We had a breakfast reservation at the hotel prior to our friend's wedding at Ardbeg distillery. Don't be deceived by the plain exterior, this hotel is lovely inside. Tastefully decorated and modern. The staff were friendly, as is everyone on Islay. The breakfast (we had the full Scottish) was tasty and plentiful. Worth a visit.

we had dinner there several times and every meal was delicious. They are specialised in seafood. The Service was perfect and we felt very comfortable there. The next time we come to Islay we will stay in the Hotel too.

Our first visit to Port Ellen , what a great little village and just like the rest of the island the people are great so after a little drink in a bar on the front we were recommended to the Islay Hotel for lunch in the whisky bar. The bar is light and comfortable and the food is prepared with...

Probably considered a "Boutique Hotel" by the owners the room rates compared with similar establishments are not justified. Although freshly redone and very clean the restaurant unfortunately lacks warmth and ambiance and definitely an "island feeling" .

We ate here twice on a three night stay in Port Ellen. There are very few places to eat but I would say that this is the best. Dishes though are hit and miss. First night was a delicious fish pie and a crab pasta dish which didn't really work. The wine was superb and the cheeseboard very good. Second...

We ate two dinners and two breakfasts at the Islay Hotel and all the meals were excellent. Food was fresh, well prepared and the staff was attentive and friendly. We stayed in a local apartment but appreciated the convenience and food selection at the Islay Hotel.

My wife and i visited the restaurant here last year and were knocked out at the quality of the seafood and the way it was prepared. This year was no different. The local oysters from Loch Gruinart were the best i've had anywhere in the world. They told us that the seafood platter was taken off the menu the week...

Definitively, if you're into whiskey and malts, you must visit Islay and the Isle of Jura, and when doing so, stay at The Islay Hotel in Port Ellen. Above all, a warm, clean, spacious and elegant place. Rooms are comfortable, high-end and greatly equipped. The bar offers a nice place to share a dram with your travel mates, and the...
