The term "hotel" to describe this establishment is somewhat of a misnomer, as it is essentially some rooms above a bar. The lack of a dedicated reception area gives cause for confusion, as with the lack of dedicated hotel staff - the downstairs bar staff doubling up rolls. We were not shown to our room, merely directed. The rooms themselves...

Check in was a wee bit confusing as there was no reception desk but the barmaid was lovely and our room was clean and perfect. Our evening meal was fantastic .Very welcome after a very long day. Did not have much sleep as our twin room was at the front of the hotel above the bar door. This was the...

Have eaten twice at this hotel/pub and feel its well worth a visit. Service was very good and friendly. The staff were very helpful and the food was good and at a decent price. They have tried to modify the decor, but need to upgrade the tables and chairs

Stayed there on Saturday. The staff were very helpful, friendly and cheerful. The room was spacious and clean. The evening meal was good and at reasonable cost. The waitresses were efficient and friendly. As it was Saturday the bar was very busy and noisy. If you are an early bedder this could be a problem but it didn't bother me. The...

Not knowing Kirriemuir we went to Thrums for lunch. I had read the earlier reviews but it was too late as my sister had already booked. The reviews were not accurate as far are our visit was concerned as the service was excellent and the food was good pub food, presented well. It is nothing fancy just pub food but...

I haven't stayed here but have sampled the delicious bar lunches. Huge amount of choice at very reasonable prices. Everything from a toastie to a steak pie! Generous portions. Staff very attentive and friendly. Food arrived quickly. Despite the place being very busy when we arrived, our order was taken within 5 minutes. If you want some good honest food...

Stayed with my sister for the only hot weekend of the scottish summer! The room was really nice with a modern ensuite and situated at the front of the building. There was wifi in the room and all over the hotel. The pub is a real local and there is also a nice lounge for residents who don't want to...
