The rates for this hotel are budget to mid range. T he location is 10/10, with spectacular views from the hotel across the adjoining golf course, and on to the sea beyond, it's great! The hotel is obviously a faded reflection, all be it with a slight dullness to its former glory, but combine some imagination, resignation, and reflect on...

A decent enough hotel in a great location. Definitely shades of faded Edwardian grandeur with many of the areas of the hotel in need of a lick of paint. I had a sea view room at the front of the hotel with a nice bay window and a couple if tub chairs to sit on and admire the view. My...

We booked after seeing the hotel on Groupon for a overnight stay and breakfast....and we certainly won't be recommending the hotel. On arrival the hotel has no atmosphere and a shabby reception decor with grubby carpets. It lacked in the ambience a hotel of that age should have. Our first room we were allocated 109 had no shower, dirty bathroom...

Grand old hotel that has seen better days. Clean but tired, definitely needs considerable modernisation. Bathroom only had a bath, though other reviewers have mentioned this. Excellent views as we had a front bedroom. Breakfast was very poor, all the hot food options were stone cold and the coffee was brown coloured water. Staff were friendly and doing the best...

Looks grand from a distance but not so grand up close. Allocated room158 paint stained lino in Bath room NO shower. Mattress was virtually non existing very uncomfortable. No double glazing so you are up with the seagulls every morning or with the cold as the heating didn't work properly. On a plus note the food and waiters were great.

Went to visit friends and booked into the hotel due to the bargain price. The room had everything you need in a hotel room. Yes it was an old character style hotel but underneath it's still got all the grandeur of a huge hotel. Beautiful staircase all the way up. There is a lift so no need to carry luggage...

First I have to say that the service was first class, bedroom comfortable and meal good enough (a fairly limited menu - but not complaining as it was good value. Breakfast was freshly good which is a plus as I was expecting a hotel of this standard to serve a hot buffet breakfast. So the downsides - décor - this...

Arrived on Friday afternoon after a long drive. Sun was shining and the hotel looked grand from the outside. Location is ideal. Check in was uneventful though card machine is still out of order, hotel only accepting cash payments.. Notice someone commented on this last year. Arrived at our room on the third floor and that's when my heart ♥...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Set in its own grounds overlooking the Royal Dornoch Golf Course and the beautiful sandy beaches of the Dornoch Firth this is a truly grand and impressive building. The exterior of the hotel has recently undergone tasteful redecoration and on the inside you will be greeted by a fine sweeping staircase and a warm Highland welcome. From the relaxing Sun Lounge you can admire the superb views and watch the world go by or enjoy a drink in the wood-panelled Links Lounge Bar. For the more energetic, there is a (seasonal) pitch and putt golf course in the hotel grounds where you can enjoy a round to build up your appetite for dinner. The Four Seasons and Links Restaurants within the hotel offer great dining options. This is an excellent base to visit the remote scenery of the area and to explore the lochs, moorland terrain and charm of Scotland’s far north. ... more   less
