Had a good night's stay at the hostel. All areas were very clean. There weren't lockers in the rooms. There's a decent sized kitchen and dining area and a separate lounge area. A little difficult to track down driving in at night, there's no address that one can enter on the GPS, just follow the directions on their website. Staff... More

Skye backpackers situated in Kyleakin on the Isle of Skye is a cosy and humble hostel. You can either stay in a dorm, caravan, or private rooms for a really affordable price. We reserved a caravan, but got upgraded to the dorm because it was too cold for the van. The kitchen is fully equipped and you’re offered free tea,... More

The people who work here are really nice and fun. It has a really cosy vibe - we spent the evenings playing boardgames by the fireplace and drinking wine. The kitchen is nice, it's a great place to do some home cooking. Really great vibes, would definitely recommend.

We stayed for a night in this hostel, and we booked the caravan option. It's the cheapest still very cosy. Our caravan is Star Trek themed, complete with wall painting and Star Trek duvet cover! Each bunk is named after character of in Star Trek that mine was Captain Kirk, and there is Scotty and many more! Love it! One... More

Love: 1. Staffs are super nice and polite 2. Kitchen with suitable kitchenware and things. Hate: 1. Unfortunately got a upper bunker bed that was right down the rooftop, can't even move at all. Head would hit the rooftop when waking up. 2. Bad ventilation system, the room get stuffy with people inside. The window is on the rooftop, and... More

I checked in without a reservation at the last possible moment - but the staff could get me in nevertheless. The hostel is very friendly, the room was very nice and clean - and it is very well located on Kyleakin. They also offer a very nice tour around Skye - and, if this one is full, offer nice alternatives.

Nice little place to stay for our first night in Skye this trip. All staff were very friendly and helpful (1st ever stay in a hostel too). Had a double room overlooking the back of the hostel... Cups of tea on hand whenever we wanted. Lots of wells boots too (never seen so many)

The hostel is clean and tidy with friendly staff. The rooms are decorated to create a warm and relaxing atmosphere with some quirky hand painted details dotted around the hostel. The often overlooked village of Kyleakin is also worth a visit as it is one of the prettiest villages I've ever been to.

Nice hostel just near the bridge into Skye. Nice rooms and good kitchen facilities. The girl on the desk was very helpful when we had misplaced some things in Inverness. The Isle of Skye is situated on the west coast of mainland Scotland, and is the largest and best known of the Inner Hebrides. One of Europe's most dramatic and haunting lands, words can do little justice to describe Skye's awesome beauty. You simply have to see it for yourselves. Skye Backpackers sits in the picturesque fishing village of Kyleakin, skirted by mountains and sea. It's a small, cosy and friendly hostel with loads of character and great staff who are committed to ensuring you make the most of your time on the island. Our accommodation is comprised of 2 Double Rooms, 1 Twin Room, 1 Triple Room & 5 Dorm rooms that vary in size between 4-8 beds per room. We also have 2 caravans in our garden which can accommodate up to 20 people. All of our beds come complete with full bed linen and 2 pillows so there is no need to bring your sleeping bag. We have a great fully equipped self catering kitchen, a sunny dining area and the famous Groove Lounge with a real coal fire, loads of books and games and spectacular seaside views. Take some time to explore the island's haunted castle ruins; feel the mysterious presence of the legendary faeries in tranquil glens, waterfalls and mountain pools; visit whiskey distilleries and sample local beers and ales; take a relaxing stroll through the countryside or boldly ascend a mighty mountain. There’s plenty to see and do around the Isle of Skye so come and ask us for ideas – we’re a friendly bunch! We will give you all of our ‘Top Tips’ on our fantastic island and will even give you a FREE MAP. Possibly the BEST way to explore Skye is onboard our magical, mystical day tour with MacBackpackers.
