A charming converted mill in a peaceful location, great for exploring the western side of Mainland. We stayed in the Mill Burn room which, as well as the four poster bed had a lovely chaise longue and two comfortable chairs. After a busy day sightseeing it was relaxing to laze and read with a cup of tea, listening to the...

A historically charming B&B wonderfully situated within easy driving distance from Stromness and even Kirkwall. The owner, Morag, was extraordinarily helpful in making sure our arrival was easy and comfortable and gave wonderful advice about interesting places to see and go in Orkney. We stayed in the Mill Burn Room which was large and filled with cozy antique furniture. However,...

This must be one of the most fascinating, charming and romantic bed and breakfasts in the UK, let alone Orkney. Morag is a wonderful source of information and so friendly. She has done a tremendous amount of work on this old mill and it is just full of wonderful details and 'relics' of a working mill. We stayed in the...

A lovely little place that is situated in a convenient place for getting to Stromness, Skarra Brae etc. We had a good welcome. The lounge is upstairs full of old mill things and other items. In the mill stream can be seen trout and eels. Being over 6' I did have to be very careful of the light fittings as...

The attention to detail makes everything about The Mill of Eyrland a pleasure to experience and savour. Make sure you book in advance. The rooms are beautifully appointed, so comfortable even if ours was a little cosy shall we say! No problem, there were lots of other features to enjoy like the beautiful and extensive breakfast on both mornings of...

We had no idea what to expect from Orkney. The Mill turns out to be ideally situated to get to all parts of the main island. We brought our bicycles and hopped around the many neolithic sites as well as taking the ferry to Hoy in order to see the Martello towers. Morag was our main trip advisor with great...

First of all Orkney was just fabulous. As soon as you land, you feel the oldness of the island. It's just so different from anywhere we'd been. Morag had given us very detailed directions which were daunting at first but were accurate down to the second reflector on the left. She even noted the mistakes people make, alerting us to...

What a brilliant place and what a delightful host. This converted mill still has all the machinery in place yet converted into comfortable luxury. The 4 poster bed, silk brocades and settees just ooze decadent comfort. Breakfasts are huge in the antique artfully cluttered dining room space. Don't expect to stay on schedule as the conversation is as wide ranging...

We loved our three nights at the Mill of Eyreland. We stayed in the family room at the top of the mill, which felt like a suite, complete with sitting room and electric fire. Our rooms were interesting, clean, and comfortable, but what I loved most was coming down to share the breakfast table with the other guests each morning,...

This is perfect for the person looking for something besides the slick and impersonal hotel. The mill is full of character and history and Morag is a delight. Breakfast was very good and we enjoyed getting to know the other guests and the communal dining table. It's a perfect site for exploring the historical sites on Orkney and Morag provides...
