We recently spent a very peaceful weekend at the West. We found it by accident and it was amazing. Very friendly staff, welcoming and helpful. Our room was very clean and tidy but could do with a bit of a re fit. The food is amazing , we had two excellent evening meals. Getting to the West is part of...

We booked an early evening meal here a few weeks ago and were delighted with the vegetarian choices offered. We thoroughly enjoyed our excellent three course meal and would highly recommend visiting the West Arms in this beautiful corner of the Ceiriog Valley. A special mention also to Lucinda who served us with a smile.

Visited end of August and such a lovely surprise. Gorgeous village and very olde worldy feel. Excellent meal & very tasty.....freshly made. Very hospitable hosts and lovely grounds. Despite being reasonably local I would stay here. I heartily recommend!

What a fantastic hotel. Absolutey breath taking views. A very warm welcome on arrival from Ed and Billy and the room was great, if a little tired. Such a brilliant menu with so much choice. After such fantastic food from Andy the chef, an hour in the quaint bar and I was ready for a sleep. Very comfortable bed. Great...

Want to visit somewhere that has the peace and quiet of the countryside with food that is so good it would rival any city based quality restaurant? Then stay at this hotel. Staff were exceptionally welcoming, the owner is really nice and the service was top notch. The food on offer, though, was the big selling point and the chef...

We booked The West Arms for our wedding location over a year in advance. Communication leading up to the event was great and happy with the plans. On the day, Phil, Grant and the rest of the staff / team excelled and they made our special day magical. Special mention to Ed for sorting out music to walk down the...

I was at the West Arms with my partner recently, our rooms were changed from downstairs, to upstairs, my room was tired, needed decorating, some of the staff were execellent, whilst one of the managers was rather off hand and gossipy behind our backs, which was unprofessional. The food was varied, some strange flavours put together, breakfast was small, but...

The welcome, cuisine, ambience and location of the West Arms Hotel - which recently retained its 4 star status - speak for themselves. However, I am concerned by the accusation that a staff member was gossiping! This would be wholly out of character for any one of our team of professional and pleasant staff, who are regularly praised as regularly...

Yes, the hotel does need some refurbishment but there are still some outstanding features about the West Arms. The location is perfect for exploring the nearby attractions by car, the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Chirk Castle to name but two. The area is crisscrossed with excellent walks and the valley is so peaceful. The food at the hotel is outstanding whether...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The West Arms is a traditional Olde Inn (16th Century) with beams and uneven slate flagged floors, roaring open fires and low ceilings. It offers an abundance of warmth and charm with quirky individuality. No bedrooms are the same. We are a privately owned business with a wealth of experience, offer a friendly informal welcome. We have 15 bedrooms, a superb Chef who has a great pedigree, lovely friendly staff and are situated in a beautiful location. If you want a bland boutique modern hotel with a lack of soul, The West Arms is not the place for you! ... more   less
