Amazing stay Stayed at the Eagle hotel for a week.. excellent breakfast room’s really comfy.. everyone working there was amazing.. booked to go again nxt year for a week.. a big thank u too everyone at the hotel. Amazing bar with assortment of rum, whiskey & gin.. good choice of restaurant food..
Looking for a quick late lunch and was given a table providing we ordered quickly as they were very busy and awaiting a party of 10 people. Staff were young but friendly and polite . The bar food is what it is. My daughter ordered macaroni &cheese with garlic bread which was fine . I ordered the vegetable fajitas. The fajitas were undercooked and chewy so couldn’t eat them . The sauce was very thick with slices of carrot! . I did tell the waiter to tell the chef for the next customer but he didn’t get back to me I have eaten here before and it was good as was the service and wine but will stick to fish and chips as usually a safe bet 🤞 I will try again but not in the busy season .
We stopped for one night and ate dinner too which was lovely, we both had the curry. Breakfast was well organised, again tasty food. We found all the Staff very friendly. Our room was nice and comfortable too. Free parking in all of Dornoch so you can park as close as you like. We used a car park that we found down the road opposite the hotel.
It was early in the season so perhaps the member of staff at check in wasn’t used to people staying and had a brusque manner which didn’t make us feel welcome. Car parking was suggested across the road outside the Chinese takeaway. Room was adequate but there was a smell of cooking that lingered. However we noted in the room info that plans to update the kitchen had been delayed so this may be eliminated once this has taken place. We ate dinner in the bar and that was fine. Breakfast was in the restaurant and was adequate.
Perfect one night stay. Friendly staff. Great food and service. Room cosy including usb sockets in the right places and new bathroom. Great Scottish breakfast including a tasty sausage bacon beans black pudding egg and a potato thing. Good choice of cereal too
Remodelled during covid (the public bar not so rowdy!) and targeting diners rather than boozers, the plan seems to be working. Had a great meal for 8. Pre ordering breakfast is a little odd but I understand the economics. Don't expect wide corridors or large staircases but the rooms are done to a high standard. Very good and recommended
I fully appreciate that you get what you pay for and as this hotel is relatively cheap, then I did not expect five star luxury! On arrival, it was confirmed that my wife and I had a dinner reservation in the restaurant. We went to our bedroom, which was clean, but small with a tiny bathroom. Later we had a drink in the bar before going to the restaurant for dinner. We were then told our reservation was for dinner in the bar! After requesting our meal be in the restaurant, as it was a much quieter room, the waitress said she would have to check, before returning to say we could in fact eat there. It was not full! We had our main courses, which were average, but at no point did anyone check if we were enjoying it and then after waiting over twenty minutes with no service, I had to go to the bar to ask for our plates to be cleared and to see the dessert menu. . The bar had customers but was not busy and three of the staff were behind the bar, whilst the fourth waitress was also at the bar and it appeared as though they were all telling stories etc. certainly not serving customers! The waiter immediately apologised and from then on gave us excellent service. However the damage had been done. Meanwhile one of the waitresses gave me a filthy look as she walked by! We finished our meal, asked for the bill, which the waiter promptly produced, but sadly it was wrong ie. charging us for three main courses, not two. I went to the bar to settle the bill and was attended to by the owner/manager, who asked if everything had been all right. I then said that the service had not been good and expected to be asked about my issue. Instead, there was no reaction and no questions! He simply accepted my comment and said goodnight! Unbelievable! Sadly this attitude just typifies our thought that the staff have no inclination to provide good friendly customer service. I should also add that through the hotel there are notices asking customers to wear covid masks, which I totally agree with. It’s a shame that none of the staff bothered to wear these when we saw them during the evening!…
Family recently took a trip to Dornoch. Great wee bar menu discovered at this central establishment with enough selection to suit all our tastes. Craic from staff/locals an added bonus. Quick to serve and reasonably priced. Keep doing what you’re doing Team!
A genuine pub, we had a lovely room with a really nice bathroom. Breakfast was lovely, though the telly was on in the dining room which wasn't for me. We also are dinner the previous evening, traditional pub grub. Well worth a visit Dornoch is delightful, the history of the area is sobering, though the beach is out of this world and goes on for miles, we saw dolphins. The golf course looked spectacular.
Lovely hotel the rooms were nice bed was really comfortable but we were above the kitchen and could smell the cooking. We had an evening meal and the food and staff were amazing. Would definitely stay again. Thankyou
