you look left and look out to sea, must be one of the best bedroom views in Criccieth. Lovely full breakfast in dining room overlooking bay. Sylvia and Dave great hosts. We took advice from Dave on which steam railway trip to take. We took the Welsh line inky to Beddgelert, what a gorgeous village, we walked to the copper mine. Thanks Dave for telling us about this village. Do not hesitate in booking Seabanks

We've just returned from a lovely break at SeaBanks. We originally only booked for 2 nights, but when we saw our room, in addition to a good weather forecast, we extended our stay to an extra night.
We were in the top floor Sea View room (The Blue Room). The view from which was as good as we've had anywhere in the World. From Harlech Castle and the coastline down to Barmouth, across the turquoise waters of the bay, right the way over to Abersoch.
There is a small sofa situated in front of an aptly named Bay window. Even though there is a tv in the room, you really don't need it with a view like this.
The adjacent bedroom is just about wide enough for a bed, but also has a great view. From there early one morning, we were delighted to see a dolphin in the bay. Really close in too. Really quite magical!
David and Sylvia were lovely hosts, and there is plenty of choice for breakfast, although you must try the cooked breakfast.
I would recommend anyone to stay here, and would hope to stay here again some time.

We have stayed here 3 times over the years, and have always enjoyed our stay.
The rooms are delightful, and very well maintained, with excellent bathrooms and lovely sea views
The breakfasts were excellent, and Janet and David have always been very helpful and friendly.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

This Guest House is the best Guest House we have ever stopped in. We go there every year, my parents go there every year.

The owners are great fun, really accomodating, very helpful, genuine and extremely hardworking and the rooms are beautifully furnished.

The other review saying it was shabby definately didn't stay in the Seaview.

We stayed at the Seabank for 2 nights in Sept 2004 after booking through the internet. The Hotel was a big rambling, run down mess, not like the pictures on the internet. Our room was okay but the furniture, carpets and bathroom were very old and shabby. We had to ask for our room to be vacummed as housekeeping forgot. The bars and
restaurant were not very inviting as the dirty lunch plates were still on the tables at dinner time. Ashtrays were not emptied from previous night. Staff were miserable, although this might be due to grey skies and rain but living in Wales they should be used to that. Would not recommend this Hotel as the whole atmosphere was unfriendly.

I think these two travellers have the Seabank at Criccieth confused with some other establishment as the 'bars' and 'restaurant' are certainly not here as the Seabank is a bed and breakfast guest house only. We have been totally non smoking for several years - you would be hard put to find a single ashtry other than at the back of a cupboard! As for the bed rooms and bath rooms - all our bed rooms are ensuite which are all modern and up to date and very clean. Dave and myself run the place ourselves so we undertake all the cleaning (in fact everything!) and have had some very satisfied customers.

Silvia and David are perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble. Silvia makes a great fresh fruit salad for breakfast. The hotel is light and airy and very comfortable and is right opposite the sea. There are some lovely local restaurants to try. If you visit the chip shop be prepared for a wait !! but it's worth it especially if you are able to sit on the beach to eat them. We had a really lovely weekend made extra special by perfect friendly hosts - Thank You
