I stayed here for one night only, on the 10th of April, and can tell you that the proprietor was extremely friendly and pleasant. Because I was working at Laphroig distillery till late I didn't really spend a lot of time in the hotel, which was being refurbished to a good standard. Because of this, I had to go elsewhere...

We were booked in for three nights. Having read about losing their alcohol licence online we were forewarned that the former hotel would now be a b&b and something of a 'ghost ship'. That in itself was not a problem. The key and a letter of explanation offering a price reduction (we had booked many months in advance) were waiting...

Stayed here for two nights with friends while we visited Islay for a whiskey tour. When we made our reservations it was all online. The web site refers to the restaurant and bar. When we arrived, we were told it is now being run as a B&B. No food other than breakfast and the bar was closed down. Would have...

Spent weekend with a couple of mates. We arrived at reception and waited and waited and waited until someone noticed 3 envelopes on the desk. The only time we saw a member of staff was at breakfast. We became aware that the hotel is up for sale which makes sense at it requires some investment.

This is a difficult review to write. I was aware of its 'Fawlty Towers' reputation, but it was the only place I could book for the two nights I wanted. Reviews here say it's noisy due to the public bar downstairs, but when I arrived the bar and restaurant were dark and my key to Room 3 awaiting me on...

The first thing I am going to say is the staff are lovely working very hard under difficult circumstances. They are trying to make the best of a bad job. The owners should be ashamed of themselves. Like previous reviews we were told on arrival no restaurant meal or alcohol, only bed and breakfast, breakfast was very nice though. We...

We booked this online believing we had booked into a hotel. On arrival we were told it was now only a bed and breakfast.... But still charging the same! False advertising online as it still says it has a bar etc. I waited for almost an hour to speak to a member of staff but no one available. Needless to...

Really nice people, clean rooms, good service. The Breakfast was especially good and friendly every day. Very convenient to restaurants, the Ferry Terminal and 3 of the better Whiskey Distilleries. The only thing that prevented a better rating was the wifi service, just can't handle the necessary load of guests.

Clearly in trouble this is the worst hotel I have stayed in for some time. If I could have rated zero I would. Staff are good people but as disheartened and worn down as the presentation of the hotel itself. Myself and friends went to Islay for a whisky weekend. We are all mature guys and booked several rooms. The...

We wouldn't have had nice weekend so thank you to both...
