Had a great meal here last Wednesday night, even though we were late the manager/owner was very welcoming and accommodating. The lady who was working - Elizabeth - was great also and couldn't do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble for her even though she was trying to clear up, she even tried to persuade us to have...

We stayed at the Royal for a couple of nights while checking off a few highland distilleries. The owner, Ayaz, was a great host and keeps a decent whisky bar if that's your thing. The restaurant was good and our room well appointed. The Royal is perhaps in need of updating round the edges but we would happily stay again...

Our recent one night stay was not too bad. After parking in the convenient adjacent lot, we were greeted warmly and enthusiastically by Ivan, the manager. On his recommendation, we had our diner in the hotel dining room (salad, fish and chips and lamb shank), all excellent. Our room was spacious, adequately clean and fairly comfortable, however it was somewhat...

Clean rooms with a great breakfast, we stayed Thursday to Sunday and were made very welcome. With an extensive collection of whisky 's to try, though not the cheapest in town. This was a great place to base ourselves for daily excursions to the many local distilleries and walks in the stunning countryside. I would recommend the Royal. G.

The hotel is located in a convenient place - right near the traIn station. But the walls of my room were so thin that it was too noisy to sleep at night , especially on Friday. One is the receptionists made mistakes and was annoying.

The Royal Hotel in Tain was one of the best places to stay we discovered on our tour of Scotland. A warm welcome from the owner & operator Ayaz, good food and a selection of over 100 whiskeys in the bar make the hotel a super place to stay!

I stayed here for over 5 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Ayaz (the owner) and Ivan (The manager) were excellent hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. The food choice in the restaurant was vast and the standard of food was very good. There were specials on every night which added to the choice. The hotel has...

We stayed on night here on the way home from our trip to Shetland and Orkney. We were checked in by the owner/manager and he later popped up in the bar and the restaurant and again the next morning at breakfast. He was very friendly and keen to make sure that we had everything we wanted. Our room was good,...

The Royal has friendly and helpful staff. It has good food and clean, tidy and warm accommodation. The room was good too. Excellent helpful manager and very well organised. Ideal hotel for our golf tour. We played Dornoch, Tain, Nairn and Brorra

The Royal Hotel gives a first impression of a traditional town centre hotel from the days gone by. These are now often run-down, characterless, un-welcoming and badly run. Not so the Royal! As soon as you step inside the welcoming atmosphere hits you. The manager checked in our party of 20 golfers in a matter of minutes and after settling...
