Myself and my partner visited here in August 2013. What attracted us to the hotel was the fact your only minutes away from port patrick, secure car park and not forgetting that famous homemade short bread! We were not disappointed when we arrived lovely warm welcome from Maggie/Fred which made us both feel at home. We enjoyed our stay here...

Stayed here recently and felt most welcome by our hosts. The breakfast was delicious and nothing was too much trouble for Fred and Maggie, who made sure us and our two young children had everything we could possibly need for a very comfortable stay. Our room was beautifully decorated and very warm and cosy. The tea tray was well stocked...

My husband and I paid a return trip to Rickwood at the end of November. We had enjoyed it so much the last time and we were certainly not disappointed. As before the hotel was very comfortable, warm and scrupulously clean. We received a warm welcome from the owners, Fred and Maggie, and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed...

Just been on the phone to the Rickwood to arrange our first stay of 2014. We make a point of having at least three long weekends there a year and we have been doing this ever since we found this gem on the Irish sea over 15 years ago ,it has become a tradition for us. It never lets us...

My partner and I arrived at Rickwood House on a cold, wet and windy October Friday evening looking forward to a delicious, home cooked, warming meal as promised on the Rickwood website. We were disappointed! The proprietor, Maggie, was welcoming enough but when we asked about the evening meal we were informed without explanation or apology that “evening meals would...

Hotel was lovely and staff were very helpful. We decided to go for a cycle and without any prompting the owner gave us his area map for the afternoon. Although I think the hotel is nice, it is more like a B&B, however I think the price reflects this.

We have just been to the Rickwood for the 10th year on the trot and still love it as much as when we first visited for our Honeymoon in 2003. Fred and Maggie are wonderful hosts, the Hotel is small, friendly and very clean. The food is very good and there is a varied breakfast menu which has an optional...

Hosts friendly with good local knowledge - useful as we intended to do some coastal walking in the area. Fred was kind enough to dry our clothing following one ill-advised encounter with the Galloway weather! Hotel clean and comfortable, breakfast cooked perfectly. Portpatrick is delightful and boasts some terrific restaurants and bars.

Maggie and Fred are the friendliest hosts we have encountered on our tour of the UK. We stayed in B & B everynight. Rickwood House was easily the best. The setting in Portpatrick is perfect for a weekend away. When we were talking them about available dates they told us we needed at least 2 nights. They were right. We...

The most welcoming introduction I have ever had, and we have stayed at many hotels & b&b's. You get the immediate impression nothing too much trouble. I would have no hesitation in recommending to friends & family. We only had the luxury if staying one night, but I could easily stay longer! We escaped the city for a break for...
