Just had a weekend in the Blue Peter Hotel, we came to Kirkcolm to scatter my step father's ashes in the Glen. Everyone at the Blue Peter looked after us brilliantly, nothing was to much trouble, they were all very caring and supportive. The Blue Peter Hotel is situated in a lovely little village and I will be back again...

It's not all change in the Blue Peter, still has good real ale, still does good pub grub that is cheap as chips. Ian and Ruth are gone but the new owners are working hard to make a good pub better. We enjoyed chicken and chips and vegetarian lasagne, both were excellent, huge portions and value for money. The three...

The hotel changed hands at the right time as it was going down hill and even local residents had stopped attending. New owners have brought ideas, but in a group of 12 of us, all locals, returning to the pub for a meal and some drinks, all booked well in advance, the overall opinion was poor. Some people had eaten...

We arrived on Fri 22nd March in the midst of a blizzard. The hospitality that we received was outstanding. The owners accommodated any requests we made. Due to the adverse weather conditions we were unable to leave the hotel til late in the afternoon. The hotel provided us with a fantastic breakfast (and lunch at no extra cost) all served...

I visited The Blue Peter Hotel a couple of times over the last weekend, 5/6th April 2013. There was a mini beer festival taking place with three real ales on tap all in good condition and at a reasonable price. On the Saturday visit I, along with my partner and two friends, enjoyed food as well as the beers. Between...

Just been to the Blue Peter for another excellent meal. I had the roast beef Sunday lunch which came in a very generous portion , was delicious and unlike an earlier reviewer has said, nice and warm, as the food has always been in my experience since the present owners took over. On the subject of warmth, I have to...

Having read the post below from Jadec01, I feel I have to give my personal views on the Blue Peter Hotel. Alan and Jackie took over in November last year and have transformed the hotel into a place where local's and visitors alike are made to feel welcome again. Although only having been resident for the past four and a...

I stayed here overnight with my 2 children after a long but very enjoyable day trip to Belfast. Although we arrived pretty late at night we were all made to feel very welcome, with the kids even being offered juice and myself having an ice cold cider delivered to our family room. The accommodation itself was fairly basic but very...

We have always enjoyed the great food and lovely atmosphere at The Blue Peter in recent years whilst enjoying previous breaks at nearby Portpatrick so when we fancied a weekend break we thought, lets give the BP a whirl. We met the very recent new owners, Alan & Jackie - they are a lovely, genuine and down to earth couple...
