We turned up for our Christmas night out on Friday 12th December ready for a good night! Unfortunately, this was not going to be the case! There was a big delay on the starters arriving and when they finally did, they were almost in edible. The portions were tiny but we thought perhaps the main course might be better. Some...

Attended the hotel for a Christmas/murder mystery night. There was a party of 10 at cost of £500 at the table not including our drinks. Where do I start : 1. Girls could not get a drink for 20 mins due to having no glasses. 2. Paid for extra five drinks and could not get a pint, and was only...

We booked our Christmas party night for the royal hotel and were bumped to theIr sister hotel the royal ivy 2 days before the event. On the night the venue was freezing, they were severely understaffed and the starter was appalling, we never received a main meal or dessert. 5 frozen prawns on a round of soggy brown bread for...

Such a shame that we all got dressed up for our Christmas party night out and had to sit with our coats on for hours until we generated our own heat! Good music and dancing saved the evening from being a bit of a disaster.

Here for as work Christmas night out, so far there has been slow service, a bar that ran out of the basics and to top it all cold food. It has all the signs of a hotel that has overstretched itself. The staff couldn't be more disinterested if they tried. Awful awful experience.

Stayed last weekend. Whilst we were happy with the room rate upon last minute booking it was no surprise once we got to the room why it was so cheap, although bit tricky finding it as room number missing off wall. Dirty carpets, broken drawer and lights, constant trickling water noise from rads and towel rail, broken shower fittings and...

we stayed here for one night (room 24) never again. Floor boards were unbelievably noisy, bathroom floor sloped towards room entrance door, bathroom door did not close, shower no water pressure, towel rail not working and held together with black electrical tape, shower curtain rail broken, room curtains torn and half hanging on curtain rail, ceiling light like a 2...

It is very rare that I find a hotel in need of help. The building needs more than little TLC. The rooms are very dark and noisy. You can hear everyone walking by the room and also upstairs due to loose wooden floor boards. During my stay the fire alarm went off three times during the night / early hours....

Waitress and cleanliness could not be faulted. Prices where reasonable but the food wasn't anything special. Our starters where good, I had pakora and my boyfriend had tomato soup. The main meals where a complete miss. I'm convinced my enchiladas where microwaved and my boyfriends meal was underwhelming (chicken and mushroom pie). The salad was drenched in dressing which always...
