If you want somewhere that is busy and bustling then this isn’t the place for you .
If however, you want somewhere quiet and picturesque then this is the place for you .

We were greeted by the owner who was extremely welcoming.

Our room was cosy , quaint and exceptionally clean . Just look at the gorgeous window ! There was also a velux window in our room which had a blackout curtain to use ( great idea !!)

There was a lounge we could use and a well equipped kitchen supplying cereal , yoghurt , bread , milk etc for us to make our own breakfast. This included microwave, toaster , dishwasher- all of a high standard.

The eatery downstairs is open for part of the week 10-4 and the food is outstanding.

One point to make is that other restaurants are approx 11 miles away so you need to factor this is .
What we did was eat at the cafe onsite for brunch and then had a picnic in the grounds later that day .

Would highly recommend

We had two night stay we were in stag one of small rooms in it was all we needed the hosts were very friendly and breakfast extremely good. Very good value for money our only disappointment was arriving back from a days cycling after the wee bear cafe closed so we missed out on what looked like fantastic cakes, from what we saw as we headed out in morning. We plan to visit again.

The lodge is very clean and comfy the host Gareth was lovely very friendly and helpful. The lounge and kitchen were very clean the free breakfast was great with a range of cereals, fresh fruit, toast and hot and cold beverages. There's a TV and a range of games and books to use, I would definitely stay there again

Nice location. Room quite nice. Very small shower room. Impressed that it had a power shower, but it didn’t work, just trickled water out, no jets worked. Made a cup of tea in the room, but the milk in the plastic pots was off- came out in blobs. Had to throw it away, never had this before. Paid for B& B on Booking.com, including breakfast. Was told due to covid that they were not serving breakfast in the restaurant to guests. They had converted a bedroom into a sitting room with a self serve galley kitchen- there were other guests in here, how was this covid safe?! No sanitiser provided. Cereals, juice, tea, coffee, bread and yogurt available . No fresh fruit . We had cornflakes and made some toast. Not what we were expecting at all. On checking out, the owner said that we could buy breakfast in the restaurant with a small discount! Will not go there again.

Where do I begin?
The rooms: cosy, spacious and immaculately clean
The breakfast facilities, at the moment, are self serve, however the wee kitchen provided and the breakfast options avaliable are more than adequate.
A good selection of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, bread, eggs and milk and butter aaaall available to use.
Kitchen is also equipped with toaster, microwave and mini oven.. So no big meals, but breakfast and micromeals are grand.
The family and staff take care of the lodge as well as the "wee bear cafe" and they are the Kindest and most accommodating people. Took the time to chat and offer helpful advice.
Would highly recommend and will definitely stay again.
P. S SUPER DOG FRIENDLY, which for us is very important!

If you want a break that includes lots of beautiful scenery and loads of wildlife then Angus, Scotland, is the place to go. You couldn’t pick a better base than the Lodge at Lochside. Very friendly and extremely comfortable. Our room was small (not a complaint as this was clear when the booking was made and there are larger rooms) but had a very comfortable bed and everything we needed. The en suite bathroom had a great shower. We also made good use of the lovely guests lounge in the evenings. And last but not least the cheeky red squirrel was very entertaining. We will definitely stay there again.

I'm currently staying at the lodge and can honestly say, what a find! I had been looking for somewhere I could stay while work is being done on my house. I am recuperating after a long illness and was apprehensive about where to stay, as a solo traveller. I arrived a couple of hours before check in and thought I'd try the cafe - good move. Delicious soup and ciabatta, fantastic cakes and coffee. I was then shown to my room which was compact and very nicely done, so cosy and welcoming. The kitchen facilities and breakfast arrangements are great and the residents lounge is also a nice touch. It is surrounded by lovely rolling countryside and I've got more sightseeing and walking recommendations than I'll manage on this trip. I'd been here about an hour and extended my stay an extra night. I'd thoroughly recommend it to anyone who wants to have a busy/sporty break or who just want a quiet relaxing spot.

Smashing wee place, peaceful & quiet, beautiful scenery and loads of wildlife. Met by the very welcoming Gareth and made to feel right at home. My room was very comfortable and had everything I needed. The en suite bathroom had a great shower. I also had the guest lounge all to myself!
Plus there is a wonderful café around the front, lunches, coffees and beautiful cakes. Highly recommended
