Me and the wife booked a cottage here earlier in the year with no hassle at all, just gave Carol a tinkle direct from there website and asked what cottage would be recommended to suit our needs we booked the bothy cottage then put it to the back of our minds until we left for our long weekend...on arrival we...

This is an excellent location for Dark Sky watching as well as touring the Wigtown and Galloway area. Located on the outskirts of Newton Stewart this family run business is just heavenly. It is far enough away from the town to be peaceful yet within easy walking distance (1 mile) of facilities. The cottage was beautiful and clean. The owner...

We stayed in the Hen Hoose at the start of September and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms were clean and the owner friendly. There are lots of walks nearby and Glen Trool is a must The Merrick is a good walk if you are fit. We also liked Beltie Books in Wigtown. The owner is friendly and has a nice...

Comfortable accommodation in a beautiful setting. Everything we needed for a lovely week near Newton Stewart. The steading is located only a mile from the town and you can walk to the centre in about 30 minutes. The scenery is lovely and peaceful and you can access many walks from the location. The owner was very friendly and helpful and...

We stayed in The Hen Hoose with our dog (a Rhodesian Ridgeback). The Hen Hoose was perfect for our needs, comfortable, well equipped with oven, washer/drier, microwave and was roomy enough when our son, his partner and their dog came for a short four day stay with us. There is ample room in the field out the back to exercise...

This was our first visit to Nether Barr. We went for half term week, 4 adults and 2 children and stayed in the Byre. The accommodation is spacious and worked really well with a nice living space, a split of bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs and downstairs. We enjoyed sitting outside in the courtyard space or walking round to visit the...

Very comfortable accommodation in a peaceful location. The accommodation is based in a courtyard setting which turned out to be a real sun trap the week we were there. I was quite happy to spend a couple of days taking in the sun before we got in the car to explore the area. Cycle/walking path brings you on a one...

A large, inexpensive, comfortable place to stay just outside Newton Stewart. Convenient by car to the nearby national forest for hiking. Large comfortable beds, beautiful views, a full kitchen, wi-fi. Find your own breakfast, but this is much preferable to a small room above a pub.

Our 7th year back, Nether Barr Steading really is a home from home. We have stayed in 3 of the accommodations so far and each one is equipped with pretty much everything you need including comfy beds to flop into at the end of a busy day. There are great views to be had from each of the properties. Very...

A last minute booking can often prove disappointing because you've not been able to find your ideal location - not so in this case. The design of the strafing means that although you have neighbours you all have uninterrupted views, and it is surprisingly quiet and peaceful. The views over the Cree estuary are fab. A spacious and clean cottage,...
