Really impressive hostel. I would have slept anywhere that night as it was the first day of the west Highland way and we'd been walking for 12 hours! We booked this hostel because it was nice and cheap but actually I was very impressed with the value for money! Clean, comfortable rooms, plenty of clean, warm showers and good kitchen... More

A modern, cozy hostel with lovely staff. Breakfast can be booked for a charge and there is also a self catering kitchen. What I liked most about this hostel was it's location: It's right on the shores of Loch Lomond with a breathtaking view. Would definitely stay again.

A clean, modern hostel in a beautiful location. The building is gorgeous and right on Loch Lomond. From the common room you can sit in a cozy seat and look out at the lake and munros. Staff were kind and there are local beers available for purchase at the desk. My favorite place I stayed for my West Highlands Way... More

Comfortable and a great location. Food was good and the staff were very pleasant. Rooms are cramped but the living room is large with a great view. We had good weather so I can't comment on drying rooms etc. I found everyone walking the West Highland Way very friendly and I ended up playing Uno with a very multicultural group... More

Stayed here with a friend after an incredibly wet day on the West Highland Way. It was so crowded, so I've got nothing but praise for the staff for helping us with every inquiry. We stayed in a 6 bed female dorm, which was quite crowded with everyone's bags, but seeing as it's just for one night that wasn't really... More

Amazing lochside location. Huge, spotless self-catering kitchen with all necessary amenities, and the breakfast/packed lunch provided were both good. Lovely big lounge with huge windows overlooking the loch and plenty of sofas. Dorm rooms are a little cramped, not a lot of storage space for the rucksacks everybody is no doubt carrying to get here, but the beds are comfy... More

We were part of a large party of three families climbing Ben Lomond and then staying overnight at the hostel. The location is probably one of the best SYH locations in Scotland and the facilities, staff friendliness and cleanliness were all good. No complaints other than the quality of dinner we had on the evening which was really bad (combo... More

This is a good place to stay. We experienced the staff both here and the Rowardennan Hotel. There is no comparison. The staff at the Hostel are polite and do their best to help you enjoy your stay. The rooms are comfortable and they have midge screens at the windows so you can get air in without the midge. The... More

Having been more accustomed to hotels than hostels, I was pleasantly surprised!! Facilities were fantastic and the staff were most helpful. The vibe was really chilled and the washing and drying room was easy to use and readily available. Rooms were basic but clean and location was absolutely perfect. Would stay here again - incredibly reasonable price too.

We stayed here during our recent West Highland Way trip. We had three private rooms and had breakfast and dinner cooked for us in the restaurant. Accommodation and food all excellent value, and we even had a bottle of wine. We sat in the lounge afterwards with the most amazing view over Loch Lomond, while the children played Monopoly. Staff... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Rowardennan Lodge is set on the banks of Loch Lomond at the base of Ben Lomond. The West Highland Way passes directly past its front door making it an ideal stop along the way. The youth hostel is accessible by car and on foot as well as via the Loch Lomond Waterbus which operates direct from the hostel. Wi-Fi during your stay: We do our best to deliver a free Wi-Fi service but apologise that connectivity, particularly in our rural locations, can be intermittent due to the level of our current broadband provision along with high usage when the youth hostel is busy. Please be assured we are endeavouring to improve where we can. We thank you for your patience and understanding. ... more   less
