Detailed Reviews
I spent three nights at Purgavie farm and my friends joined me for two nights.
Moira and Dave are very welcoming. The breakfast Moira provides is first class and it sets you up well for a day's hiking and walking in the area. We all enjoyed our chats with Moira who is very knowledgeable about the area I grew up in Lintrathen and it was wonderful to go for walks there again
The rooms are spotless, cosy and with wonderful views. I hope one day I can go back again.
I highly recommend Purgavie Farm B & B.

We have just returned from four nights at Purgavie Farm. We have been several times before and Moira provided the warm hospitality, excellent accommodation and great food that she always does. The room was large and comfortable and spotlessly clean. All bed linen, towels, crockery and glassware were top class. There was plenty of choice for breakfast which, after fresh fruit and home-made yoghurt, was freshly cooked and piping hot.
Moira takes pride in making her guests feel very much at home and finds time to have a chat in the evening to discuss the day, or explore possibilities for the next day.
This is a great place to stay to explore the wonderful Angus Glens and their wildlife (we enjoyed watching 5 brown hares in the barley field outside our room) and we cannot recommend it highly enough.
The gentleman from California who gave such a poor review in June last year has either confused Purgavie Farm with somewhere else, or has a similar relationship with reality, truth and falsehood as his recently elected President.

We had the Glen Cova Room, where the bathroom is ensuite but separate from the bedroom in that it is outside the bedroom but inside the unit making the bathroom very private, and the large room also. The bathroom is large with a bath and separate shower. There was also a 2nd wash basin in the bedroom. The bed was king sized being 2 twins put together The pillows were somewhat thin and flattened. The farm house is old, but well decorated and very pleasant with wonderful views. Our host is 70 years of age, and well experienced in B&B.
The breakfast menu required choices the night before, but we did not need to give a time. There was homemade yogurt. The farm, now run by family members, grew oats and carrots, and there were sheep, chickens and horses near the house. We were welcome to wander around the farm. Note- when you arrive, the farm house is hidden and on the left- the arrow had fallen down, and we wrongly went to the family house, which is closest to the B&B sign.

This was our worst B&B choice in all of Scotland! This was no farm... It was a sheep ranch at best, with the owner more focused on getting paid rather than focusing on the delivery of reasonable service.
We had a dreadful time trying to find the place in the first place, as the B&B was on a remote road, with only one sign to note the existence of the B&B if of course you were coming from a specific direction. To our dismay, we approached from a direction that had no markings letting us know that we were close to the B&B. More importantly, when I called, the owner was "to busy" to explain how to get there. She told us to ask in town...
When we finally arrived, we were taken to our room which had very poor lighting, no heat in the room, and no Wi-Fi, or Internet service available. On top of that, there was no hot water the night we were there. Considering we paid approx. $110.00 for the night we were profoundly underwhelmed.
The morning meal was served luke warm, with a choice of canned peaches, or pears. the eggs were not cooked through, and the coffee was watered down. We were quite happy to leave!

I am very sorry you found my bed and breakfast so awful I have five signs all directing guests to the farm We are in no way a sheep ranch we are a 480 acre farm with crops cattle sheep and potatoes grown Everything you are saying I cannot agree with because no way do I ever put tinned fruit out for breakfast since May it has been fresh local strawberries and I do not water down my coffee or serve cold food .My wifi has had no complaints I have two routers one down stairs and one at the top of the stairs My price is £38 each which I do not consider unreasonably for price for a four star bed and breakfast My heating is always on and there's lots of hot water all day we have a huge hot water pressurised tank I did give you directions as you had passed here a few times then a kind person brought you to the door I was not to busy I was watching for you with another guest But once again I am very sorry but I can assure you I do not even have tins of peaches or pears in the house Hope your other bed and breakfasts in scotland were of a better experience than I was but I have guests who return again and again .

What a wonderful stay we have had, beautiful room and filling Scottish breakfasts with locally sourced and home made produce. We went to collect eggs for Moira one day and got eggs collected that morning. Moira's hospitality is wonderful, nothing is too much trouble.
The rooms are warm, bright, fresh and spotlessly clean with plenty fluffy towels, tea and coffee facilities and pampering treatments in the bathroom. All these little touches make for a faultless relaxing break.
If you like walking as we do there is so much to see in the area and the tranquility is perfect. We are here in springtime (April) and watching the sheep and their baby lambs is delightful, the many birds and game birds is amazing.
We will be back here again and again. Thanks Moira & Dave

Stayed at Purgavie Farm's B & B for 4 nights at the end of September 2011. Very good accomodation near the Angus Glenns. Also near Glamis castle (15 minutes drive), which is a must to visit. Very friendly and helpful host, and vey good scottish breakfast is served . Nice, clean and comfortable room overlooking the garden. I would also recommend to visit the nearby Peel Farm for a quality lunch or home baked cake. Would stay here again.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay with Moira and it was wonderful.
My husband had stayed here before but this was my first visit, it is like home from home. The bedroom was immaculate and the breakfast, well what can I say, it was the best full breakfast I have had in a long time with a choice of fresh fruit and cereal too.
Moira is a lovely lady who made us feel really welcome, if you are looking for somewhere to stay in this area then this is the place, so peaceful and tranquil.
Thank you Moira, we will most certainly be back soon.

Cannot speak highly enough of Purgavie BnB and Moira, loved every holiday we've had there, lovely clean rooms, fantastic breakfasts, loads of local advice from Moira about where to go and what to do, piping hot water for a bath or shower after a long day walking, and best of all my dogs could stay too. Counting the days to our next visit
