This is a lovely hotel in a very nice location. We booked this as an ITISON deal and were not disappointed. The room was very clean and airy with excellent facilities. The place was extremely dog friendly - something that appeals to us as we have a small dog who accompanies us on all our travels. Dog was welcomed in...

Simple surroundings belies excellent service and food. Dogs welcome as well. Will definitely go again when next in the area. We had the daube of beef with barley risotto and the haddock and leek risotto with hand cut chips. Good value

Went for a birthday treat and was disappointed. Haven't realised that they only had an a Xmas menu choice before booking a table. Then, must have been the only people eating not to know, or be told, that it was 2_4_1 on burgers !!!. Food we had was okay, but not memorable. The steak pricey at £25. A nice cosy...

Met two good friends for an annual get together and a bit of food. Given the time of year I went for the turkey. It was exceptional. The best turkey dinner I've ever had. Meat was lovely and moist, very tasty stuffing, beautifully hot. Great selection of well cooked veg and a fantastic gravy! Good turkey dinners at this time...

Food in this establishment is worth coming for. Best I've had for quite a while, menu is not huge, but the food is prepared and cooked on the premises. In addition each dish on the menu I would like to eat which is a definite must. The minced pie cheese cake was to die for and will be going back...

Whilst it was a cold day we visited for lunch, we didn't expect to have to sit with our jackets on throughout the meal. Cullen Skink was nice, main courses were disappointing, all warm not hot! Quite expensive for what we received. Only one size glass available for wine, asked for a large house wine, received a small glass. Queried...

The pub came recommended as a nearby dog friendly place so we booked a table for 4. The pub was welcoming with a lovely fire, the staff really friendly and the food was really nice. All of us really enjoyed and for one in the party, the best lamb she has ever had! She was still talking about it 2...

Arrived on a very cold Sunday evening, shown to a nice warm modern room, spent a pleasant evening in the cosy bar watching Andy Murray win at tennis and eating a good roast dinner with some of the best gravy ever tasted. Friendly and helpful staff.

I recently visited this pub for dinner while on holiday. It is super cosy and the people very friendly, they even welcomed our dog with open arms. The food was fantastic and incorporated local produce. We enjoyed it so much, we returned a couple of nights later.
