what an amazing place this is! We chose this place completely at random and we hit gold first time, lovely welcome from the owner and the accommodation was truly amazing. We stayed in one of the cabins in the grounds and it was a magical experience. The price was very reasonable and the breakfast perfection. I really can't praise this...

So glad we never booked here, booked a lovely place only 1000 yards away but decided to check out The Old Pier House while in the area. Half way down the drive we were confronted by an extremely rude and unwelcoming female who as it transpires is the owner/operator. My wife and I (both in our 50's) we're treated like...

Unplanned adventure, took a turn down the path and truly amazed at the end of it (we only went down as we thought we could buy tea and sit looking over the loch) A very warm welcome from Jenny. Decided we would stay the night. Very comfortable accomodation with undoubtedly the best view of the Loch. Jenny explained the no...

I was solo hiking the Great Glen Way - this was one of my favorite B&Bs, and I feel so enriched to have spent a little time with Jenny MacKenzie. The room was comfortable but not fussy, but I was much taken with the location on the peninsula jutting into the loch, and the menagerie of Highland cattle and ponies...

Ginny MacKenzie opens up her home to you right on the Loch Ness. Private but easy walk to Fort Augustus makes it a perfect place to see the whole area. Ginny has canoes you can use, horses you can pet and feed and even Highland Cattle you can pet and get close to for those special photos. What wonderful place...

We booked the family room for 4 adults, 2 kids and 1 toddler. Very clean and comfortable. Fantastic views, and great service. It comes with a small kitchen. Can park 2 cars right outside our room. Highly recommended!

A group of ten of us kayaking the Great Glen, a week ago, phoned ahead and got accommodation for a night right on the shore of Loch Ness. A fantastic welcome, very comfortable accommodation and at a good price. We were even transported to a local pub in the evening. A great place to stay, marvellous views and a great...

We actually stayed at one of the cabins next to the bed and breakfast. We loved the location - beautiful to wake up to Loch Ness every morning. The cabin was a little rustic but it was exactly what we were expecting so we didn't have any surprises. The location was fabulous. We walked into the town of Fort Augustus...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Old Pier House, a Highland farmhouse on the shores of Loch Ness, near the pretty village of Fort Augustus. We offer bed and breakfast in the main house open from April to October and self-catering facilities in our Loch Ness Log Cabins which are open all year round. This is a very private location on a peninsula in Loch Ness with stunning loch and mountain views yet only a ten minute walk or a two minute drive from the centre of the village. Located in the heart of the Highlands we are ideally situated as a central base for your Scottish touring holiday. We welcome walkers, cyclists, canoeists, horses and camping groups. There is plenty of parking and storage space. The 125 year old house with magnificent views has been extended to provide comfortable en-suite ground floor bedrooms, sitting rooms with log fires and a large bright breakfast room with superb views. Originally the Old Pier House was the end of the line for the West Highland Railway where big paddle steamers carried timber, cattle and people up the loch to Inverness. The old pier still remains and provides wonderful photo opportunities, a great picnic location and moorings for small boats. We have friendly Highland cattle and ponies that graze naturally on the heather hills, fields and surrounding woodlands. We speak fluent Gaelic, French, German, Italian and Spanish. ... more   less
