Had Afternoon tea here today. Surroundings were beautifully renovated and stylish. Staff were very pleasant and helpful but overall service was rather slow and I have never had an Afternoon Tea where that food or teas were not replenished. However the biggest Shock was the see through toilet doors downstairs!!! Left nothing to imagination as I queued for a toilet,...

Beautiful renovation and great job on the outside seating area. However, we waited thirty minutes for our order to be taken yet the restaurant was reasonably quiet. When order was taken, no grace or apology for taking so long. Teething troubles I'd imagine. Another point was that when my o/h was going to order drinks and then did a u-turn...

Visited on a Friday intending to celebrate getting new job with a bottle of champagne. Was told that it was all table service and if we sat at a table, someone would come and take our order. Surroundings very nice with lovely comfy chairs. So we waited. Then we waited some more. A waiter came dangerously near our table at...

Fabulous meal and service, only thing, no hand rails or lift to get up and down stairs. bar staff wouldn't make an easy cocktail as it wasn't on menu. But overall we all had a great night. Will defiantly be returning.

My friend and I came here late on Saturday afternoon to check out the new decor. Nice greeting from staff as we walked brought the door. Unfortunately there was no seats in the bar area, however a lot of tables had 2 people sitting at a small table with 4 seats - perhaps there should be more two seater tables?...

Lunch booked for 1.15 pa today for 7 people. Only another 3 or 4 tables occupied in the dining room but service was unbelievably slow ..... about half an hour for bottle of wine to arrive. The "roast" was salmon (um ... really?) It was, however, delicious. My husband's gammon turned out to be one rasher of bacon, one egg...

Visited the newly refurbished Royal Hotel on a Saturday evening for a drink. Hotel was busy with I believe 3 separate functions going on. Great to see a successful business thriving. Bar staff, appeared uninterested and very much lacking in experience. First drink order was taken and served in reasonable time. G&Ts were laden in too much ice and no...

Our server was good the food in restaurant was poor. Salty in the extreme. Don't get chicken starter or sauce with steak. The chef cannot have any taste buds or worked for an airline. Everything is over salted. Could be so much better.

Dropped in on a late Sunday afternoon. Renovations are great - bar area very well decorated and furnished. Enquired at reception about food. Very helpful member of staff gave me a menu then showed me through to the bar area where another staff member welcomed me and discussed what was on offer on the menu. When I asked about wheelchair...

This hotel has recently been taken over by a new owner and has been renovated to a very high standard. Four of us went for coffee and scones. We were greeted at the door by a very pleasant girl who showed us to a table in the lounge. We were served by a very pleasant and helpful waiter. Scones were...
