Lovely hotel and good service, but poor breakfast. I asked for one poached egg on toast and received two very hard eggs on a plate with a slice of thin, white toast cut in half next to them. The toast was of poor quality, cold and not buttered. I always look forward to a cooked breakfast when I am staying...

Ideally located by the lake side. Remote yet not far from the central belt. Waking up to sun and blue skies looking at the lake when having breakfast is a treat. Room was comfortable. Breakfast was very good and the bar very cosy.

Our 2nd visit to this hotel, everything was excellent with exception of dinner, it was average so dissapointed as last visit 2 years ago dinner was perfect, I would still recommend this hotel hopefully owners take note and ensure standards are kept high.

Lakeside view, windswept lake, spring showers mixed with dazzling explosions of sunshine. One course each - simple needs - Cullen Skink and a burger. Fresh preparation with perfect ingredients, splendid finishing, washed down with Sauvignon blanc and charming service. Doesn't get much better.

The staff were all very welcoming and friendly. Traditional Scottish breakfast was fantastic. It was the best breakfast I ate during my entire weeklong trip to Scotland. I would definitely recommend this place for people driving to see Loch Lomond or the Trossachs.

Looking for peace and serenity then this is the place for you. This small friendly hotel is perfect retreat from modern life. Stunning scenery overlooking the only lake in Scotland, the dining room is just a perfect setting for good quality local food served by staff who are only too pleased to be of service. The afternoon coffee/tea with scones...

Given I live fairly locally to this hotel I really want to have good places to eat on my doorstep, however, both myself and my wife were pretty dissapointed by the food served to us at this hotel. We were out for lunch and I had fish and chips whilst my wife had wild mushroom gnocchi. The fish was actually...

My wife and I stayed last Friday evening for dinner and tasting of Taittenger Champagne. From arrival to departure on the Saturday morning, we experienced nothing but perfect service and food in a fantastic spotless small hotel. Upon arrival on the Friday afternoon we were greeted with a nice smile from Lauren. She gave us a quick tour of the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In The Trossachs National Park yet easily accessible, being an hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh and twenty minutes from both Loch Lomond and the ancient City of Stirling. You drive through some remarkable Scottish scenery and upon reaching Port of Menteith, the Lake unfolds before you with the hotel nestling lakeside. Inside you will find a delightful house, much enlarged from the original 19th Century Manse, fully refurbished in recent years. Our inspiration has been the unique Lakeside setting and natural habitat for seasonal and permanent residents such as Osprey, Otter, Geese, Swans our duck family and more. Decorated in the warm and welcoming style of a classic New England waterfront hotel with muted tones and the extensive use of local timber and stone, perfectly complimenting this special waterfront setting. ... more   less
