The excuse from the front desk staff was an ice/snow storm from three weeks ago. The front desk staff supposedly has a piece of paper that states the cold water problem that was NEVER shown to me at check in. Today’s high is 38 degrees and we are expected to shower with cold water. UNACCEPTABLE
I was reading reviews for the Westin after I had booked my stay for July. I was very worried with what I was reading. I can honestly say that my stay has been perfect. Staff has been more than friendly, restaurant super ice has been great, and my room is just fine. Yes the hotel is 15 years old, but the building has been well maintained. The elevator is getting an overhaul while here so fingers crossed that will no longer be a sore spot for folks. Simply stated, the hotel is great and the location simply cannot be beaten in Memphis. This from a guy who travels every week for work! Kudos to Westin mgmt for turning things around.
Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the friendly and professional front desk staff. Hotel was very busy as guest were checking in and many checking out (most of us here to attend the concert of Mary J Blige), so some rooms weren't readily available. Ms.Cynthia along with her manager ( Kim?) was very accommodating to check us in early and was eager to assist with my request of a room facing the FedEx Forum and a refrigerator. Our corner room was awesome with an AMAZING view (rm 801) of the Forum and Beale st. Our room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Upon checkout again Ms.Cynthia wanted to make sure my needs were met during my stay.Thank you and kuddos to the Westin Beale you have a gem with her...I will definitely stay again Kathleen
Some of the front desk staff is fabulous--the other half, terrible. BUT, who cares? Not much interaction, usually. The problems we faced were (really) funky blankets. They wrap some comforters inside two sheets, so they don't have to wash the blankets constantly, which, I suppose, in the hotel business could get rather expensive. But, inevitably, the sheets fall away, and our blankets were gray, stained, ratty, even threadbare; and, they smelled. The carpets are tired, and dirty, I'm sorry to say. The pillows inside the cases, are thin, and also not "fresh", to say the least. The hotel bar seems to be always closed, and the restaurant is terrible. Location is pretty good--just a block or two off of Beale Street. The hotel parking is easy--valet attentive--but not cheap. About $40.00 a night (New York prices in Tennessee, apparently). …
One lovely lady and one lovely gentleman at the front desk who said we can definitely have one of the Gibson guitars in the lobby brought to our room but then the lazy night staff said “oh no we don’t do that no more. We still under Covid”. Yeah right. Under Covid?? They are doing room service, housekeeping, valet parking, no masks, etc., but somehow the big bad Covid can be spread through the neck of a Gibson guitar. They just didn’t want to be bothered, and that is just downright nasty. Will write more AFTER we leave so that no one spits in our coffee!
No one would ever believe this is a Westin property. It is the worst kept property and the staff are not customer service oriented. They have a big sign stating we care about our place and we keep it clean. However, the rooms are not cleaned. Sometimes it takes forever to get hot water other times you can’t ever shut off the hot water. Some days the hot water is scorching hot.
We had a good stay over St. Jude marathon weekend. Very nice clean room. Checkin was friendly but little recognition of Bonvoy status. Their new restaurant- Penny’s Nitty Gritty is not very good in my opinion. I would stick with the lobby bar, where wonderful music was played Friday night. Very convenient for the races, Beale, Orpheum and the FedEx forum.
Positives—- close to the fun on Beale St and FedEx Forum; fitness room is clean and has great equipment; Penny’s has delicious food; convenient valet parking = = =all make this place a good find. Negatives— housekeeping did not tend to our room even after we made the request in person. We came back after a busy/tiring day to no clean towels, full trash cans, and unmade beds. The only Front desk we’ve visited (as members) that does not have change and directs you to the valet stand.
Nothing but great things to say about our stay. The best part, without a doubt, has been the staff. Teresa was our waitress in the restaurant and she was so delightful. The room was clean and the bathroom was huge with a rain shower. The hotel is literally located across the street from the FedEx Forum. We have found our favorite place in Memphis!
DO NOT STAY HERE!!!I just had the worst experience at Westin Memphis Beale Street. I stayed November 11-14. HOUSEKEEPING They refused to clean my room when requested, did not have soap in the room, they only emptied the trash, did not change the sheets when requested, and never cleaned the bathroom or vacuumed the entire stay. I saw a cleaning woman by my room and specially asked her to clean my room and she said yes. That was at 10 am I returned at 8 pm not cleaned. I went to desk and they manager said they would clean in the morning. Not acceptable when they had three requests from me to clean the room. The housekeeping supervisor told me they don’t clean rooms after 6:30 but I saw cleaning staff working on rooms at 8 pm! Lies. BAR I went to bar too get dinner with my sister. After 40 minutes I finally got my meal and it took my sister another 20 minutes. No silverware was given and eventually my sister had to leave her seat, go to the restaurant and ask for silverware. When she untied it, there was a spoon and a knife but no fork! They told my sister who ordered a turkey club someone just order the last turkey and they were out of turkey. She requested wheat bread, which they did not have, so she requested it on sourdough which was offered. What she got was white bread after she specifically asked When we got our bill, was charged twice for dinner, the server took my sisters money $40 for a $26 bill as a tip and did not give her all her change. Was lied to by front desk and housecleaning supervisor about cleaning. This severely impacted my stay and I would like to speak with someone regarding the extremely poor and disgusting hotel in Memphis. Since when is cleaning a hotel room when requested an option? If you want to stay in a dirty hotel room, get cheated by bar and restaurant, and be lied to by the manager, the bar staff, the housekeeping staff stay here. If you like clean rooms, and friendly trustworthy staff, stay somewhere else.…
