Detailed Reviews
We are just home after a 3 night stay at this beautiful B and B with my husband snd 4 children , whilst attending a local equestrian event . I could not recommend it highly enough The hosts were very warm and welcoming. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and very well appointed , with lots of little thoughtful extras. They accommodated our late evenings and early mornings , and the breakfast was delicious , a real highlight of our trip .The surrounding countryside is just breathtaking- amongst the best that Scotland has to offer . We will definately return the next time we are in the area and would not hesitate to recommend this establishment to anyone .

Having happily stayed at the same B&B each year for the passed 25 years whilst attending the Glamis Extravaganza, we were randomly searching for another place online as they have now retired. Well, what a fantastic find this turned out to be! The owners, Alison and John Wood couldn’t have been more accommodating. As well as being offered secure, covered garaging for our classic car, Alison went out of her way to offer the very best in hospitality. As well as an outstanding breakfast, we were provided with an unexpected and most welcomed packed lunch. The room was absolutely lovely as was the power shower! Alison’s friendly and welcoming personality made our experience in this beautiful setting memorable indeed. Thanks so much.

Tranquil location, (great for walkers & cyclists, birdwatchers, or those simply wanting to get away from it all) pleasant helpful hosts, fantastic amenities, great bed (& room), top class service, excellent breakfast...Falls of Holm is a real Scottish Gem!

Having stayed here May 2016 for the weekend of the annual Bonfest event, we decided to book again for 2017 as we had enjoyed our stay so much (see previous review). However, now that Elizabeth and Willie have sold the business, I don't think we will be back. I was contacted by John Wood (the new owner) to be told he wouldn't be able to honour our booking due to a previously arranged holiday. As this is the busiest time of year for the area (people come from all over the world for the Bonfest event), we are now struggling to find somewhere else to stay. Not a good start for the new owner.

Response from Alison W, Head cook and bottle washer at Falls of Holm
Responded 23 Aug 2018
Thank you Jbaird2 for your comments of disappointment and we are very sorry not to have been able to meet you all that weekend in April, having just moved in to our new home three days previously, and three weeks before Christmas. Our inability to accommodate your size of party at that time was unfortunate and we still only accommodate 4 guests now as compared to the previous owners. We also, coincidentally, were away ourselves. We were unable to give you any earlier warning as I have already stated because we were only able to see what reservations were there once we took the keys and had a good look at the premises, three days previously. Falls of Holm will continue to only take a maximum of 4 guests as we wish to maintain the peace and tranquility of the residence. In the intervening time we hope that you have continued to support the hugely popular "AC/DC Bonfest " weekend and again, our sincere apologies for the disappointment caused by the change of ownership.

If you want the lovliest rural b and b, to open your curtains to see deer feeding, first class friendly welcome, then this is the place. Elisabeth will even prepare you a non-meat meal at 2 hours notice, although she may not thank me for saying so. Highly recommended

We stayed in Scotland in August, for a total of 10 nights, in 3 different B&B's. They all have 4 stars according to the Scottish Tourist Board. Falls of Holm was the last one we stayed at.
We were happy to end our holiday in such a relaxing place. The view from our spacious room was phenomenal. Breakfast was very good. WIFI available. A cosy dining room / lounge.
Nice garden to enjoy but the path along the falls is in need of some maintenance.
The hosts, Elisabeth and Willy, were wonderful, very kind and interested in us (and our motorbike :-)), they really made us feel at home.
If we ever go back to the Kirriemuir-area, we will stay here again !

My wife and I were on a short walking weekend in the Angus area and following some research elected to stay a night at Falls of Holm. Good decision!
Location was excellent. Guest lounge was lovely with beautiful views and although we were only there 1 night it felt like it was “our room” straight away. That may have been partly to the homely feel of the room and the fact that were so warmly welcomed by Elizabeth & Willie.
Garden was also delightful with a number of charming decking areas near the stream.
Bedroom was well appointed with en suite shower room that had a terrific powerful shower!
Best of all though was the food. We took advantage of having an evening meal (as offered on the website) expecting perhaps a main course and dessert. Oh no! Delicious, fresh, homemade cream of mushroom soup with garlic bread followed by Chicken Rob Roy (chicken stuffed with haggis and wrapped in bacon) with copious amount of fresh, brilliantly cooked vegetables. Then homemade rhubarb and apple crumble with thick double cream and ice cream. And finally coffee or tea with chocolates.
Absolutely amazing restaurant standard food but with that “homely” feel to it.
Breakfast was no less brilliant.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the Falls of Holm. My only word of caution – be prepared to take on loads of calories!!

We met up with relatives from Oz at the Falls of Holm and living just 20 miles away we knew that it would be in an area of significant beauty but there is not a window in the place that does not afford a fantastic view. Elizabeth and William were extremely welcoming and we could not fault a thing from the lovely location, to their wonderful home to the fantastic dinner and breakfast we enjoyed. If you are a party animal this would not be the place for you but if you want to experience fine home cooked meals and the beautiful Scottish glens then this is the place to go. I would highly recommend this b&b.

A fantastic overnight touring stop. Elizabeth and William are very friendly and welcoming. The room was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. The breakfast was fantastic!
The location is remote, lovely and quiet.
Handy for visiting Reekie Linn Falls and Glamis Castle to name but a couple of places.

My friend and I stayed at Falls of Holm for one night prior to playing golf at Kirriemuir. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by our hosts and provided with tea and cakes. An evening meal was offered and thoroughly enjoyed. The home cooking was superb as was our Breakfast. Very comfortable rooms and facilities.Altogether a lovely place to stay provided by a great couple Willie and Elizabeth. Just wish we could have stayed longer .
