Certificate of Excellence
Peacefully set in its own grounds with lovely views over the colourful village square, this chateau style hotel’s traditional features have been carefully retained to strike just the right Highland note. A warm welcoming feeling comes as much from the friendly staff as from the fine wood panelled public rooms which have been carefully preserved. Strathpeffer itself is just steps away from the hotel and is renowned as an attractive Highland spa resort with fabulous Victorian architecture. Be sure to enjoy the scenic views of the village below from the open veranda. The massive peak of Ben Wyvis is the backdrop to this charming village. It’s a perfect base from which to explore Scotland’s dramatic Northern Highlands – mountainous countryside, sparkling streams, waterfalls and golden shores.

Probably one of the best Shearings hotels we have ever stayed at. The setting was simply gorgeous with beautiful views to village and beyond. Large comfortable room, spotlessly clean as was the very spacious en suite. Food was of a high quality as was the evening entertainment

Any pubs you can walk to on an evening near the hotel?
There’s a few other hotels that often have entertainment and I think one of them has a bar that locals frequent. There is a Little restaurant which looks quite romantic to have a meal but not open late. It’s a beautiful place to visit! Don’t miss the train station!!!! 🚂

Do thay sell cider in the hotel bar? If so can you get it with your drinks vouchers
They do sell cider at the hotel. I am not sure what brands and yes I know you can get what they have on tap on the voucher and if you want something different you have to pay an upgrade charge but it is not more than a pound.

We're going soon on the 8 day Shearings holiday that's based at the Bay Highland Hotel. The travel documents say that we'll be advised by our driver of the operating days for the included excursions (two full days + one half day). It would be helpful to know that before we go, so that we can make some other plans that won't conflict with the included excursions. What's been the typical pattern for the week on previous holidays, please? In particular, are we safe to assume that none of the excursions are likely to be on the very first day after our arrival (Sunday)? Many thanks. Geoff
Im not sure with the 8day holiday but its usually the day after you arrive after breakfast , they also post the days and times of excursions etc on a notice board in the hotel .

Is it possible to get to Rogie Falls by bus from the hotel? Apart from Inverness and Dingwall, are there other places which are reachable by bus?
I think there is a bust no 61 you can catch in Strathpeffer Square which passes through the scenic route to the pretty west coast fishing village of Ullapool. From there you can catch the ferry to the island of Lewis but if you can also take a return bus in the afternoon which would get you back in good time for your evening meal at the hotel. The bus is quite early but the square is just in front of the hotel. The bus does stop in Contin which I think is near Rogie falls but you may need to arrange a taxi from there. It also stops in Garve, Altguish and Braemore. If you phone D&E Coaches on 01463222444 or find their website, they may help further. There may also be special tours to Rogie falls which you could join. The hotel will also be very helpful. I hope this helps and you have a great trip.
